For Sale & Wanted / Wanted - FZS600 either Gen 1 or 2
« on: 11 July 2020, 04:33:37 pm »
Been bikeless for a few months and feel the need for a cheap runaround and fancy a Fazer 600.

Had a couple of Gen 1 thou's that Mike Ivanised and loved them both before going down the adventure bike route.

Now I find them all a bit OTT in both height and weight and have too much fancy electrics. I'd really like something more basic!

Budget is £2000. Not so concerned with mileage but would need to be in decent condition.

I don't have time unfortunately to be driving all over the country looking at them so would prefer something in the South West as I'm in Torquay.

Really not in a rush but if one comes up I can act quickly as Boris was kind enough to donate some funds.....

Didn't have one on my KTM 1190 Adventure but did on my 790 Adventure and can say it was fantastic. Definitely an improvement with a pillion as there's no rocking when you have to roll the throttle with no QS - just keep the throttle wide open and change up, smooth as silk.
What it doesn't like is changing up on part throttle, as it does clunk into gear. Best to only use it changing up from 2nd and above. 1st to 2nd is clunky anyway.
If you're on part throttle just change as normal.

But going up motorway slip roads at full throttle through the gears is addictive.....

May be interested.

I've had 2 and really rated them, I have a KTM 1190Adventure at the moment and trying to decide between a new 1290 or get a 790Duke and a Fazer for pillion duties.

Will know during the week.....

Blimey - are there actually any bikes out there that haven't been modded? :rolleyes :rolleyes

Personally I wouldn't buy one that hadn't been Ivanised, seeing as Obi Wan Falcon has hung up his Dremel. Just wondering what the ratio of modded/unmodded bikes is....

Thanks everyone for very kind words and good wishes.

Andy, great to see you back here ... but Queenie-gram?  Cheeky sod ...  :rollin

When we moved to Spain in 2004, I thought that would be the end of it but it turns out it was only just the beginning ... ;)

Sorry - couldn't resist it ;)

You still in Spain? I've been back in the UK 10 years now and if I had room in the garage I'd have another Gen 1 to keep the KTM company - but I'd make sure it had already had your handiwork over it. Enjoy the motorhome - even better with a small trail bike strapped to the back for those itches that need to be scratched  :D

Blimey,  Mike, you must be on the verge of getting your telegram from Queenie and you've only just stopped working   :eek

I haven't been on here for many years but a mate has just bought one and I recommended the website as a good source of info so thought I'd better check in and your post was the first thing I saw

Best wishes in your retirement wherever you go and a big thanks for doing both of my Fazer. I still have fond memories of the bikes even though I've defected to some Austrian brawn nowadays.

Cheers, Andy
