Don't know if yours lives in the wet much, but my sons bike (same model) showed some strange symptoms like this, also intermittentely dodgy tempature guage, found the main connector onto the ECU had got water into it, dried it out, cleaned connections, put some silicon grease on the connector seal, been ok since, worth a quick check
Well I changed the oil and gave it all a good clean and sprayed a connector cleaner into it and it seems to have worked ok , fingers crossed  , cheers mate  .

FZ6 / Fazer / Re: dual compound rear tyre - worth having ?
« on: 06 June 2014, 08:12:47 pm »
If your shredding your tyres after 1500 miles there's a good chance your suspension is set up wrong.
If you read my post I did give the reason for it  on front tyre , I am making an enquiry now about dual compounds on rear tyres as there are several on the market .

Ah, I get ya (I think) - you have a dual compound front but not rear and are now looking to stick one on the rear?

If that's the case, I love my 23s so I would just stick one of those on the rear, especially if you already have one on the front. Although I probably wouldn't change it until your rear is worn/knackered.
Yes you got it , on last years mot he gave me an advisory on rear so thought I would match it with the front but read up on the Conti attack 2 which is also a dual compound and considering that , anybody used them ?

There are indeed several on the market, including the ones you've got (as hightower pointed out).

So if there's a faulty batch out there, Bridgestone are giving you a load of money back, and issuing a recall, yes?
Tyre fitter said was only happening on 021 tyres since I changed to 023 no problem , Bridgestone would not accept liability for the fault however .

« on: 05 June 2014, 12:59:39 pm »
My rear tyre needs changing for mot (FZ6 07 plate) , I fitted Bridgestone BT021 after the originals wore out but front 021 only did 1500 miles and started to  break up -shredding rubber (tyre fitter said it was a fault he was having loads of em ) so changed to Bridgestone 023,s but I considering a dual compound tyre on rear now for better wear , anyone tried one ?
Im  gonna need it to be compatable with the front 023 , are they more expensive , whats best prices for them ?

04 - 06 FZ600 has Silver engine, silver frame, single circular speedo/rev counter, rectangular swinging arm and 2 piston sliding front calipers

06 - ? FZ600 S2 has Back Engine, Black Frame, oblong Speedo with attached circluar Rev counter, 4 piston front calipers and chamfered edges on the swinging arm
something wrong somewhere then , the plate on mine is 07 , registered and books for the S2 and even the last service I had and frame numbers/engine coming up on parts as for the S2  but clocks don't match and frame / engine are silver !
Will checkout the brake pots tomorrow  :lol

If the engine management light is staying on just take it down to a Yamaha dealer and get them to plug there diagnostics into it and will tell you what the problem is, might not even need Yamaha dealer other dealers have the things needed. Only reason I mentioned Yamaha was I think it is some of the newer Triumphs have to go to a main dealer, that's why I got an S2 and not the Speed Triple I was looking at as the dealer did say I would have to have it serviced at a Triumph dealer.

If your lucky they will do the diagnostic part for free, once you know what is wrong can either stick with them or take it somewhere else or do it yourself depending on what it is.
Onlything is I need the engine running to get there   :rolleyes ;)

having a problem in that the engine fault warning light coming on , as your aware when you turn the ignition key all the warning lights come on but should then go off as you start up , well got the bike out on weekend and it wouldn't start up ,the engine fault warning is staying on , tried few more times and she eventually started but then cut out , tried again yesterday and fault light would not go out so bike wouldn't start again , my bike is the S2 FZ6 with ABS on 07 plate ?

FZ6 / Fazer / Re: Headlights FZ6 S2 2008
« on: 28 May 2014, 08:44:14 am »
I did a police rider course about four years ago and my FZ6S2 was only two years old at the time ,whilst we were having a break on the first day I mentioned whilst we were talking bikes about the headlight - only being one bulb lite on dipped and he said it was standard on motorcycles now as through research it was found to make drivers more aware of motorcycles and as said when you flash onto full beam it makes a vast difference .

FZ6 / Fazer / Re: Fz6 S2 or not ?

The FZ6 is based around the fuel-injected R6 engine and replaced the old carburetted Fazers which used the Thundercat engine when the emissions rules changed in 2003.

The FZ6-S was produced from 2004 to 2007 when it was replaced by the S2 which has had a few minor tweaks eg better fuelling and less snatchy throttle coming out of bends and slightly better brakes, but there's not that much difference between them and AFAIK the S2 doesn't have noticably more power.

Generally the easiest way (apart from production date) to tell them apart is to look at the instrument cluster, this is the FZ6-S and this is the S2.

You cant always go by the clocks particularly on the changeover year , mines an 07 model S2 with ABS and it has the clocks shown in the first link , I bought it new in 07 so have the invoice ,handbook/manual etc all for the S2 ABS .

Last time I went was a couple of years ago on the black Fazer 1000 as a friend had been given some tickets, did marshal there a couple of times which was great as we were fed and watered, but still had time to look at cars etc.
I normally ride down on the day as relatively near and the roads are awesome anyway. Have a couple of spare beds and a caravan plus room for bikes for next year FOC near Sevenoaks Kent. :sun
Your links didn't work , were they for f.o.s.

I'm looking to improve mine too; Osram Nightbreakers seem to be the popular choice, I've yet to try them.

I got some Xenon H4 / H7 bulbs from Halfords that claimed to be "90% brighter" - it didn't say what it was 90% brighter than though, so could simply be 90% brighter than a candle....
Have you done the headlight mod yet ?
