General / Please Tell Me The Comfiest Comfy Grips You Know
« on: 18 February 2015, 11:58:29 am »
Hiya fellas,

As per title really.

My grips are shot to pieces and looking for a nice, vibe reducing comfy grip that can handle 15k miles a year.

If you've got a set fitted you swear by or know of some you've had then I'd love to buy on recommendation rather than "they look good" and hating them.

Cheers in advance fellas  :thumbup

General / Leather Jacket - Anyone Got One of These
« on: 16 January 2015, 01:16:43 pm »
Hiya fellas,

After many years of textile jackets, I fancy going back to a leather jobby.

Looking at something similar to the one in the link and curious if anyone has one as they seem popular if a little old school. Going to buy used as new are 'kin expensive.

Think one of the main issues is when do they become too hot to wear in the summer. Have my textile teabag jacket for the really hot days. Not fussed about waterproof side either to be honest.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Hiya fellas,

As per title really. Thinking of putting the Tiger to the back of the garage and endulging in my desire for ABS.

Chosen the bike below based on its price, spec, reliability and year round rideability as a commuter to London & back - 100 mile round trip.

Any thoughts good or bad much appreciated.

FZS600 Fazer / Excessive vibration & Whining
« on: 07 August 2014, 10:14:57 pm »
Hiya fellas,

As per title i'm getting a lot of vibration across the whole bike (pegs, tank, bars) and vibration/whining across the entire rev range when under load or on a closed throttle decelerating. This happens in any gear and at any speed.

The vibration totally goes when the clutch is pulled in.

The tyres are new and wouldn't explain the de-clutch side. All engine bolts checked - tight. Chain checked - no tight links or excessive play.

Idles very sweetly with no noise or whining when blipped on stand.

Recent oil change so no issue their. Carbs also balanced.

Am starting to think gearbox but would be grateful of any thoughts.

Cheers in advance  :thumbup

General / For My Kids - Hudl or one of the others
« on: 28 July 2014, 10:13:44 am »
Hiya fellas,

Looking for advice on Tablets for the kids.

A lot of the kids friends have the Hudl and a few have other makes.

Like most of the kids, it will primarily be used for playing games etc. Now I know that if the kids are playing Minecraft then the Hudl can be linked up to a friends and they can play together. Can the same be done with the other Tablets available from Currys as per linky below.

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-netbooks/ipad-tablets-and-ereaders/tablets/889_7505_70535_xx_xx/1_20/price-asc/xx-criteria.html

Just wondering if any of the others are better (up to about £130) or if the Hudl is the best way/best Tablet.

Whichever I go for, it must be able to use the Google Play apps store.

Any advice, as always, appreciated.  :thumbup

FZS600 Fazer / Anyone fitted hand guards to a boxeye?
« on: 24 July 2014, 10:43:05 am »
Hiya fellas,

Again as per title.

Looking to winterise my Fazer and whilst the heated grips can be done I know from riding the Tiger (which may be outed soon) that the hand guards are a substantial help when very cold.

If anyone has fiited some then it would be great if you could post a pic with a few details of the guards and if fitting was ok....I fully appreciate that the full lock may be affected.

Before anyone jumps in - tried muffs and hate them..... nad guards are the future  :lol

General / Go Karting For 9yr Olds - How to start?
« on: 07 July 2014, 10:05:40 pm »
Hiya fellas,

As per title as per usual  :lol

My 9yr old lad is showing an interest in starting go karting so if possible I would like to give him the opportunity.

I don't have a scooby where to start or what to start with - can you hire go karts or do you just buy them & turn up on some track somewhere. Is there a certain group he should in etc.....................

We are in Wokingham, Berkshire so if anyone has any advice on where/how we should start out, to see if he likes it then any advice is much appreciated.

Daddy also likes the idea of buying a go-kart to test it first  :D

« on: 15 May 2014, 10:29:05 am »
Hiya fellas,As per title looking for a small bit of welding work on my exhaust link pipe - dropped at 0mph :groan  on r/h side and got a slit on the outside of the pipe roughly half the diameter which can be welded. It's a clean break.I think its stainless but not 100% sure. If its stainless then I think its a Tig job, if it's mild steel then it's another type of welding....Mig???If anyone fancies a quick fix and a bit of cash (ideally this Sunday) then please feel free to drop me a line.Cheers in hopefulness  :)

FZS600 Fazer / Fazer 600 Box/Fox Monorack Arms
« on: 30 April 2014, 11:25:30 pm »
Hiya fellas,

Would I be right in saying that a Givi Wing Rack/Arms (the pucker rack) from an 01 Boxeye 600 would fit straight onto an 02 Foxeye 600.

Apart from the fairing, tank and a few other bits...the bikes are essentially the same yeah?

Cheers for any advice

General / Waterproof Summer Gloves With Sliders
« on: 30 April 2014, 07:43:39 pm »
Hiya fellas,

As per title really. Been looking all over but can't seem to find any summer gloves that are waterproof and have a palm slider - the palm slider is a must. I always run with 3 sets of gloves but have recently outed the existing winter & summers due to no palm sliders after fracturing my wrist (whilst ice skating  :lol  but its a similar fall reaction).

If any of you have any experience of brands I'd love to hear the feedback...... or any recommendations you may know of.

Looking to pay up to £100

Cheers in advance  :thumbup

Right then fellas, remember this one.

Set out for work at 5.30am with bugger all on roads. Came to a T junction in town, bit of an angle so you have to stop. Put my right foot down....... onto a drain grate and slowly dropped the mighty Tiger as my foot slid across the grate. Was a bit like watching the Titanic go down......bollox, feck & arse!!!!

Got up, kicked myself around the street for a minute then went to pick bike up. At about 240kg, it's a bit of a lump so a heave, puffing n panting, swearing "get up ya bitch"...heaving and grunting like a hill billy having a wank eventually up it comes to a point where I held it one handed to let it go down onto the side stand..........only I'd forgotten to put the feckin side stand down  :wall . Yep......twwwwwwwwat!!!

Down it goes again on the other side and off I go kicking my arse round the street again swearing like a pikey  :lol :lol

Got it back up eventually and had a fag to get me breath back (I know, Irish isn't it).

So had a look and what would've been 1 bar end and a bent rear brake lever turned ito 2 bar ends off, bent brake and clutch lever and a broken indicator.

It's been probably 10 years since I last dropped a bike and all because you forget the friggin side stand  :rolleyes :rolleyes .

Feel free to take the piss - not that you lot need an invite  :lol
