NOT SELLING!!Basterd long post.
« on: 04 March 2012, 07:21:52 pm »
twice I tried to sell my ER6F  but no bugger is buying.
its an 09 face lift model it has only 3,000 miles on the clock.
I paid  £5,075 plus another couple of hundreds quid on it in accessories.
put it up for £3,200 but no takers.kinell the bike is like new! :\
I just cannot ride it far before numb bumness appears.
last time out I did 212 miles by the time I got home I could have cried with the pain :'( :lol .
as you can imagine it has put me off biking and almost gave up biking.
I traded my 03 yam fazer 600 for it, I now wish I hadn't but its gone now ,no good dwelling on it.if I can sell my ER I'd get another Fazer.
one of the reason that I sold the fazer it was a little high.
I was worried in case I'd drop it with my wife on the back.
on some roads no problem but if it has a deep camber ..it was a case of tip toeing trying to revers in or out whilst parking.
I'm not a short ass either just over 5'11"
on the move no problem.
sat on the ER6 perfect so I thought light/low.
hindsight is a wonderful thing but it no good if ya bike gone!
I never thought that I could of lowered it a bit.
I could trade it in for a Fazer1,000 again that is higher still.
I took the thou/600 for a test ride and I liked the 600 it felt lower etc so I bought the 600(new in 03).
I'm buggered if I'm going to sell the ER6 at a knock down price.
I had the seat redone 2 year ago and I don't think the guy has done it right.
don't get me wrong it looks beautiful but...
the seat is trying to push me towards the tank and at times it feel like friction burn.
and I think the foam that he has used is no correct.
a couple of bikers friends have said so to inc a dealer.
where I sit on its round'sh thats wrong to I believe.
the handle bars to is trying to push my hand's out, that doesn't feel comfortable at all.
soon get used to it.
but at my age 60 bike has to suit me not the other way round.
my two lads say sell the bike and get another Fazer.
wife would like me to keep the ER6 and me to as this is my last new bike I'll ever own.
and I like it to but its no good if I can ride it far.
so me think is try once more get the seat re-done(by Tony archer ,I've heard he's very good) and lower bars and if it doesn't work out sell it next year.
so am I wasting my time you recon??
my old Fazer.......

my current bike...........

get a gel insert put into the seat or there are pads that you can fix on top of the seat.

Go for the seat change, a lot cheaper than what you will lose on your bike.

Pity it wasn't an ER6-N as my girlfriend likes them and she has a mint, blue foxeye with 11,000 mls  :(
Better to stand and look a fool than speak and prove it !
If it aint broke, I'll fix it till it is !!

I had an ER6-F a couple of years ago, lovely bike.
The handlebars do indeed push your hands into a strange angle but I found that if you turn the bars down towards the rider as far as the lock to tank allows they suddenly become a lot more comfy, in fact I have even put ER6 bars on my Fazer thou and I never get aches in my hands.
I never really found the seat that uncomfy, I rode my ER6 to Lagos Portugal and managed 640 miles in one day without too many aches. However,  the standard shock was desperately oversprung and underdamped which is a recipe for a sore butt so I had fitted a Bitubo shock with a lower rated spring and it much improved the ride. I put Ohlins springs in the front because again the standard ones wern't up to it.
Second hand values on the ER6 are pretty poor for some reason, I paid £3950 for mine new in 2007 and sold it with 24,000 miles up for just £2,400 in 2009.
All in all it's a great bike albeit with a few tweaks needed to bring it up to scratch. I was saddened to see mine go, but it being a Kawasaki and being used all year round it had started to rot and the swingarm corroded so badly it had to be replaced, so I felt it was time to move on.

Why ot just see what you could get PX on a Fazer ?
Dont ask it's a chef thing
After 15 years EX-Fazer owner XJR. XJR gone FJR, FJR gone NEW FJR that's gone, now Triumph Tiger Explorer  an CB400n Superdream sold BMW 650 Funduro sold Now a R1200GA Adventure Rallye next ? OK so where next turns out to be V-Strom 1050 NEXT?

I am surprised that you cannot sell the ER6.  These are generally very well liked machines and get favorable reports in the press.  Are you advertising in the right places?  I am sure that you will be able to adapt the bike so that it is comfortable - a pal of mine has one, I have ridden it and really like it.  Try to get some advice from other owners on the web.

Consider trying some renthal bars. I know the standard Fazer 1000 bars put my wrists at a funny angle and the renthals are so much comfier.
Blessed are the cracked, for they let in the light.

thanks for your encouraging replies guys.

the original wasn't as bad as the revamp one if I remember rightly but still give a sore butt in the long run.
I'll get the seat redone to my liking ,rang Tony archer up.
he seems a nice chap and helpful.
and I'll put some flat'sh bar's on to.
what might be the problem I think is that..
too upright so all my body weight is on my ass.
I too have a thundercat and I rode that 21 miles to a friend to get it serviced while we're away on hols. felt ok, good.
had to go to him again to leave some cash to pay for service's .
had to go on the ER6F (wife had gone to work in the car)and I knew when I got there how uncomfortable it is.
if all work out ok good.
I'll stay on here if thats ok with you guys.
and maybe next year I'll sell the cat and get a Fazer for winter rides out.
