exup cables - adjuster covers?
« on: 27 January 2013, 09:12:57 pm »

i can't believe that this is the third winter that i've owned my fazer! so this is the third time that i've stripped and cleaned and lubricated the exup valve...  this year however the lower cable (at the valve end) is too loose. having read haynes and pat's page on adjustments i found that where i was expecting my cable adjustment nuts there's just plastic sheathing type covers. i can't seem to slide them away easily enough so 2 questions:

are these normally fitted?

should i simply cut them away?

is it clean enough?

No need to cut ... you should be able to just slide them clear to reveal the adjuster nuts.  Try a squirt of WD40 if necessary. :)

you could also warm the plastic up with a hairdryer to make it more flexable  :)
