Newbie from Scotland...with photos
« on: 11 June 2014, 08:50:06 pm »
Hi folks, I'm Callum from Bathgate in Scotland. Passed my test last year and bought myself a 07 plate FZ6 with only 2k on the clock.

Me and my mate from work decided to plan a road trip around Scotland...I just arrived back a couple of hours ago and wanted to share some photos of what was an amazing 5 days of riding. To give a quick breakdown, on day 1 we did Dunfirmline to Aviemore via Glenshee and the Cairngorms - 180 miles, day 2 we did Aviemore to Dunnet Head - 200 miles, day 3 we did Dunnet Head to Skye - 320 miles, day 4 we did Skye to Glencoe - 150 miles and day 5 we did Glencoe to Bathgate via Lochgilphead, Arrochar and Loch Lomond. Pretty much went up the East coast and back down the West coast.

Hope you enjoy the photos  :)

HaHa, to be fair the Triumph did well on the country roads, I just don't trust that skinny back tyre!

Cheers, yeah we got decent weather for 4 out of the 5 days. Our longest ride, which was from Dunnet Head, through Thurso and on to Skye took 9 hours, 7 of which it was chucking it down with rain, hail and a bit of snow. It was mental!!

I would highly recommend the ride up the east coast to John O'Groats, on to Dunnet Head then Thurso and Ullapool. They were some of the best roads in the country for bikes and it showed, the amount of bikers on tour was unreal.

It's depressing being back in the central belt, the roads are rubbish and the traffic is brutal! :'(

Hey,

Welcome to the forum. Looks like an awesome trip!

Chris

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

Welcome & great pics. Looking at the J o G signpost one made me realise its the same distance from there to Edinburgh as it is from my home in Midlands to my sisters at bottom end of Cornwall. Scenery is amazing in your photos but I m glad we dont have your winters!
