So a few days ago, I took the starter relay out of the bike to clean the contacts whilst I was deep into the electrical side of things. I pulled the block that holds the fuses off the top and somehow managed to snap the little metal plate that links the battery terminal to the fuse. Are these little metal plates obtainable seperately or do i have to get a new starter relay? thanks guys!

has anybody ever seen a single sided swingarm on an fzs before?
That's what I was going for before I ran out of money.
VFR750 swingers are a close fit, but will need new collars and internal spacers made at a machine shop. I never got to that stage, but offering it up showed it might be possible.
Any chance you could grab some dimensions from the vfr swingarm for me when you can?

Hi, yeah replaced the battery yesterday. Old one was down a cell, we now have a spark! And yeah was testing against cylinders, however I have a spark plug tester now, makes like easier! Thanks guys

ohh ok, haha just tested the rear lights and upon pressing the starter the voltage drops to under 7v aswell, so guessing there's a short somewhere causing a big voltage draw, explains the dead battery!

Hi guys, getting fed up of still getting no spark on my fazer cafe racer build. Been through all the micro switches (sidestand etc) tested the coils, leads, plugs etc. Even tried another wiring loom, but still nothing. The new loom fixed the problem of a badly installed alarm and nothing happening when the starter was pressed. I am now thinking its the CDI box itself, i tested the voltage reaching the coils and without turning over its about 12.8 volts, but when the button is pressed it drops to about 7v? should this be happening? If anyone has any other ideas please speak out! haha
Cheers guys Max

Got hold of two more coils and no difference, my only guess is that it's one of the microswitches ie Sidestand, clutch etc or the relay that controls them, more exploring!

Hi Guys, so today was the day to start the girl up after re-installing the engine during my cafe racer build Ignition on, fuel pump primed, neutral light on, press the button, engine turns over but no start. Go to check for spark and there is nothing from cylinder 1/4 (coil plugged in, spark plug grounded on engine, no spark upon pressing the button). Whipped out the multi-meter to check the resistance of the primary and secondary winding coils and plug caps as per haynes manual, to find all the readings are within the ranges specified. I am still learning all about this, but could there be any other problems or is that a replacement lead/coil? Cheers Max

Hi, yeah from the looks of that you could be right! Will get hold of a length of hose and cut some up, all the parts it came with were in old cardboard boxes so guessed I might be short a few parts, thanks for the help
