And you Paul, it’s gone to a good home

Shop around, get quotes, like for like policies, go back to CN and tell them you've got it cheaper tell them who, how much. Either they beat, get very close or you insure elsewhere.
I've been doing the above for years, I've never paid their renewal quote ever. this year CN wanted to increase mine by £70 and switch me to another insurer wit £300 more excess. Got it back to last year price and only £50 more excess, I've been with CN for well over 20yrs.
Many yearly cover suppliers, RAC, AA, Phones etc love people who just renew, why because they can screw you! Also look out for the auto renew schemes, yes they stop you having to worry, but they renew (ie they take the money) about 5 days (can be more) before the actual renewal date. If you don't do the above before the auto pay date, you'll have reduced your bargaining power e.g. you may get a refund, but perhaps not a reversal in say increase in excess. Why because you've already bought the policy. You could cancel which may or may not have a fee and then re-quote for a new policy, if the fee is a fair bit less than the difference between a new policy, probably worth it cancelling.
That said some don't, my car insurer always is either cheaper than last year or the same, mostly it's been cheaper.
From what you're describing, the fork lowers may have worn to an unacceptable level - there is apparently an inherent fault with the Gen 1 forks, with the lower fork cartridge / fork lower wearing against the fork springs and the fork oil then turning to abrasive sludge. There's a great thread about it here on the FZ1OA site (hopefully you can view it without having to create an account):

This problem is exacerbated by not changing the fork oil regularly and the wear becomes so bad that you can apparently feel knocking sensations coming through the forks, almost like the head bearings have gone?
If this is the problem you may well have to replace the front forks, whether they be another pair of standard units (risk of replacement forks having the same problem), R6 5SL right-way-up forks as I fitted to mine back around 2011 or early-ish R1 forks. The latter two options usually drop the front-end by over an inch, not necessarily a problem but something else to consider.
Storm 3D-XM. Met a guy whilst waiting for my MOT on a 1200 bandit that carries roughly the same combined weight I do when the wife's on board. After 2K of heavy use they looked fine. Have been very impressed with the older Storm ST's in the past. Getting them fitted Monday. So far they have been excellent both two up & a 1000 mile scratch following boy racers on race bikes. I did the same trip 10 years ago on some Avon Azaros that had about 3K on them & where destroyed when I got back. The 3D’s are so solid under braking, rain & the centre header section has no signs of squaring off. Top tire.

How are you guys getting with these, I ask because they are cheaper than any of the other big brands atm.
