IPSGA
Information, Position, Speed, Gear, Acceleration

info wise, you've misjudged their speed
position, waiting to join a main road, let them pass
Speed, in this instance.....thiers not your's, how many times have we heard car drivers say or be told that bikes are deceptively quicker than you think
Gear, you'd be in 1st?
Acceleration, not a chance as the car was slow, let them all pass (move off when safe to do so blah blah blah)
I'm not an IAM instructor or examiner but its all about observation (Info bit) and I think he may have failed you

to paraphrase what JZS said............treat everyone as a pleb and you won't go far wrong

I've stayed in 2 TL's one in Glasgow the other in London and whilst the food aint great, I can't knock the places. I suppose all "chains" have bad places but that's no excuse for dirty area's or poor customer care.
I understand the bit about getting the kids to sleep but maybe a cursory complaint by the other adult at the time with a  full follow up rant in the morning may have been better (hindsight's great innit?)
as for the gesture of goodwill, tell them you will not return and you expect a full refund in the form of a cheque or straight back into your account if you payed by card

having said all this, Chessington?
they're all inbreds down there, what did you expect?

speed alone isn't the problem, if it were, we wouldn't have F1/motoGP/emergency services driving to jobs etc. I agree that being hit at 30 is different to being hit at 60 but there are still mitigating circumstances.
I can come off on a motorway at 50 or 70 and although doing legal speeds, chances are I'll end up a fatal due to road furniture or tailgaters.
was speaking to a lad of 70 who got a ticket for speeding and he done the speed awareness course, said the only 2 things he learnt were TOM and BOB
(learning to use your mirrors.......which is no bad thing) TOM is your offside mirror and you're looking out for Twits on motorbikes (substitute the letter i for an a............this is what they call us on these courses so you get an idea of what they think of us!!!)
BOB is your nearside mirror and you're looking for boys on bikes (kids)
I quite like the algorythms but the fact they refer to us as TW*TS annoys me somewhat

was talking to a 70 yr old fella the other day who said he'd been to France recently and also down to the Olympics. at the Olympics, his mrs wanted a drink of water and he had to pay £1:75 for a small bottle, in France he got a 1.5 L bottle for 25 cents or whatever the French use for money!
he said he saw 1 speed camera at the end of a VERY long stretch of road (said the French are bad for tail gating) got back to blighty and saw 2 or 3 scameras within yards of the Port!!
speed alone doesn't kill.............if it was speed alone, F1/motoGp would be banned, Emergency services wouldn't speed to jobs etc
it may add to the outcome and I can understand if you're hit at 30 then you stand more chance than at 70 but put it this way.........if we have an off at 50 or 70 on the motorway (legal speeds) then I reckon we stand a good chance of becoming another fatal due to road furniture/congested traffic

if you remember the bucket of water song from TISWAS then you'll get an idea when cars were going past!
dark at 14:00 hrs in the afternoon, vehicles with lights on, my feet numb as I ran thru puddles that were over me ankles!
I was as happy as a pig in sh*te :lol

tell the lad to foc off then ring back and get a different lad who quotes me £226.......tell him the same, he says some bollox about rates changing daily, I tell him to go foc himself........over £150 to sit me bike in the garage for a month?
taking the p**s
rang bennetts and got it for £91, added breakdown all for just under £160

my battery was that bad I thought it was faulty so contacted the Co. (fones 4u) got sent a voucher for £25 which I used to get an extended battery (with a free phone back as the bat is slightly thicker)
all seems good now and I also downloaded the free app....juice defender....which helps your battery too (google it)
plug your phone into your pc and download Samsung Kies and you can update to the ice cream sandwich....this update is what theyre using on the S3 you will see the change in your settings go from something like "running gingerbread 2.1.2 or whatever, to 4.1 or something

General / question for the cyclists
« on: 21 June 2012, 09:43:45 am »
I'm looking at getting a turbo trainer and don't know which one, can any of the cyclists recommend or put me off a certain make/model?
have read the wind types are the simplest, mag are better but fluid better still
also been told that only do an hour max on a turbo, any opinions on that one?

cheers

« on: 21 June 2012, 09:34:56 am »
when you find a spill report it to the local council, fine if you're local but not very productive when passing through I know. councils have a duty of care and will take steps to clean it up when reported, may even help you if you then have a spill later and no clean up has been completed

I've got the S2 and sometimes I find it very hard to read the screen in strong sunshine, is this something that only occurs with touch screen phones as I never had issues with me older normal phone or is it just my phone and what can I do about it?
also, sometimes the screen brightness dims to nothing .......when I look at the screen brightness (as recommended above) my auto brightness is off and the bar will have moved right over to the left, why is this happening and how do I stop it?
cheers

« on: 27 May 2012, 09:37:04 am »
never without them now, only use the cheap foam ones but they make a vast difference. If you do ride without them, try some then go back and ride without them and  you notice the wind noise and engine noise big time. You'll never ride without them again and your ears will thank you for it

UNBELIEVABLE :eek

some woman chief saying it will only be backroom, I see this as the thin end of the wedge and as others have said.....wide open to abuse
G4 have proven many times that they're not fit to run the ops for the Prison Service/courts etc
Police today, Ambo's/Fire tomorrow and everyone else they see fit as and when :eek

I had murder with 3 a few yrs back, wouldn't touch them now. Infact, if they were the last mobile operators on the planet then I'd revert to 2 cups and piece of string
avoid them like the plague

sorry Phil, not much help but looking for an I phone 3gs now and its all come flooding back, I'll have to go for a lie down now :lol
