Hello from South Africa
« on: 10 May 2013, 04:27:01 pm »
Hi all

John from Durban South Africa. I have always owned and restored Honda CB's (CB750/900/1100F) bikes '79 to '83. Anyway got myself a 2005 Fazer 1000 and I LOVE IT!!!! Liked it so much, I saw a good deal on a 1997 FZ400 so bought one for the wife and she loves it - now there is a "mini me". This is a great resource for these bikes. Thanks a million.

Hey,

Welcome to the forum,

Chris

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

Hehehe - it is blue  :D  and I will post up some pic's on the weekend. I cannot believe that in a month I have converted from a DIE HARD Honda fan to Yamaha. You say a rocket compared to my Honda 11F? Hell yeah  :D .

The only thing I need to do on the 400 is put an original front MC on. The PO fitted a 1999 Honda Fireblade MC and the resevoir is in the way of the rev  counter and fuel gauge. Having said that, the Brembo's are VERY sharp. I managed to source an MC here in SA pretty cheap (around 100ZAR (about 7 quid)), so I am pretty stoked. Pic's to follow... South Africa UK? WTF?

Hey there. The 400 goes very well, However one thing I have learned is you need the rev's with these smaller bikes. Other than that it goes well, good enough for the wife at least.

I took the stock exhaust off... too quiet... and braised up a new pipe from an old Cowley can I had. It is a straight through pipe and it is loud and proud.
