General / Re: Have your say - paying for parking at matlock bath
« on: 10 August 2012, 11:58:31 am »
Throwing the cat among the pigeons here but why shouldn't bikes pay a parking fee?
Note wrong with throwing cats - go to Matlock and have a look any semi fine weekend, Theres great roads around there and then the bikes go meet have a snack and ride away again. Now introduce fees and the great roads are still there but there is also a lot of other local haunts/cafes with free parking. But non as big as Matlock bath. The traders depend on the bikes for most of thier income, there is little else stopping traffic with places like haddon/chartsworth, matlock (not bath), buxton etc close by. remove that trade, they close, we miss another place where bikers meet, where you can wonder and have a look at other folks bikes and which still remains a site to warm the heart a huge row of bikes.
Last years cold wet weather keeping the bikes away actually closed a couple of traders..

Hi Brizz never go to MFN, way to close, i could almost walk it.
I dont know if there are other locals there is no members map that I can find.
I used to ride out with friends a lot but it dwindled off, they got wifes, husbands, families, made redundant, retired, etc and now theres only me and my mate Dave that still ride and we rarely go out at the same time. Ill have a word with him and another Dave whos retired, my names also David, no joke, we even used to ride with a fourth Dave, we decided the collective noun for Daves is a dodge of daves. Then see if we can get a date to have a poddle.
Keep smiling..

Time for some changes and your input/advise would be much appreciated.. 95% solo riding 5% with a pillion, solo riding normally in attack mode or waiting to attack mode.
Issues, lack of low down grunt (handy when a pillions on), occasional snatch when accelerating hard out of conrners, massive vibes through bars and rear pegs 4 - 5500 rpm (might have to live with this one), needs better brakes, pogos occasionally
Brakes - braking wavey disks and hell lines with sintered pads, been there before and they are ace
Low down power and snatching options, number one priority and where my money will go first. Fit an FCE yes or no and where would I get one fitted ( I live near Derby but dont mind travelling). Can and no map/ can and powercommander/ can, powercommander and no exup/any other options.
Suspension options??
I dont need to reinvent this stuff you guys and girls have done this stuff succesfully and maybe unsucesfully so all halp and advice mucho appricaited

Only me.. Previously mainly rode a GSX1400 heavily modded and raced enduro's on a husky wr250. Now down to the one bike a 2009 fazer 1000 currently standard even though Ive had it for 2 years (not standard for long, improvements needed now the GSX has gone). The GSX1400.org forum was ace and very very friendly and helpfull so Im hoping you guys will be too as the fazer is a keeper. Ive had a quick look around the site as has useual loads of differing opinions, loads of advice and loads of laughs.
So FCE's, akraprovics and customs maps to ask about (metzler m5's already a personal choice) and getting my head around why I need bits in my exhaust that will rot and cause me issues later will be my intial beggings and pleadings; and Ill go do some profile stuff.
Speak to you all soon, virtualy, hopefully meet some of you at some point.
Cheers..... TIGGR2 aka David
