Am I on to something here??
« on: 25 August 2013, 11:22:13 am »
Watching the GP on telly this morning and I was intrigued by the new fad of sticking out one leg in the bends.
Presumably to act as an air brake?

Well, why not build into the fairing some spoilers/air brakes linked to the front brake lever?

They could be a kind of forward opening flap all down the trailing edge of the fairing which hopefully would trap air and have the added advantage of extra engine cooling?

Anyhoo, if its not against the rules, you saw it here first so no nicking my brilliant design and claiming it for your own. :evil

I used to not give a foc, then I discovered Red Bull and now I don't give a flying foc !!!

Its to do with weight transfer as well, ie keeping the weight over the rear wheel whist under heavy breaking.
Its not new, Ron Haslem was doing it in the 70's.

It would actually make sense to have air-brakes that pop out at the rear of the bike to spread the load under heavy braking..just not sure if the extra weight would be too much of a trade off - I'm sure they've thought about it at some point - these guys are pretty clever.

Both side would have to be both dead even so as to not upset the bike just before throwing it into a bend... would perhaps work in a straight line, but not sure it'd be too good mid corner!

Sounds good!

Now, to make Nick Crisp's day - anyone think the GP bikes would profit from trailers?  :rollin :rollin
