6) Slim the whole advert down, if folk are initially interested they will ask about the detail

Bob, I thought you'd appreciate this ad for one of the cars I'm looking to replace my bike with.
I know you said MY original ad was effectively a bit wordy but this is something else..... :z

I would weather the storm and keep the bike.

I put mine up for sale a little over a week ago, it's similar one to yours a 34k black 2001 and in the same excellent condition.  I sold it (provisionally) easily enough but wondered what else I could buy to replace it?  When I looked at what little cash I was actually selling for it bought out there I realised that I was better off keeping it.

That was the purely monetary consideration over, with. I then began to wonder what other bike does everything so well and in such comfort? And where would I find one for £2k? I'd end up buying another Fazer 1000!   :lol

I know for you needs must, but if it's at all possible find another way of raising the cash/getting by for the time being because unless the price is very attractive people just won't bite, and if you lower it until they do you'll just feel like you gave it away.

I saw this fazer advertised at a dealer...04 reg with similar miles....£2795. Yup the market aint great is it ...if a dealer is offering them at this price ?No doubt he would take less for cash etc...hence why I say an older bike may not seem great value private sale at just £395 less without any warranty... I didnt have to look long to find this either...

Well after 2 weeks of nothing, 880(!!!) :eek  page views, and 32 watchers, it sold tonight for £2000. Nice bloke (aren't they all when they buy :lol ) came up all the way from Basingstoke to Crewe and rode off my drive around quarter to midnight!
AND just after his first call, another guy who's parents live just yards away, was up for £2000 as well.
Seems the ad was alright after all. There's ALWAYS someone out there but there's a shed load of pi55 taking chancers at the moment.
Now for the cage hunt... :'(

ALL comments were gratefully received  :D

I've noticed time and again that the amount of watchers on an item bears no correlation to the amount of potential buyers. Most are just rubber neckers looking to see what it sells for. Human nature I'm afraid.

Glad you sold it in the end anyway.

Anyone else notice on the 13th picture down all the paint has come off the bottom of the frame.. I would be worried how good the paint is on the rest of the bike.
Lord,
Grant me the WD-40 to move those things that are stuck, the Duck tape to fasten those things that are loose, And the wisdom to know the difference.

Several things struck me about this ad: There is definite " overkill" in use of words & pictures. The two bodywork blemishes are probably the least to worry about-I was more concerned with the corrosion issues on the frame adjacent to centre stand and on items such as rear calliper slider pins, exup cover screws/bolts,rear brake master cylinder adjuster rod-in fact on most steel components to some degree or other. Looks like a classic case of wash it and store it. If it was my bike I would sort these issues before selling-it all helps to instil confidence & trust in potential buyers. I am a great believer in preventive maintenance & a little time with ACF50 and coppergrease would have avoided all of these issues EXCEPT on brake discs of course!. As it stands there is quite a bit of stripping & treatment required to turn this bike into a "minter. If I was looking to buy this bike Id be asking for substantial reduction from asking price & would strip off all bodywork & treat every fastener & electrical connector & examine frame for any further corrosion and rectify. Nothing wrong with winter riding but so important to clean & treat properly-all these issues avoidable-if id paid nigh on 10 grand for a bike from new id want to keep it looking right. Beauty is more than skin deep! :eek

Call me stupid but I desperately wanted an FZS and looked everywhere for a decent one around £2,000. Eventually, on the internet, found a 2002 FZS with only 12K on the clock, 2 previous owners, fitted with double bubble screen, fender extender, brand new SP carbon fibre handmade exhaust, Fazer colour matched belly pan, hugger and K&N air filter. With new tyres, pads and chain it looked like it had just come out of it's crate and certainly never used in bad weather. Paid £2,500 for it plus £100 to have it delivered from Darlington to North London and I consider it to be an absolute bargain. If I had seen yours I would have snapped it up despite the mileage! Better value than anything else I saw in a months looking. Glad I found my dream bike eventually though! Glad to see you've sold yours ow though, hope you got the price you wanted.

Now heres an advert !
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-FZ1S-Fazer-2008-57-11K-FSH-1-Start-UK-Delivery-99-VAT-/180958437915?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item2a21f6a21b

but i want a blue one!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just bought a blue one, but the dealer at Crowthorne had had it for over 6 months and advertised on E Bay (where I saw it) and other places without success.
Others about the same I looked at on E Bay are still for sale, I think it is just the economic climate and time of year :(
