the gas was too rich on the weld and the rivets are too big and too widely spaced as well.

« on: 27 January 2012, 06:52:00 pm »
when i used KAIS i found them to be money grabbing shysters who did a p!sspoor job and made it fairly obvious that were subbing work out and not
a)able to maintain quality control
b)actually inspect the work when returned

yes they've been going for yonks, but that was my experience of them. people have had bad experiences with maxton etc.

General / Re: organise the Europe trip!!

if the aim of the trip is a p!ss up/porn/toke fest, then stay in belgium rather than go to paris.
the quality/strength of belgian monastic lager is world famous.
Bruge or Gent are far prettier than paris, plus if you go to Bruge you get to talk in an oirish accent saying 'look, it's a feckin dwarf!'
parisian traffic is NOT for the novice european driver.

« on: 23 January 2012, 05:32:15 pm »
could i just expound the myth of 'high flow' filters.
if you fit an oiled filter, it will clog up with detritus faster than a plain paper filter (think of it as fly paper). pretty soon it will become a 'low flow' filter unless you clean it every 1000 miles or so.
i prefer to coat the inside of the airbox intake with chain lube and use a paper filter.
high flow = high maintainance (ime)

« on: 19 November 2011, 08:50:24 pm »
as a gentleman of more 'mature' proportions myself, i had to change the springs to get mine to handle a bit.
1kg/mm linear springs on the front £88, 1 litre of 5w oil £9, 525lb spring from faulkners..................£25.
firm solo ride or compliant 2 up.
surprised no one has said the standard set up is shit unless you're a racing snake.
