What do you folk do when fitting Renthal bars
Do you grind off the locating lugs on throttle and switch gear or drill new holes in new bars?
I'm guessing remove but just want to know whats recommended

Hi all
Searched google with no luck.
How much free play should there be in gear lever.
Mine moves up about an inch of freeplay before I can then move up more to select gear. It makes it hard to adjust for boot as I ride with toes on the pegs then slide foot forward to up shift. I need the gap to slide boot in but then there is a lot of movement to select gear. If I reduce gap its hard to get boot to slide in nicely and I still have the same amount of free play.
Has the spring gone weak? does it hold lever in up position?
I have seen the R1 mod but is mine normal at moment ?

Decided not to take the bike off the road for a week + so sprayed them with Simoniz black enamel engine paint. Will powder coat in winter when off the road.
Used the card trick for the tyres Remove sprocket Remove discs Degrease wheels Mask off bearings Sand down with wet "n" dry Degrease again Mask areas not to be painted Several coats of Simoniz
If you bend the cards down you can flip the wheel over without damaging fresh paint, the tyre will keep the rim off the ground. This way you can spray both sides without a dry line. Spray the wheel and remove the cards before paint dry's or the cards may stick and tear.
Have to say the simoniz gave a powder coat finish and was much better than expected. Very impressed but will not last like powder coat or be as durable, but for a nice summer look without the loss of use it was worth less than £20
Paint £7 Amason Wet n Dry £2 pound shop Thinners £5 motorist centre Masking tape £1 pound shop 4 packs cards £2 pound shop
The cleaning and prep always takes longer than the spraying

I'm thinking of upgrading my rear shock to the R6
What sort of mileage would you expect to get out of a shock.
I'm looking at second hand and can get a 2015 shock with less than 3000 Km
I know less is best but ££££ rule

Hi
Fitted a new aftermarket clutch cable less than 30miles ago. Went out today and lost clutch totally, lever pulls back to bars with max adjustment on lever and cable. Was a bitch to get home lucky only had 3 miles, stalled every stop The clutch marks line up (arrow and dot on arm) and you can push lever as much as possible and it will spring back, so looks ok Cable hasn't snapped just seems to have stretched???

Need help with front suspension
I know there is a lot of info on this (Googled) but I want to make sure.
My front end has had upgraded harder springs but I don't know what? last owner just knew he had a rebuild with harder springs Receipt is from Brook Racing but they don't keep records more than 3 yrs and this was Jan 2010.
Front end feels fine doesn't dive under braking but is hard when hitting bums and if you hit a bump when cornering feels like its going to skip bangs up through my arms. The last owner was probably 3 stone heavier than me. From what I have read the compression needs to be softer to stop skip and chatter. 7 clicks out from fully in on screw in bottom of forks is standard I weigh about 15 stone with leather etc

My ignition lock was a little bit awkward to operate, so a little bit of wd40 I thought would do the trick. Now it's even harder and I have to wriggle the key to get it to turn.
Do I just get a new key cut?

I new on hear and I'm looking to buy an fzs1000 2000/2002
Most of the bikes of that age suffer from the paint termites eating into the engine and cases
Is it possible to get the Yamaha silver to re paint the parts? what code please.
Also what should I be looking for apart from obvious, what sounds etc
