FZS600 Fazer / fzs missfire
« on: 27 July 2013, 05:50:34 pm »
Hi all,

Four months ago my '98 fazer died on me on the by pass doin about 80.
Fiddled with the choke an dropped down to 3rd and it picked up again but wasn't running quite right. managed to limp home 4 miles,  by which time it it was back to normal.

No probs since then apart from tickover so, 3 weeks ago, took off the tank and drained off quite a bit of water. Cleaned thoroughly an flushed carbs out till they ran clear. Have had no trouble till today, when the same thing happened on the same by pass!
Got home again with the help of the choke and low and behold its now running 'normal' again.
However there is a bit of a missfire when revving steadily up to 7-8000 rpm and tickover is a little erratic, the rev counter fluctuating 9-1000 rpm.
Seems like a fuel issue but would be glad of any advice.

FZS600 Fazer / 28000 mile service
« on: 09 January 2013, 06:57:29 pm »
Hi, I own a '99 fzs 600 and for the last 3 years have enjoyed riding it. My only gripe is having to rev the nuts off it to get away from a standstill.
The bike has full service history up to 24000 mls and has now just passed 29000 mls.
Can anybody tell me what I should be doing for its 28000 mls service, I have replaced chain and sprockets and stripped and greased up the swing arm linkage. Brakes are spot on, very little play in the headstock. Engine starts and runs sweet although there is a slight tappety noise on start up. :rolleyes

Introduction / 28000 mile service
« on: 08 January 2013, 03:23:04 pm »
Hi, my '99 fazer600 has now done 28000 miles without any probs. It has service history up to 24000 miles. I do oil / filters myself, swing arm stripped and greased so no excess play, brakes ok and generally seems in good condition. Any suggestions on what I should be doing for next service would be appreciated. :rolleyes

Well worth a look

FZS600 Fazer / cruising
« on: 17 February 2012, 06:47:42 pm »
Has anyone done a long trip on a Fazer. Thinking of going to Assen for this years Moto GP. Got to get from Cornwall to the tunnel first.
What would be a reasonable, sustained cruising speed  and how long between breaks on average, bearing in mind I'm an old git

Howdy, just joined the forum and initialy am interested in gaining experience in FZS 600 mechanical servicing, repair etc.
Living in Cornwallshire and enjoy buzzing around whenever I can, which is quite often now I have retired.
Will trawl the forum to see what's doing. :)
