have to say this is the most ridiculous obnoxious outburst I think I have ever heard on here.I think you should really take a step back and examine yourself for rationality.

I already have Pitt and confessed it was over the top. Thanks for that. I'll darken this forum no more.

Don't ask others to do what you would not do yourself then.  You are asking people to randomly assult church goers?

I can say what I damn well like, some I'm sure would say that's unfortunate but the same applies to yourself without a doubt.. Take such a suggestion seriously if you want to but I said it in the confidence that no foccer is going to actually go out and do that just because I said so.

What?

Yes, probably over the top. I actually wouldn't do that. Metaphorically speaking though they've been gobbing on unbelievers for centuries and in practise have done a lot worse than that of course.
I wish christians would boycott church services for a month or something to register dissaproval of the churches handling of the scandal. They just don't do anything in response or show contritian.

Hot from the presses in the Vatican. In reply to the proposed demotion of J. Saville from his papal knighthood.

"As there does not exist any permanent official list of persons who have received papal honours in the past, it is not possible to strike anyone off a list that does not exist.
"The names of recipients of papal honours do not appear in the Pontifical Year Book and the honour expires with the death of the individual.

Roughly translated:- ''We've decided to cop out from moral guidence and responsibility and we are shite at setting an example''.
We are lectured non-stop that christianity is the bedrock of social morality. Pray, where is the commandment that we protect our children?
If you pass a church tomorrow morning, spit on a christian for me.
Cheers.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: FORGIVING FAZER & TYRES THAT TALK
« on: 27 October 2012, 01:01:30 pm »

Not noticed the same after having a 023 fitted on the front, used to have an 021 on.

I've just completed my first week on Metzeler Z8s and I like them a lot. For once the advertising blurb is fairly accurate and yes they have much less bump steer and roll over white lines and mastic banding as if it isn't there, utterly perfect for filtering between lanes on the commute. Rain performance and especially 'damp' performance is outstanding, I found myself riding at 'dry' pace in the wet more than once before calming meself down a bit and going slower, but I'm not surprised these tyres were a massive 3 seconds quicker per lap than other ST tyres in the MCN test. The feel of these tyres is really really good, like you can feel every bit of gravel and undulation of the tarmac but they give a 'comfy' ride, nice and stable with neutral steering and what I'd call medium roll in to corners (about the same as PR2s, certainly not as rapier like as the Road Attack2 front). The blurb says the construction of the tyres is a new technology using different tensions in the belts to distribute heat, I don't know how that works but the tyres feel very different to any other I've used.
It's easy to favour and prefer a new tyre coming off a worn pair of some other make but on balance I do like the Z8s over my PR2s -for a winter tyre at least.
I'm doing 400 miles a week on these, I'll report back on wear rate at a later date.

General / Re: What's better, LoveFilm or Netflix
« on: 26 October 2012, 11:54:25 am »
I used to be a fan of Lovefilm and have had hundreds of DVDs off them in the past. Unfortunately in the last few months I was with them I had rather a lot of scratched/moisture damaged/duff discs from them. There's nothing worse than settling down to watch a film and havng the disc go all Norman Collier and/or refuse to play. So I cancelled my subscription to them.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Mixing oils???
« on: 25 October 2012, 03:06:51 pm »
It will be ok. Semi synth is a mixture of mineral oil and Synthetic oil anyway, so adding either is no problem (and the ratio of either doesn't really matter as long as the oil your adding is up to the spec in the bikes manual.

The BBC will eventually need to find a way of fixing that loophole, maybe by linking a TV licence number to an IP address, as more and more people move to watching TV over their broadband connection.

Yes I would think so. I know some people don't like paying the license fee but one thing everyone in broadcasting would agree on is that adverts and programme sponsorship is a far from ideal way of funding programmes in this country. Neither is a license fee of course, but it is the lesser of two evils -for the time being at least.
I for one despise advertising and rarely watch programmes interrupted by commercials, they are obtrusive and makes me wonder who owns the TV sitting in my living room, me or the advertisers?
And I notice that Utube is being ruined by damn adverts thesedays -far too many.

General / Re: Stickers on helmets,,,
« on: 23 October 2012, 07:20:00 pm »
I think it's still a no-no putting stickers on a plastic based helmet shell. I saw an Arai vid on Utube a while back that said as much, it's ok to bung them on fibreglass/carbon/composite helmets of course.
Like yourself, in the winter I am concerned about being visible. This week I started wearing my fetching lime green jerkin thing and I make sure to keep the rear reflector and lights clean of grime every time I venture out. I also ruin the stylishness of my excellent slate grey Arai Astro R by putting reflective stickers on it. The uncool stickers are swiftly removed as soon as spring sunshine makes an appearance.

This year I bought a sheet of these to stick on the helmet, bike and the plastic bit on the back of my boots.

Now is it only me, but the line about he wants back what he paid for it, I m thinking it looks as if its been kept outside and left to go rusty and he thinks the next buyer should pay him what he paid for it.

He's missing the point of an auction, where the idea is you sell for the amount of money peeps are willing to pay rather than it's 'perceived' value.
Avoid. The guys obviously an irksome clot.

I did play with scuba mask antifig before but that had limited success

I've tried that too -Sea Drops is the brand I used. Unfortunately I found that it gives off a solvent that made my eyes water, which doesn't help. I guess that's why you apply it then have to rinse your mask before diving. Anyway it doesn't really work well.
At the moment, the humudity is sky high accross much of the country with thick mist in the mornings and evenings -it's perfect weather for fogged visors/glasses and I fear there isn't really much we can do.

Phil TK I've just put PR2s on mine,....wouldn't you put them on yours again?

Yes, they were in fact my second pair. I think they are ideal for the bike but I do a lot of filtering between lanes on my commute which means running over raised white lines and overbanding. Despite excellent performance in other respects the PR2s arn't the most stable in that situation and after around 6/7000 mile mark you have to be a bit carefull with them. 'Not dangerous if you know what they are going to do though but unpleasant.
The bumpf for the Z8 blurbs on about less bump steer and more stability when worn, in fact for the launch journalist were given a set worn down to 2mm and they were still stable apparently. This attracted me to them
BTW I rather miss the Conti RoadAttack 2s, I had 2 pairs of those and the front tyre is quite exceptional and transforms the steering on the Gen 1. Unfortunately CR2s are too pricey for my present budget.

It's tyre change time for me. 8,000 odd miles on my PR2's but they are starting to fidget and jump about on overbanding, so that's their lot.
I see the Metzeler Z8s are getting good press and can be had for £215 delivered, has anyone tried them on a Gen 1 thou?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Linkage Bloody Bearings
« on: 13 October 2012, 03:18:43 pm »
I've just come back for my garage after another exasperating attempt to do something about the play in my linkage bearings. Like most other people here I'm ok about having a few millimeters of play when I lift up the rear wheel, but mine had got decidedly worse than that, so I bought a set of new needle races and seals and replaced the lot (and swing arm bearings) That was last week and to my annoyance after I 'd torqued everything up the play was no different at all (i tried torqueing up with machine on centrestand and on sidestand too)
Just now I fitted another linkage complete with bearings that I got off ebay for £30 (from a machine that was 'low mileage') and it's got slightly less play in it but still not really acceptable. I think my understanding mot chappie is not going to be so lenient on me when he checks the bearing play next time.
I'm wondering now if anyone has any thoughts about having a batch of new sleeves made up as it seems the sleeves are the cause of this problem. I think someone even mentioned once that the standard sleeves are not tight enough in the races to start with so having 'proper' ones made might be a very good idea. If you look at the linkage when you move the wheel up and down you'll see that the long sleeve pivot at the bottom is the one that shows wear and I'm not surprised as it has to endure a heavy load whilst the other bearings just rotate. If costs for a new set of sleeves were a little high then perhaps having just the long sleeve made would be useful.
As the Gen 1s get older many more of us are going to run into this problem with sleeves wearing out. If you've never checked the play in yours you might be a little surprised when you do. Keep an eye on it.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Advice please re front brake issue on Gen 1
« on: 13 October 2012, 02:47:30 pm »
Patience and all the various tricks he mentioned will work in the end.

And not forgetting your own advice of cracking the bolt on the top banjo to bleed air out of the junction. Worked brilliantly for me when I first learnt the method and now I always do it when changing fluid/brake overhaul.

I think we should all be concentrating with stuff we can do something about today , I think the whole issue is self defeating as just what more can be said and done??

I learned yesterday that one of my relatives ex-girlfiends complained about being groped by Savile at a charity event decades ago and no-one beleived her, she got in a hell of a state at the time apparently. At least now at last others have come forward she can expect a more sympathetic ear (and some apologies) when she gets a chance to talk about what was one of the nastiest events of her young life.

Until the 60's homosexuality was illegal too wasn't it? I just thought that perhaps BBC people didn't like to talk about such things, or perhaps even blocked out the rumours just as they might have done about gays. I wasn't there so can't know, but those that were there do and are saying nowt.

Read your own paragraph carefully. You've just turned a groundless speculation into a conspiracy theory.

'those that were there do and are saying nowt'

Or perhaps it wasn't the case at all. Hence they are saying nowt

lol hhmm License - l like that word.  To own a tv is a privilege dont think it has anything todo with competency tho (well you need to work the remote  :lol ).

A license is a certificate of granted permission, not a verification of competancy to do something.

General / Re: What would you do if you lost your license?
« on: 10 October 2012, 01:23:02 pm »

Ok I'm done. Next time you watch the news just maybe you'll be able to join the dots a little better, or maybe you won't.

I seem to remember David Icke saying something similar. The problem with this sort of paranoid conspiracy theory stuff is that none of it is really based on hard evidence, just a bonkers interpretation of events.
Also, people with power and shady political ambitions don't have a monopoly on brilliant ideas/inventions y'know. Some of us normal folk outside the military etc do come up with great inventions and technology all the time and we don't usually get kidnapped by MI5 before we can tell the rest of the world.
I used to be a patent 'bonded' draughtsman years ago, I've drawn one or two curious things over the years, some with a military bent - and I'm still here.

My moneys on the sidestand not retracting fully because of crud and/or the sidestand cut out switch getting sticky. Give the switch and the sidestand pivot a good clean and a spray with wd40. A two minute job that could well fix it.
Mine did the same last winter
