190/55 rear tyre
« on: 29 April 2017, 03:36:38 pm »
Just a head up to anyone buying tyres,

I was recently advised to buy a 55 tyre instead of a 50.
Had the tyres changed this morning and I personally think it's the best thing I've changed on the bike so far.
Turn in is better, mid cornering feel improved, slightly higher back end which I prefer.
I run on s20 evo tyres.
The only slight downside would be that it takes a tiny bit more clutch on take off but no big deal.

All personal experience but maybe someone else will enjoy the change

I put one on my fz1 and love it.  The larger tyre does act to raise the gearing slightly, same as reducing rear sprocket by approx 1 tooth.  You may not notice, but if you do then just add a larger sprocket to the rear with an extra tooth.

It does help turn in and will give more contact patch when leant over.

I'm due a new rear tyre so reckon I'm gonna give this a go.
Another thing to note is that it will put your speedo out marginally too
