Moff I've probably got a couple of friends convinced to join us, so if they are still available they'll provisionally take the other beds in the 4 bed room. I'll hopefully confirm a little later on today, or certainly by Monday.

27
Yes please Moff, can you add me and Debbie to the list please?

28
Hi Andy, if 7th is confirmed then I'm definitely in, will send a deposit over to you mate.

Paul, are you still thinking of flying?

We're back too, thanks for the fantastic weekend as always Moff, and great to see everybody again and meet a few new people too

Well, it was touch and go the last 2 days with a looming likelihood of having my annual leave cancelled, but I've managed to make it out of work this evening only 2 hours late off without too many people being reminded that I'm not actually in the next few days - therefore - my phone is now on it's 'Do not disturb' mode and will not be accepting any calls from Blocked numbers!

Hehe I've never been one for public speaking!

Thanks guys, I am really really grateful, and really overwhelmed at how brilliant and supportive everyone has been!

Apologies, I've been in training today and had to sneak out to answer the phone- but - I am still giddy with excitement, but I won!

Out of around 1821 votes, in the end I won by only 6 - so I would like to offer a huge huge thank you to everybody that voted and shared and got others to vote!

You guys are absolutely incredible!

Thank you!

That's brilliant, thanks! This is just the help that I need!

Touch wood - for the last hour or so I've been ahead by 1%. I'm desperately hoping it stays like that, though there is a smidgen under 4 hours to go.

Last bump before this ends at midnight tonight!

I'm in joint first place, both have 37% (though don't who has the lead by a few votes).

Thanks to everybody who has voted for me and extra thanks to those who have shared this and helped me to get to where I am.

Anybody still thinking about doing it - it does only take seconds to do, or you could watch the video as well and may be worth a vote just to see me fall flat on my backside on the ice!

Thanks guys,
Ventzi

Hey Christo,
Well, since they confirmed to me that he is allowed to use vote exchange both I and my girlfriend have been using them. Not a huge amount of success on there, so perhaps he didn't have too much success either.

I think that the reason that he was so far ahead to begin with, and how he caught up so successfully the last 2 days is that he had help by companies getting people to vote for him on facebook and twitter. He had the charity that he donated to, the rock climbing venue, krispy kreme and Edinburgh tourism sites all helping him.

I tried to get the same - I did get some help from the hospital which I donated the toys to - they were great. Hotel Chocolat have been a huge disappointment - didn't help, kept promising email responses which never came. The ice hockey venue and club also didn't reply. I had tried to donate money to charity, but I wasn't allowed to - obviously they have changed the rules a little bit and allowed him to. I wanted to donate to a kids charity which I'm running a half marathon obstacle course for, but wasn't allowed, which is how I ended up giving the holiday away. Admittedly it worked out really really well, but it's an avenue where I lost out on votes.

I'm trying everywhere that I can think of, but I'm really struggling to think of how to get more votes! A friend promised to announce it on his radio station tonight, I hope he did it (though looking at the scores doesn't look like he did or at least wasn't successful).

Thanks ChristoT. After the stress of this one I don't think I'll be entering any other competitions! Funnily enough I very rarely enter any, even forget to play the lottery most weeks, so I'm lucky to have got this far!

So close now, but he really has bridged the gap :-S

Hey everyone, I do apologise for dragging this topic up again, I just wanted to make another small push for anybody that hasn't yet voted. There's less than 2 and a half days left of the competition, and I am leading but the 2nd place is catching up and only a 2% gap now.

If there is anyone that hasn't yet voted for me, please can I ask you for your help? If you're willing to share with your friends on Facebook I would also be really really grateful! Voting only takes a few seconds if you don't watch the video (though your vote may be worth seeing me fall flat on my backside on the ice!), and you would also enter to win a £5000 experience day for yourself!

Thanks again to everybody who has helped me with this (and who has tolerated my postin on the forum). I've never made such posts before and promise never to again!

My video is called 'Ice and Spice'

Ah, I had an email from them this afternoon. They had a think about it, and decided that they will not consider vote exchange sites as cheating, and they will put them in same category as a forum. I don't quite agree with that logic, but that's fine - I only emailed them to check where I stand.

Hehe that's right, I really appreciate it!

Closing date is midnight on 24th April. I presume that's midnight as in 24th leading into 25th, but waiting to confirm.

Thanks IMAX and Raymy  I really appreciate it.
Also thanks Locksmith, unfortunately they haven't allowed voting by anything other than Facebook, which is a shame. If you do have any family on Facebook though, I'd really appreciate any votes.

I'm winning by 3% at the moment, it's fantastic but would be nice to get a bit more of a lead as it's uncomfortably close!

Thanks

Thanks.

Unfortunately I'm working on the 28th, and at the moment can't use the rest days that I've got saved up as there's too many people off that day!

Closer to the time I may get the time off though with any luck

Cheers mate

Hmmm, a friend of mine has just pointed out to me that the current winner is using Vote Exchange sites on facebook to generate votes. I suppose between this may be why he's been so far ahead.

It's against the terms and conditions, so I'm debating emailing the magazine. At the risk of appearing like a sore loser (though I've catching up magically and only 3% behind him which is awesome!), I couldn't even fathom to use such tactics, especially with my job, unless I email the magazine, and they deem it too complicated to deal with, they may well just tell me to go ahead and do the same thing.

Glad you didn't need the motor insurers bureau. Whilst they are there when all else fails, they had a number of conditions you needed to meet before paying out, and about 10 years ago when I was knocked off by a hit and run driver, all fairly straight forward, but it still took them around 3 years from accident to receiving a cheque - and that was just me accepting the first offer, could have argued for more but I was fed up by then.

Cheers, I really really do appreciate it! Hopefullly I get a few votes. It's frustrating not knowing exactly how far behind I am!

I'm only a member on 2 other forums  - an Aprilia one and an Alfa Romeo one - and the Aprilia one wasn't particularly supportive, and the only reply on the Alfa one is 'dude go away, work harder and buy a car' so I guess that's a no-go either!

I do hate spamming, I feel a bit more ashamed every time I do it, but then I'd kick myself if I got this far and finished in 2nd place (or 3rd 4th or 5th for that matter) and hadn't at least tried to win!

Yes, it's a 1999 CBR600F. Nice bike, just needs a bit of a decent service and it will be ready for all the meets! (Though I still massively miss my Tuono, and hope to get another - most likely if I win this car, sell my current one and then I can get another Tuono!)

The prize is a car! Won't be financial, but then if I win this car, it would mean that I could sell my current car and afford to finish my flat and finally get another bike!

I've got a cheap little cbr600 that I bought for commuting so I intend to make the meets in that though it does need a good service and some new brake disks!
