Different Downpipes!
« on: 30 August 2015, 02:12:46 pm »
Has anyone ever tried fitting the undertail style downpipes from an FZ6 to an FZS600?

But do the headers etc actually line up? I'm doing a completely custom build with a whole new rear subframe so it can be catered for,  just wondering if the headers meet the exhaust outlets okay

I'm no fazer expert but I think you'll find the later model had a completely different engine (R6 where as early models were derived from Thundercat)
Complete fabrication, I didn't make it up!

It's a different engine with different dimensions & sits at a different angle! If you want to build an underseat exhaust as you are building a new subrame, it would be easier just to start from scratch with some stainless tube, a pipe bender & a tig welder. You will need to do lots of dyno runs tho as manufacturers spend a fortune designing exhausts to get the optimal pipe length etc it isn't as easy as it looks!

Ahh I thought that might be the case!  Maybe I could look at pairing up the fazer downpipes with the fz6 system. It's going to be on a dyno for a bit anyway as I'm installing pod filters and dynojetting it.
