General / 3 month beard grown, what tash for spring meet?
« on: 27 May 2012, 08:24:32 pm »
As title really.  I have been growing a beard for 3 months, so i'd like a consensus for what 'tash to sport for the weekend.

Nothing will be discounted.  Fire away.

Reminds me, actually. I've got a mate in Manchester I've not seen for a bit. Would anyone mind if I asked him if he's free for one of the rides? He's a fat lad who rides a Triumph cruiser, but he's just had a baby and suspect he needs to get out...

The more the merrier.  The saturday ride heads to Hawes, Shap, Hartside, Richmond, and back.  A long one with plenty of stop offs.  Usually a couple of groups, depending on whether you want spirited or more relaxed pace.  Sunday is a free for all, so I would get your mate along on the Saturday.

Hi Stu,

Did you get my email?

Due to lack of cash..and bike! I cannot make it this year. I trust there is someone to take my place?

I hope to see you on another spring meet, even if it's on a push bike!

I know you'll all have a great time.

Dude, I'll miss the 3AM ipod mixes this year.  Hope to see you soon.

It's funny how ghosts are only seen when it is dark.  When our eyes and brain are at their least efficent at processing info.

I'm a non believer.  Never seen anything that could not be easily explained.  This is not to say that I would be happy walking round a derilict castle at night, but that is more fear of falling over ora stupid pigeon getting ruffled and flying at me.

Great show. I'm planning a cafe racer in the near future, so it is good inspiration

General / Re: Quick straw poll - the welfare £26K cap - good or bad?
« on: 07 February 2012, 10:51:26 pm »
Benefits should be there as they were designed, as a last safety net to prevent people starving. The problem now is that people can be classed as in poverty if they don't have sky TV.  I agree they should be capped, but I would have it far lower than £26k.

I use tomtom iphone app.  Mouth phone in waterproof case on bars and hook up to 12V under seat, or you could go straight to battery.  This is a cheap option only if you already have an iphone

One interesting point though - how did Hastings know (a) that the bike had been involved in and RTA and (b) where to collect it from?  Someone has obviously informed them.

From the description of the RTA the rider hit an oncoming van so there would likely be a 3rd party claim placed by the driver of the van against the rider for any damage caused to his van.

A couple of weeks ago, driving home, approaching a blind bend.  Cyclist coming towards me emerges around the bend along with the car that has chosen the blind bend to overtake the cyclist.  I was travelling about 45.  I had to stand the car on its nose to come to a complete stop to avoid hitting the car head on!  Thanks you for sticky tyres and ABS

I think being hit in the back of the head with a 150kg bike traveling at 100mph would kill you straight off, helmet or not.  The fact that it came off just shows the forces involved.  If his lid stayed on he would still be dead anyway.  Look at Craig Jones, his crash was similar and his lid stayed on, but same outcome.

I just feel really gutted.  He was the reason to watch motoGP.

a snif of clutch to compensate for the added weight over the bars would have seen that front wheel a bit higher.

My Dad was driven around Crosby, sat on the tank of my great uncle's bike.  That was in the 50s, and I don't think wheelies were involved!  The guy was a bit stupid.
