Isle of man Classic, Things to see?
« on: 20 August 2015, 12:02:28 am »
Hi all,

Going to IOM over the bank holiday weekend for the classic TT. Going in the car as taking the Mrs and my Father-in-law who is 70 (His birthday present if you are wondering) so no Fazer action :(

But anyway, as an IOM virgin are there any sights I must take in on my few days there?
I intend to do the obvious things like Creg ny Baa, Bray hill, Kates cottage, Joey Dunlop statue etc. but any other nuggets I must put on the list?
Please keep in mind the Mrs old man is 70.. so walking miles is off the cards.

Thanks,
Fuzz
Lord,
Grant me the WD-40 to move those things that are stuck, the Duck tape to fasten those things that are loose, And the wisdom to know the difference.
Amen

If you get a chance pop into Bride for a TT afternoon tea.
The new transport museum in Jurby is expensive but the Bus museum across the road if free and worth a visit and  while your in Jurby don't forget Jurby Junk!
I can recommend the narrow gauge steam railway from Douglas to Port St. Mary.
Peel has a good museum, pubs, a castle and the last Manx kipper smokery.
Enjoy yourself.

Awesome. cheers guys. I shall plot some of these into the satnav.
We will probably do most of our sightseeing on Sunday because there is no racing on that day.

The cafe at the calf of man ( the most southerly point ) is a must, awesome view and watch the seals swimming.
For you though do a circuit of the course, only problem is you'll wish you were on your bike.

Right, cheers all. entered most of these in the Satnav. My plan (if possible) is to try and watch the racing from a few locations round the course. So I will then try to drop in to some of these places when nearby.
Racing is on for 3 of the 4 days we are there so I doubt very much we will get to do everything..

Another bonus is the Rutland hotel has overbooked so we have been upgraded to the Claremont hotel in Douglas at no extra charge  :D
