For Sale & Wanted / WANTED: REAR CALIPER AND HOSE GEN 1 FZS1000
« on: 22 September 2014, 06:20:44 pm »
As the heading says i need a rear caliper for my gen1 FZS1000 cash waiting paypal if required am in west cumbria.

I made a grave error recently when i had a new rear tyre fitted, i took of the wheel and took it to my local dealer to have my new rear tyre fitted  (angel GT) when i put it back on i forgot to tighten my rear caliper bolts and after a day or two they worked loose and fell out sending the caliper bouncing about, with luck i stopped before it caused too much damage so with a file and some black paint it was back on with some new pads and a quick service, but i think its f#@ked I've bled it and left the pedal under pressure all night with the cap off (luggage strap to centre stand) this only lasted one trip to work and now its back to spongy. i cant see any leaks and the fluid isnt going down so im going for a whole new caliper and hose, vant find one on evilbay only R1 calipers that look exactly the same so do they fit and if so which one do i buy or do any of you lot have one I could buy???????

« on: 05 January 2014, 03:24:11 pm »
I would like to firstly wish you all a happy new year and thank you all for your advice.
I took the offending valve out snapped a bolt in the chamber while I was at it.
so with a drill and a tap and some bending and patience its re assembled and operating correctly until it gets warm then the bloody thing starts to rattle like a stone in a can all the bushes are in the correct positions there's plenty of grease my cables are adjusted and oiled I have no warning codes.
can anyone tell me the correct way to re-assemble the washer spring arrangement on the cable carrier on the downpipe just in case I've done it wrong.

Many thanks for all your help.

Thanks chaps, after consulting my engineer grease monkey brother he asked me one question, did i take it apart while it was hot and the answer was yes and I dropped it as a result of the hotness, I thought the bolts would come out easier while the heat was still in them but got carried away and dismantled the whole shebang doh!
so I'm to heat it up and see if that corrects it ( something to do with metal memory??) and /or give it a little persuasion with a vice/hide mallet!
then as I was earlier advised leave the blooming thing alone until it stops working.

Exup valve working fine, removed it for routine maintenance put it all back together again with a little copperease and wallop the bloody thing wont move jammed solid so rinse and repeat same story the valve seems to work fine right up until I tighten the bolts it'll turn then stick as if its bent or off centre somehow.
I've checked all the positions of the bushes, I laid them in order as I removed them cleaned them all with a little emery cloth and some brake cleaner, then a dousing with the old WD40, another wipe then a little copperease and back in, cant see what I've done wrong?????? :'( :wall

stupid design. What's wrong with a single flap in the link pipe??
has anyone thought of butchering an FZ1 link pipe and fusing it onto a 4-1 after market job??

my old girl is starting to look a little tired at the front of the engine, I am planning to re paint the front of the engine (while i have the exhaust off for exup surgery) for protection more than looks as you cant see that area too well.
where will I get the correct paint colour and type??
is there a car paint equivalent??

I have the nitron track shock on mine and with refurbed front end dropped through 15mm it pushes the pirelli angels right to the edge makes all the difference, made me hang on to her rather than change for the gen 2.
more power next.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / gen 1 front forks for sale
« on: 20 August 2013, 11:37:56 am »
Hi.
I had the pesky leaking right leg problem.
So I bought a refurbished front end.
This has left me with my a set of forks with one having a scored stanchion that leaks.
im guessing it was caused by a worn bush.
The left fork is in perfect working order with no marks or pitting anywhere.
They come with a genuine set of new oil seals.
All the adjusters work fine.
£90. Plus £15 post or collect from workington Cumbria.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Exup or not to exup, that is the question.
« on: 26 April 2013, 08:01:24 pm »
Fxxxing thing,

I've serviced it, took it out and put it back in (oo err misses ;) )
now I'm considering junking the whole shebang.
I know the purists will frown in tuning fork disappointment but I've been told by a life long R1 fan that it don't make that much difference.
the bikes a 2001 gen 1 with 15000 miles under its wheels.

Fellow Fazer heads,

Been looking at your forum for a few years now and taking it's advice on mods and repairs, I'm on my third Fazer now and have progressed from a FZS 600, FZ6 S2 and a disastrous bandit saga before finally ending up with the bike i should have bought in the first place, the gen 1 1000.( not that there's anything wrong with the 6's I'm 20 stone and and need the grunt).

Dave.
