For Sale & Wanted / Oxford Boss Alarmed Disc Lock - £40 posted
« on: 20 November 2013, 12:27:25 am »
Hey guys,

Got ten of these to shift if anyone on here is interested? Come with a disc lock reminded cable and the required batteries.
Pretty much Oxfords top of the range alarmed disc lock, nice thick 14mm shackle, and a seriously piercing alarm makes for a good combination - can be used either as a disk lock or a chain lock!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/OXFORD-BOSS-ALARM-ULTRA-STRONG/dp/B000R57X2Q
RRP is £74.99, cheapest I can find on eBay is £65 posted, so who fancies one at £40 posted?
As with the grips, money is going towards a good cause - in this case a headlight unit for a ZX9R (on the off chance someone has one lying around!)

Cheers chaps!

Joe

Edit: Price dropped to £40 including postage, that's almost half RRP!

For Sale & Wanted / FZS 1000 Givi Rack
« on: 08 November 2013, 11:38:21 am »
Anyone out there interested?
Got a monokey rack for the FZS 1000, also got the side monokey pannier rails which I'm pretty certain I've got all the bits for?

Hi guys,

Managed to get a job lot of Oxford heated grips to flog on to get some money to put towards my next bike (afraid it won't be a Fazer, I've decided I want another Ninja, I do apologise  :lol )
As it's winter coming, anyone fancy a top notch heated grip at a bargain price?
Forum price of just £50 posted (£15 off the next cheapest off eBay, and it's for a good cause!  :lol )
I've got approximately 25 pairs of these grips, the vast majority are the premium sports grip (with the intelligent one piece new style controller), I've got about 4 of the premium touring grips, and then a couple of the older types of sports grips (which are exactly the same, but have the control unit and relay unit as two different blocks).

Anyone out there that fancies having nice toasty hands over the winter?

EDIT: Did have them up at £55 posted, but managed to find a site online selling them for that so dropped price by a fiver to beat that!

EDIT:
Right guys, down to one set of the plain sports grips left, and two sets of the adventure grips now.

Anyone lingering out there that still wants a set before they're all gone?!

FZS600 Fazer / Reserve
« on: 21 September 2013, 04:07:03 pm »
For all you fox eye owners out there, how far do you usually go on reserve?
I've just had my light come on at 200 miles, apparently that means I've got 3.6L left before I'm running on empty, so if I did about another 20 miles before filling up I should in theory be okay.
That said, I don't really want to find the claimed size of the tank is actually bigger than its realistic size and end up having to push the old girl to the nearest petrol station!

General / Best Sporty Tyre?
« on: 21 September 2013, 01:15:42 am »
What sporty tyres are there out there that come in the 110/70 and 160/60 sizes on the FZS 600?

I quite like the idea of putting some nice and properly grippy on for the rest of summer, get a few decent days in and then swap back to the current ones on there as they're okay normally but trying to push the bike isn't exactly giving me a lot of confidence at the moment!

Kinda fancied the idea of something along the lines of Michelin Pilot Power 3, the next step up from the Pilot Road 3s?

General / Controversial Topic
« on: 13 September 2013, 02:59:52 pm »
Well we all know that the Fazers are good all around bikes, but I thought I'd go out and ask a properly damnable question - what, if anything, are you all planning on getting next, and why?

The next bike I'll be having will either be either another late model ZX9R (2000-2004), or an early GSX-R1000 (same years), funds allowing.
I miss the acceleration and handling of a proper liter sports bike, yet both of these bikes are more than comfy (for me at least, the 9 I imagine pretty much for anyone) and have enough luggage options and tank range that mean I'll still be able to do long distance riding. I think the only real downer will be the pillion provision won't be as good, but then in fairness that's not exactly that much of a surprise!

For Sale & Wanted / FZS 1000 Bits
« on: 11 September 2013, 05:36:25 pm »
Got some left over bits from my FZS1000:

Set of aftermarket Spazzo levers for it - long, silver, with black adjusters.
Set of black preload adjusters
Givi monokey rack and matching side rails for monokey panniers
Standard tyres off them, 120/70 and 180/60 - these might be okay for commuting on but were definitely not any good for my more agressive riding!

General / FZS 600 Query
« on: 09 September 2013, 01:53:48 pm »
There was only one red for the Foxeye wasn't there? After a bagster tank cover and I'm getting quite confused as to why there appears to be two different colours for the Foxeye on their site!

FZS600 Fazer / Rear Caliper
« on: 04 September 2013, 06:21:25 pm »
Just noticed today that it has two bleed nipples, seeing as it has only one hose, how on earth does that work? I've never seen one with twin nipples and when I bled it last time didn't do both, which might explain why it doesn't feel particularly useful!
Or is it there just to make life easier when bleeding?

General / HT Leads "Ticking"
« on: 24 July 2013, 07:11:31 pm »
Is this normal? I've never had a bike with them before, but I can definitely hear them ticking, stuck my head next to the engine and could hear it, pulled one of them off the spark plug and could still hear it, then got my face a bit too close to it and got a bit of a spark - gave me a bit of a shock!  :lol

General / Another Question - this time on crash protection?
« on: 21 July 2013, 08:54:52 pm »
Hi guys,

Got another question for you all - would anyone be interested in buying crash protection off an aquantance I know that can manufacture it? I know him through the ZX9R forum I was on, where he manufactured fairing sliders (big ones like R&G make), bar ends, swingarm and fork protectors and bobbin type ones as well, which were all extremely well regarded by the members of the forum, a great deal of whom had also had cause to test them, with excellent results! (well, as excellent as a crash can be!)

I think initially they would be offered for the FZS 600 (i'm assuming all years, as they're pretty much the same bike!) as it's the bike I've got so I could supply measurements for him, but his range could potentially be extended out to cover the other FZS and FZ models if people lived nearby so could pop round for a measure up, or could supply the photos and measurements that he would require in order to make them?

Prices were very reasonable, I think the main ones for the Ninjas were about £50, but they were also considerably more complex than  would be required on our bikes (as they had to have a modified coolant bottle supplied, which if you returned your original was also good for a £10 cashback), and the fork, swingarm and bar ends were about £20 each I believe. All top quality stuff as well!

General / Brake Pads
« on: 21 July 2013, 01:53:22 pm »
Know this has been done a bit before (well, a LOT before  :lol ) but I need a quick bit of advice on pads.
Front pads I'm pretty certain will be needing replacing, I can't see them very well on the bike but I reckon they're close, so will probably be replacing them with Carbone Lorraine as I've had them before, and they're bloody excellent.
The rear may not need doing as I don't tend to use it as much at all, but would still like to do it anyway really for peace of mind, but not sure what to put in there. The reason I like the CL pads up front is because they've got a fair bit of initial bite, followed by a lot of power. I don't mind having decent power at the rear, but I don't want bite - the main times I use the rear are to stabilise the bike a bit whilst leant over, and I really don't want to be locking the rear whilst leant right over if possible!
So, what type of pad should I be looking for, in order to get a decent amount of braking power, but without the initial bite?
Cheers fellas!

General / Rear Brake Lever
« on: 21 July 2013, 01:36:24 pm »
Going to assume that they are all the same on the FZS 600, from the first boxeyes until the foxeyes?

Realised yesterday that the reason mine is so annoying to use is because its slightly bent in, that combined with my feet usually sticking out a little means that I don't really get much of my foot on it!

General / Engine bars/Crash Bungs
« on: 21 July 2013, 12:29:10 am »
Which would probably be the better to fit to my fzs 600 in terms of protection? Would also be worth noting that I'm planning on taking her out on track for a day or two, and to be honest that's the main reason I'm thinking of getting them! Don't really want to tempt fate and not have them  :rolleyes

And what brand is best? Went on ebay and searched for bars and there were at least 4 makes that I could tell of, crash bungs I imagine there'll be even more!

General / HEL Braided Hoses Discount
« on: 16 July 2013, 05:10:34 pm »
In a  (possibly 25%) discount off HEL braided brake hoses and their other parts?

Very good quality hoses, usually about £90 for the set front and rear, stainless lines with importantly, stainless banjos (lot of other places use coating).
I'm a member of another forum which gets a discount off them, will be ringing up tomorrow to order a set of hoses, and thought I'd see if I could negotiate a discount on behalf of this forum too? THere's certainly enough of us to make it worth their while if everyone who wanted hoses went to them!

EDIT: Right guys, rang up HEL and they said that they'd be more than happy to offer a 25% discount for their hoses and all other parts for us, so if anyone wants brake hoses, or any other braking related parts that they do, then give them a ring direct on +44 (0)1392 811 601, let them know that you're a member of the Fazer Owners Club forum, and then order your bits, and you'll get the discount!

FZS600 Fazer / FZS 600 Rear Sprocket
« on: 12 July 2013, 11:27:43 am »
Is it the same as any other bikes? I want a red supersprox sprocket for it, which I'm going to have to order directly from the manufacturer, but they don't list a red one for the FZS - hoping to find another bike which shares the same sprocket so I can order one that does come in red, and will fit!

FZS600 Fazer / 28k Service
« on: 11 July 2013, 06:16:12 pm »
Right guys, as my bike has now come up to 28k, decided I'm going to give it a full service. Got a list together, but was wondering if there was anything else that would likely need checking that isn't in the Hayes manual, or that should probably be done anyway?

Right, here goes:
-Strip and clean calipers, check pads, replace brake fluid and brake hoses for braided. Check the brake system as a whole, and the operation of the - brake lights.

-Check and regrease swingarm, suspension, wheel and steering bearings

-Check and lubricate clutch/gearshift/brake lever/brake peadl/sidestand/centrestand pivots and throttle/choke/clutch cables

-Check all electrical connections and clean with contact spray

-As I've still got my strange low down running symtoms (cutting out on cylinders beneath 5k ish revs), going to take the carbs apart and clean them up

-Check the fuel system and hoses

-Drain, flush, and replace the coolant

-Clutch is making quite a noise at the moment, heard of grumbly clutches before but mine is properly rattly, so going to be checking that as well

-Engine oil and filter change

-Clean and reoil air filter

-Change spark plugs and compression test

-Check CCT

-Carb balance and idle speed check

-Once I've done all that lot, I'm hoping that whatever is causing my strange low down running will stop. That said, probably going to go ahead and check the valve clearances anyway, just in case my bike is the one Fazer 6 that does need doing!

So, what have I missed?!

FZS600 Fazer / Standard Toolkit
« on: 24 June 2013, 04:34:04 pm »
Hi guys,

Just found out I'm missing my standard toolkit for my 03 fox-eye, so unless someone has one lying around and fancies selling it to me I'll be needing to put one together!

So, what exactly is in a standard toolkit? And out of interst, what else do you guys tend to keep under your seats in case it comes in handy?

FZS600 Fazer / Quick action throttle
« on: 24 June 2013, 04:01:57 pm »
Anyone know of one available for the FZS 600?
Have had one from another bike on all my bikes so far (the hornet 6 I put an SP2 tube on, the ZX9R a ZX10R tube on etc), so was wondering if there was a common mod for these bikes too? Its extremely annoying having to shuffle my wrist slightly to fully open the throttle, I'd much rather something I can just twist a bit and have it whacked fully open, 1/5 or 1/6 turn, as compared to whatever the Fazers standard one is!

FZS600 Fazer / Running Issues
« on: 22 June 2013, 03:07:16 pm »
Hey guys,

Had my FZS 600 about a week, and so far it's been spot on.
Went to take it out today though, and it definitely wasn't running right. It started as usual, but the tickover was rather unstable, Riding it to begin with was also not right, it wasn't revving right (similar to a water in the fuel symptoms for people that know what that feels like), but cleared after about 6k revs and started riding as normal. Carried on doing that for a couple of miles, and then it seemed to go back to normal.
Any suggestions as to what it could be? I'll be giving it a service at some point imminently anyway just for peace of mind more than anything, so will get new brake hoses and fluid, oil and oil filter change, air filter clean out and reoil (it's a K&N), carbs balanced etc (plus whatever else it says to do in the Haynes manual).

For Sale & Wanted / Fazer 6 Bits Wanted
« on: 15 June 2013, 07:25:51 pm »
Hey guys,

As per my post in the 600 section, after a few bits to personalise my new bike a bit.
Certainly on the list is a monokey compatible topbox rack.
Would also be interested in a bagster tank cover for it (it's a bright red 03 foxeye)
After a scottoiler and braided brake hoses too!

Could potentially be after pretty much any bits at the right price though, so what random bits have you got lying around you'd like some beer tokens for?
