just realised it is a hall switch down in the sensormight to use the magnet reed switch they supplied with the new speedo
however the ecu still needs the speed signal, going to just try feeding 12 volts down the speed sensor supply wire and see what happens
i.e   R/G   connected straight to   L/Y
Any thoughts or previous experiences that have worked (will keep you updated either way for future searchers)

Any news on this?

Does it switch between showing code and rpm or show code constantly until reset

It shows code constantly until reset, but if the bike rpm are higher than the code it is showing it will jump to that rpm meaning it is all over the place.

so if someone wants to know what speedo drive to use when converting to a mechanical speedo meter.

The answer is a speedo drive and caple from a Yamaha YZF 600 Thundercat.
Yamaha retainer cluch 341-25846-00-00
Yamaha Drive washer 341-25149-00-0

its a perfect fit, just plug and play.

Have a nice day.
How do you negate the Rev counter error code when the ecu realizes it doesn't have a speedo connected (from memory generated after raving past 10k in gear)?
Hehe I have not fixed that problem and won't do it because the owner is so scared driving a motorcycle that he will never rev the bike past 7000rpm

Could you make up an adaptor box with an electric motor governed by the pulse rate from the existing sensor?

Don't have the knowledge to do that hehe.

And the owner of the bike does not want to use a gps speedo, he bought a speedo  gauge that he wanted to use and told me that I had to find a way to make it work

Does someone have the dimensions of a xj600 speedo drive, retainer clutch and driver washer?
I cant get any parts here in Iceland and its not fun ordering parts and have to wait 2 weeks to find out that I cant use them

Hi I am making some big changes on a 1990 fzs600 that has a electronic speed sensor and I was wondering if someone has found a mechanical speedo drive that fits to use with some vintage speedometers

Best regards Örn
