I can't believe i've had another TPS fail on the bike, the 3rd one. :'(
I had that same shivering effect last week so checked it and it was at 10,000rpm but when i adjusted it it didn't happily sit at 5000rpm like it normally does, but it was near it so thought that would be good enough.
Today the bike just didn't feel right, like it was being very slightly held back, so my first thoughts were the air filter but it's a K&N so had my doubts.
Checked the TPS again earlier and it shot up to 10,000rpm again, and when i loosened it to adjust it just stayed put, so it would appear i have another fooked one.
Not gonna bother with buying used ones again, as they're obviously at the very least 13 years old so can fail at any time, so just ordered a new one from Germany at a much lower price than it would be over here.
In fact i just noticed AJ Sutton don't even sell them any more!

Buy a new Suzuki one, about £75 Part No 13550-13D60 :thumbup

Dunno how the bike's gonna behave for the rest of the week now, 'cos i've physically moved the position of it.
If it's knackered then presumably it won't be too much different than it was today?
I left it around the centre mark.

Drossel- throttle, klappen- work, sensor- sensor! Gotta love the German language, :rollin :rollin :rollin
they make compound words just by adding them together. My favourite is handschuhe which is hand and shoe together which means glove, makes perfect sense to me. Anyway, good call darrsi, a much better solution to buying a dodgy unit from a bike breakers :thumbup

It's not that they're dodgy, they work fine when you get them, but they are literally old and used so it's a bit of a lottery how long they last for.
And at around £37 a go it makes sense to stop taking that chance and buy a new one at a 'reasonable' price.

AJ Sutton stated the model i'm getting superceded an older version, but are not available anymore.

So the journey into work wasn't so bad, although the bike blatantly doesn't feel right.
It idles okay surprisingly, but at a steady 3000rpm the bike feels like it's being held back, almost like riding into a strong headwind, or as if it has a dirty air filter (it hasn't).
Once I gave it a bit of welly it's not so noticeable though.
When going slowly round a corner there's a slight jerkiness about it as well, very subtle but it's certainly there, and it makes you keep the revs up for fear of it cutting out, although I don't think it actually would.
I recognise all the signs anyway through previous experience, but maybe these signs may help anyone else experiencing any running weirdness.
Obviously though, if you do a TPS check and the needle can sit quite happily on 5000rpm then it should be running fine.

Sitting at 5000 is just one test to check it. Twisting the throttle slowly until fully open and it should go to 10000 and stay there. If it does it usually means it is working correctly. A dodgy one could go to 0, 5000 or 10000 or alternate between the numbers when you twist the throttle slowly all the way to full. Would be interesting to see what your one does Darrsi.

Mine's not doing anything now, won't budge off 10,000rpm at all when trying to adjust it.
I'm 99% sure it's fooked, plus the bike is showing all the familiar traits of the previous knackered ones as well.

Mine was the same before I changed it and when I tested it the resistance was in Meg Ohms.
It was mostly likely a broken/worn carbon track within the unit.

Just put the new one on, it went straight to 5000rpm without even moving it, I tightened up the screws then twisted the throttle and it went to 10,000rpm then back to 5000rpm on release.
Might check it again when I get home when the engine is warm just to make sure it's positioned correctly but I'm sure it'll be fine.
