FZS600 Fazer / Re: Anyone know the correct name for this?
« on: 30 August 2015, 11:55:40 pm »
It's actually for the aftermarket twin headlamp nose fairing I'm going to fit. It's exactly like a bicycle seat post clamp but smaller (10mm max diameter). The fairing is quite weighty so I want to mount it top and bottom and not just to the headlamp mounting bolts. Thanks for the offer Wraith600, I need four in total. If you'd be prepared to post them for me give me a price and I can pay you by PayPal. Please send me a PM and I'll give you my address. Thanks again for everyone's help.

I need to fit an aftermarket fairing after dropping my fazer and need a few extra clamps like those pictured below. Trouble is without the correct name I can't hunt any down. With all the knowledgeable bods on this forum someone should know.
Thanks in advance.

There are two knobs in this video.
The first one is wearing a 'Polite' vest.
The second one is a foul mouthed bigot who seems to have time to waste following people around for no other reason that to condemn them, get a life or better still enjoy your own bike.
Borderline sociopath.

Welcome to the fold. I hope it's cheap doing it up. I need a fairing and breakers are asking around £150 without postage. Happy and safe riding.

Gearbox oil, EP90. It will stink but paint it on sparingly and it will rustproof, lubricate and will not be thrown off. I've used it to rustproof all manner of things motorcycle, if only the stink wasn't so bad. Beware though if you don't wear gloves you'll never get the smell off your hands.

Dropped the fecker on a diesel spill at the approach to a roundabout.
Actually it was late on Wednesday night but I've  been nursing bruises the size of dinner plates up till now.

It's a damn sight cheaper to fix the bike and pretend I'm deaf.
Call me romantic but after 33 years if marriage I still love the old nag.

I need a boxeye fairing in either gold/black /silver, gold or black.
Also right mirror fairing bracket and right front indicator.
Any chance you've still got any of these?
Thanks and all the best.

For Sale & Wanted / To streetfighter or not?
« on: 20 August 2015, 11:16:29 am »
After a recent low speed crash I need a fairing but have noticed they ae as rare as hen's teeth. I realise I may have to go down the streetfighter/naked route. That would at least solve the poor lighting issues but can anyone tell me how much this will affect my insurance premiums due to being "modified".
Does anyone have any recommendations for aftermarket nose fairings that have decent lights.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
All the best.

Feeling like a right tool after a fifteen mph crash on a diesel spillage.
I now need a boxeye fairing in either gold/black/silver, gold or black.
Also a right front indicator, a right side mirror fairing bracket and a some bar end weights.
I'm sitting here being nagged by the wife for still biking at 56.
"I told you so" isn't what you want to hear when you're in pain and about to be out of pocket. Any help will be gratefully appreciated as I want to back on the road as soon as possible.
All the best.

It's rare that the bushes have worn because when they get stuck in the holders they stay there  so no longer wear. The motor will run with them like this but will 'give up' when under load. If you clean the holders then the bushes should spring into place. Search ebay and you'll find 'Flymo carbon brushes' for around  £5. Good luck.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: HID Headlights
« on: 11 August 2015, 11:06:39 pm »
I'm thinking of fitting  HIDs and asked my mate (MOT Inspector) about legality. His reply was the only specific criteria for motorcycles is they musn't dazzle other road users. So when I get them fitted i will take them down to his beam alignment machine and have them set up properly. I figure if HIDs are 300% brighter than halogens then i can afford to set them a little lower than normal to avoid dazzle. With regards to bulb life, i once paid over £27 for a pair of Osram H7 Nightbreakers which although fitted to a car lasted less than 5 months. Anything fitted to a motorcycle gets an hard life due to vibration, extreme temperatures and exposure to the elements. You can buy two HID lamps off ebay for under a tenner, if I had to pay £20 a year to be able to actually  see at night I'd be happy to.

Have a craic with Johnakay, he'll be able to make you a bespoke rack. He made me one and it's a beauty.

Remove the top cover and then check the motor brushes. Chances are they'll be loose, dirty or even clagged up with crap. It happened to mine. I done the above (obviously after disconnecting it from the mains) and liberally sprayed the brush holders with WD40 so they can move freely up against the rotor. Hope this helps.

No, but that's funny. It was drive twice round the block and if I see you doing something wrong you'll fail. He asked me why I didn't do the emergency stop the first time round but I had to explain I hadn't been round due to traffic jams. He'd obviously stepped out in front of a complete stranger who quiet rightly thought he was a loon.
A few month later I took my IAM test because I wanted cheap insurance for a Suzuki GS1000E. Happy Days :D.

Well slimwilly, I'm a misguided fool, about what? And how the hell has it got nothing to do with the unions. The unions are a collective.
Basically what you are telling me is that anyone employed in any capacity that may affect you has no right to strike. That means that nurses, fireman, train drivers and the like will have to suffer financial hardship and deteriorating conditions just so they don't inconvenience you.
I agree that the unions in the 70's had far to much power and behaved irresponsibly. However I don't want to return to tugging my forelock and being totally subservient to the employer like it was before the Trade Union movement began.
You should lighten up a bit, we all have to suffer but A days train strike isn't the end of the world.

The media in general are a bunch of forty faced tw*ts. They are negative in almost every aspect of  motorcycling  but when they want to sell you something or jazz up a movie  they use motorcycles.  Bunch of c*nts.

I think your missing the point here slimwilly. Strike is always the last option. I've been a Shop Steward for 36 years and been on strike once. That was to get the company I work for to honour an agreement they'd consistently welched on for over five years. As for no one supporting strikers, that's exactly what the torys want as they are currently engaged in moves to seriously curtail unions powers, no just on striking but also on representation and safety issues. Any public body will have virtually no chance of withdrawing their labour.  Cue nurses paid even less with no redress, mass exodus of nurses, the end of the NHS. Just what the tories want. Unity is the only way forward, with it comes occasional distress and discomfort but without it the plight of the underpaid, zero hours contract workers and similar will get worse. I gave financial support at the last fireman's strike which wasn't about money but pensions. Few people condemn the firemen for striking because it's a dangerous and necessary service.  Why condemn others for defending their rights with a last ditch effort against their employers. People only see the media's side. Banks are making staff redundant whilst the clown Osborne sells off bank shares to his mates in the city at well below the going rate costing the tax payer millions. How many public sector workers could have had their first decent pay rise in four years with that money?

The stupid young bitch who cut me up at a road junction this afternoon.
I was approaching to turn right when she cut across the junction by 5 feet, still in fairness the stupid bitch didn't see me because she was busy on her mobile phone at the time.
Housing estate during the summer holidays - what could possibly go wrong with the way she drives.

For Sale & Wanted / Re: Wanted - boxeye side light bulb holder.
« on: 29 July 2015, 02:03:29 am »
Unbelievable, Fowlers want almost £25 for a bulb holder. I'd nip down to the scrappy first and find something similar off a car or make something fit.
I'm not tight by any means but that's just daylight robbery. How can anyone justify that?
