driving them to PeterboroughEek, driving to Peterborough via the A14/A1? That means you passed within 50yds of my house. Good job my missus wasn't out in her car. Her and Christo on the same stretch of road would have been a 99.8% certainty of a collision!

Took the cage in to get it's little problem looked at. Often no speedo, now coupled with cutting out at low speed, usually when just turning in to a junction. Starts again immediately, but lose the power steering when it does it - this has made for one or two "interesting" moments! Now have to be ready to catch it, ignition off and quickly restart; loads of fun! Diagnostics show that it's missing speedo and odo info, sounds like it's all connected. Can we just go back to carbs and cables please?!!
Booked in for proper investigation next Weds, hope it doesn't get too pricey, as it'll eat into July's Euro tour money :'(
Fitted beefy new shocks to the wife's trike project:
And about a dozen other jobs:

I presume the tooth from your mouth? Sounds painful!
My landlord's Mondeo has shagged injectors, and wants to know if you fitted a new 'un, or a reconditioned one from Ebay.Recon, my car is worth £1k tops ('04 Zetec, 156k miles). This (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221299195052?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649) is what I bought. Make sure you get the right type (502z in my case) and make sure it has the code on the label. I'm not sure if it should have a new code since it's a recon but it works well enough with the one that's stuck on it so I'm not complaining. You'll need an F-super cable to code it too but that only works on mid-2003 onwards cars. Changing the injector and doing the coding took about 15 minutes.
is there Bike rally in eltham? I presume on saturday
You bastard, Deefer! :lol

which involved reversing onto a pile of wood in a vague check design to get the back end up in the air, then crawling underneath and attacking it with a 13mm spanner!!
Natural selection will have it's way...
Hydraulic jacking: 10 mins of faffing about. Reversing onto the chocks, 20 secs. Job jobbed.
As Christo got fed up with the Kwak's and the Peugeot's and wondered what we got up to with our other toys....... Well, here it is.
Nice weather, blue skies and a bit of a bimble in my no 1 toy - my Schweizer S300 CBi - it's an awesome way to get around and see the country, and the main reason why my bike riding has suffered (but I do love it and spent a lot of time getting my pilots licence - a lifelong dream..
I keep the Schweizer at Leicester, how far is Conignton (if you don't mean Connington) from Leics? Could be worth a trip in with Liz one day this summer.
OK, will do - and I'd be perfectly happy to take you up for a bit of a bimble when I'm there - if you'd trust me.
You don't mean Peterborough Connington do you - EGSF, if so, I've been in there a couple of times - just outside Stilton, East of A1(M).
Bergwerk corner at the "Ring", a couple of years back, with my youngest - we did almost 100 laps over the Easter 3-day weekend - lots of track miles !

Fiddled with the FJ 1200 - got a Thundercat 17" back wheel which after measuring seems as though it'll be a simple fit. Wheel spindle is the same diameter (although the 'Cat one is hollow), just 8mm to take off the spacer on the chain side and 8mm skim off the caliper carrier on the other side. Sprocket is the same offset from the wheel centre-line as the FJ and the FJ sprocket even fits straight onto the 'Cat carrier. Rear FJ caliper also fits directly onto the 'Cat carrier and the torque arm mountings are the same. Woo hoo!

I think you'll find the T-cat back wheel is the same as the Fazer 600 back wheel.
I think. ;)

Don't think so mate, thought the T-cat ran a 180, not the 160?
Checked the MOT on the car as I knew it was due this month... It expired in mid March :|
Apparently I got rather confused - March is sort of like May... they both start ma-
Managed to book it in today so now sat in a reception waiting on the verdict...

There's a very slight difference in the numbers cast into the wheel from the 'Cat and the wheel on my son's '03 Fazer. I've checked out the brake elements as well and they're all different - but I haven't taken the Fazer wheel out to check the wheel unit itself.
As luck would have it, I can't lay my hands on the spacer for the brake-side (the one that sits between the bearing and the caliper carrier) - so I think I"'ll have to trawl for one - as the caliper mounts are different, I can't use a Fazer spacer.
Sat in the POFS Peugeot at the side of the road, cursing, waiting for the feckin' RAC!!!
The bloody exhaust decided to shear off, so now I need a new middle section. Argh!! :wall :wall
Fuck what my parents say, the minute it's done, the Fazer's getting insured and the Pug's going up for sale! Never had any problems like this on my old Fazer!

Didn't got for a run.
Fixed the exhaust on the Peugeot. Long live scrappies, I picked up a middle silence in reasonable nick for about half the price of ebay. :woot . Now to hope the bugger stays on!! :lol :lol
In other news - ARGH! Anyone know a good way of cleaning bits of old exhaust gasket out of one's left eyeball? The joy of working on yer back under yer car!
The Pug tried to kill me on the drive home
Christo, I just don't think you're ready for your own motorised transport. Have you considered a bus pass? :)
Hey Christo i dont think the 106 even qualifies as having a back end it is that foccin small.
Maybe extreme loading has knackered its suspension.........carried any heavy stuff lately? :pokefun .
That being said...i did the same when i was a youth...in my Nova :o ......fully loaded with my mates & being too cocky......braking too late before corners in these little shit heaps can make the arse light.....& any bumps can pogo it up & make it doubly light.
Be careful dude coz i wouldnt wanna crash in a Nova......& a Nova is like a tank compared to a 106....actually have you considered a tank :b
Defo kill me. Been round that corner hundreds of times, today, it decides to completely lose the rear end, go sideways along the road (nearly rolling), before trying to spit me off the road backwards. Impressive skidmarks all round!

No, but as it went sideways, I hit the clutch - I didn't want iot going in a field!! As the car came to a halt, I found my foot was still locked on the accelerator, revving away! I definitely had the foot off the clutch when the arse kicked out, as I was trying to apply corrective steering.
I wasn't aware it could lock up the rear, and the car felt stable. Like I said, time to reassess.
ChrisTo - I really hope they don't let you do anything mechanical at e-Go !!!!!!!!!

Why don't you come to Sywell and find out? :lol
If you came here in the Schweizer, you may be mugged - we've got Robinson R22s and R44s coming out of our ears!!
Crashed my car into a deer :o . Damage is not the worst though, should be able to get it roadworthy with some gaffa tape and a trip to the scrapyard :D
Had to pay the bloody DVLA £80 as LLP on my last Fazer, despite me explaining the situation directly. If there is even the slightest hint of a fuck-up when I send my licence in for derestriction, there's gonna be blood!
Late Licensing Penalty. I never got round to SORNing it after the crash.
Got an old bike back together and took it for a run..

And yep, it's a 01 model plated as an 02 with 20k in it. Absolutely immaculate!
Very nice looking R1. The previous owner could've been me, looking at the size of those chicken strips ;) :lolI'll have rid of them strips as soon as I get used to these Rosso corsa tyres, they're a bit weird!

Tried to adjust the exup valve cables as there was a 7k fault code, and found out the valve has seized solid! Bugger!
Repair, or fit 4-1 exupless system?
Yeah, I know how to fix it. Just fancy doing something different and wondered if anyone has already done it with decent results?
As I have been booted off the "What did you do with your Fazer today?" thread for posting up comments about Kwaks and Peugeots (you bastards! :lol :lol ), I'm throwing the toys out of the pram, and making my own thread. So there. :b
So, if you have a nice car, other bike, or even a nice girlfriend (ooh err missus! :eek ) - what did you do with it today?
I'll start: Cancelled the insurance on the ZX4... And got a pittance back (compared to what I paid the fuckers). :'( :'( :'(
And put fuel in the Peugeot :car . Foc me, I'm only getting 57mpg out of a diesel! :eek I miss my bikes... :'(
Just spent about 2 hours brushing and vacuuming the dog hairs from the car upholstery (the dog, that was my dad's, has gone to another home). If ever I carry another dog in the car, I'm gonna wrap the damn thing in cling film first! :grumble

Cleaned the Thundercat, and polished it. Not washed it in months, and it took me hours to get her shiny again!
Also fitted flush led indicators to the front, and plate mount led indicators to the rear of the R1. Much neater, just got to get an led relay to slow the flash down now.

Lighting storm took out our internet router and network switch last night, foc :grumble
Blew the line transformer off the internet broadband router see pictures
It tripped out the 30ma trip for the sockets which lighting always does and for the first time since I built the house 28 years ago, it tripped the 300ma trip I have on the house lights circuit.
The crack from the lighting was so great I thought it had hit the house and went outside to check, thankfully everything was still intact. :)
There was no discernible time delay between the lighting and the peel of thunder and it appears to have hit the farmers shed just over 500m away. :eek

that'll teach you to take the piss out of a man with a direct line upstairs :evil
Very mild today. 100 mile round trip to Abergele, Colwyn Bay, back to Wrexham. Called at the Ponderosa, Horseshoe Pass, for a bite to eat. For once, my 25 year old bike wasn't the oldest in the car park.

Oh yeah and finished plumbing in the 650 bros engine into Rommel my transalp/fazer hybrid thingy
Managed to a get a little spare time this afternoon, much to my surprise, so headed on down to the garage to continue with the work on my ZS engine
Finally found the stupid little hole used to lock the engine in the safe position and aligned the timing marks and painted on some of my own marks for reference later. Got everything setup finally and went to begin replacing the links belts to find that I've lost the new set of belts... needless to say I'm not overly impressed with myself given that it's something like £220 a set

Was it on the clutch end after all?
Also, your belts are behind your door in your living room if you hadn't moved them since my last visit. ;)
I admired and salivated over my new bike before managing a quick run on it (my weekend house guests -- not bikers -- understood slightly):
drove to my static caravan in saundersfoot, turned the heating on and closed the curtains, there is a storm outside and the sea is rough, also I have got to walk to the pub later, a full 100 metres. :)

Fun as it is - why not get a car licence? You could take on Christ-Oh's Peugeot then and fix the things he's broken?
But good luck with the Fazer transplant into the older one - it'll be interesting to see how it performs.
Back home this afternoon a little earlier than usual so as there was some light left I cracked on again with seeing if I could get the front timing belt sorted. 20 minutes later and its all timed up correctly and reassembly has begun :D
I have a new clutch kit arriving in the next day or two, but that's a piss easy job. Need to re-attach a few covers, try to find a few lost bolts I've left somewhere and then offer the engine back up the car.
Once that is done, clean up the new gearbox and reinstall and then the might ZS should be back on the road :D

When you're pisssi g about u derneath the car do you ever think ih shit the chassis is a bit rotten or whatever......not saying that it is but genuinely curious coz on my old golf.....well it wasnt bad bad....but it wasnt good either....the ZS is slightly more modern......where were those MG's manufactured and how thick is the metal and how dothe floor pans and sills look up clise and personal.
Before i got my type-r i had a few grand saved up and was gonna get a big bore performance engine from some place in Sommereset fitted but i buckled nd went for new car............but im always windering what if.......and will my modern made car stand the test of time...
Any thoughts?

Just give it to me Noggy and it'll save you all the heartache of spending any more on it ;)
Noggy, have you seen the new MT09, with the front fairing ,like the FZ1s ?????? its a proper job..in January issue of bike mag
Remember that time we did the road out to Aberystwyth Noggy? The MT07 is not the right bike for you ;)
MT09 maybe.
im a little fed up of my teeth being rattled out on less than perfect surfaces.

It's a shame your view of the FZ1 has been coloured this way. I reckon there must be something seriously wrong with the suspension still, and wonder how you'd find a stock one if you tried one? You are the first person I have heard criticise them so harshly.

The Tracer slim?...yeh it's nice, well it's another clone....but i bet it rides nice.
An MT09 will be my lot though if it happens, it is perfect for my needs...as is the little 07.......but you know theres lots going on with bikes right now......for example maybe a few MT09 owners will now be tempted with a tracer instead....maybe sold on the engine but do touring...maybe the ones with money will trade in their MT09's
For a Tracer and that migt give me a chance of a yamaha approved year old MT09 on finance. 8)
Well heres hoping anyway.

Yeh it has been pissed about with so much for track riding that it isnt enjoyable on small roads.
Ive maxed out the compression on the front shocks yet theres still too much travel left even with my fat carcass on it....they've been uprated too much & sometimes the rear is jarring.....but on the A44 which is quite smooth, big corners it is quite nice.
Speed is excellent, noise, looks, bling factor are all good but the overall riding experience just isnt there......i feel like im really trying to ride around its haarshness and that ill probably be far better & quicker on any smaller but normally specced up bike.....i've done over 6k miles on it now & im still not happy.
Slim is the man to try it out...much lighter than me and well used to his FZ1 now.
MG got a bit of lovin today as the engine is now re-attached to the chassis with help from Christo... despite his yammering and complaining about being tired, cold and ill etc etc
Had a bit of trouble getting the lower mount to line up properly, but after a few hours and much swearing it is now connected - had to attach the top mount first which I expect I'll have to take back off again to gain access to a few bolts that weren't dealt with previously.
I may get back out on it tomorrow, but I'll see what the weather has in store first and how my well my muscles have recovered
I'm a little concerned that every time I think about this project I keep feeling like I've forgotten something :\

That you left Christo lying in the mud the cold under the car after reattaching your aircon pump? :rollin
Hahaha, got it in one ;)
I'm fairly sure everything is looking positive so far. Managed to double confirm that the new Gearbox definitely has an LSD on it - Torsen Type B which is exactly what I was after :D Looking forward to seeing how well it affects the handling as the car was pretty good before hand.
Took the DT50MX round the block as im going to use it as my winter bike , its not quite as quick as the R1 :eek :lol :rollin

What kind of horsepower does you MG have?
Drive with caution until you get used to it, especially on braking and acceleration through tight bends and speeding through roundabouts, :eek you will have to modify your driving style a little, but the reduction in torque steer will be a great help. :) Have fun, don't forget to let us know how you get on. :D

Cheers Joe, are you sure mate?
Im pretty sure when i was adjusting it that i read that you adjust the compression and go out for a spin and then keep doing that over bumps and heavy braking etc until the cable tie is down to about 10mm from bottoming out.
Whatever way i was going it was going down more and more until i couldnt adjust it any further and it has probably about an inch and a half of travel still left that i just cant use as i couldnt adjust it any further.
If you've got more info though ill take it

It's the 2.5 litre V6 (MG ZS 180) but outputs circa 174hp according to the likes of Parkers ( http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/facts-and-figures/mg/zs/saloon-2001/21449/ (http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/facts-and-figures/mg/zs/saloon-2001/21449/) )
People have mentioned about how much difference an LSD makes but I really don't know what to expect... I would have thought it would make the car easier to control...
The torque steer on it before hand was a bit of a nightmare :P Especially if you just planted your foot to the floor :evil :evil :lol

Nog
Not very good advice there Nog, everybody has a different style and suspension should be tuned to individuals style as well as weight.
A good example is Lorenzo and Rossi, their setting are completely different yet both are exceptionally fast riders.
My sons and I are reasonably quick riders and anytime we have ridden together we have all kept pace, if we swap bikes we struggle to reach the same pace, because we have very different suspension settings.
Much talk on suspension adjustments are track related and they do not transfer well to dodgy country roads.
You need to comprise between handling and comfort.
As a start point.
Set the static sag on the forks to 30mm, turn the Rebound and compression adjusters to the standard settings
Set the static sag on the rear to 20mm and the rebound and compression adjusters to their standard settings.
Take it for a spin and see how it feels
What sag does it have?
If you can get 25 to 35 mm sag, you may just need to change the fork oil to the standard oil. It is likely that the previous owner has put in a thicker oil to increase the damping levels.
Didn't noggy say he had set it with his wife doing the measurements? I would assume that means he was kitted up and sat on it...
Didn't noggy say he had set it with his wife doing the measurements? I would assume that means he was kitted up and sat on it...
Missed that bit, :groan
Laden sag would want to be 25 to 30% of the fork travel which according to the manual is 130mm which would make the laden sag around 30 to 40mm.
25mm would only be the start point of static sag

I Think my brain is sagging :b
trouble is that coz my bike has a side stand only then I didn't know what the bikes normal sag was without me on it..........so I guessed that it was 10mm :o :o :o
and then we went with the 25mm with me sat on it....that's an accurately guessed 35mm...innit :o :o :o
yes I know :o :o :o
I hate this bike :lol
oh and yes I had my kit on.....although admittedly I didn't quite feel the need to actually wear the helmet so I held it on the tank :)
Became a chimney sweep for the morning and cleaned the chimney :b
So... life went bad for the MG over the weekend...
The new gearbox is mostly shot - god damn seller lied about its state...
Here is the damage to the cover surrounding the oil seal for the nearside driveshaft
After a bit of investigative work on the old box I figured I could just swap over the casings and life would be good. This did not work. I struggled for a bit trying to get the cover off of the old box, eventually resorting to Google where I found that there is a circlip hiding behind a bolt that needs to be released. Did this and off popped the cover with little effort. I proceeded to remove the new box from the car to do the same thing... but no. Not a chance. Fucker won't budge. I've done everything exactly the same as the old box but the cover still only lifts about 20mm and no further.
Stupid circlip...
Old gearbox
The real concerns are that there is some not very nice stuff leaking out of the box that happens to include metal filings... a fair few of them... and then, just to add salt to the wound, suddenly I hear tap tap tap tap as a load of ball bearings decide to make a bid for freedom. Looks like the bearing carrier on the offside of the diff has given up on life, which just so happens to be the one I can't even get to without dismantling the entire thing
Then I get a call from the estate agents. They aren't impressed with my vehicular maintenance. So, after all this, I give up. Old box, despite its issues, is going back on. I'll admit that I've made a bodge of this project from start to finish... but you live and learn. I look forward to having a nice 2+ car garage in the future where I have all the space I need, heating, lighting, tools where I can do whatever the foc I want
up against it deadeye :\ .....been there myself a few times....going back many, many, many years when i was your age i had a mk1 escort with v6 3.0 ltr essex engine...one hell of a car.. :lol ....living with my parents and no garage meant working outside,it had a fierce appertite for rear diffs, gearboxes and head gaskets all fixed outside in all weathers, engine was a tight fit so to remove the gearbox that was engine out time, towards the end of my ownership engine in and outs were done in a day with time to spare :D .....one car i shouldn`t of sold :'( ...
time to walk away for a while matey, things will be easier when you go back......is the estate agent going to let you put it back together ?.........as iam a little :rolleyes older than you,i now have my own garage at the bottom of the garden with light and power, and just about all the tools i need....it makes it a lot easier,no need to tidy up at the end of the day, just close the door untill tomorrow, iam half way through a job on mrs reds car its cold and frosty and wet outside but no problem for me ..........you`ll get there mate ;) .........pm to self, stop reading noggys long posts :lol
Ha ha Red ya swine! :lol
G
Why say in a few words what can be said in 50 words eh ;)
:lol :lol :lol..........too much time on my hands mr nog, bike put away today untill next year, missing it already......anywhos, how long till we hear the patter of little nog ?
No way, the car is staying! That is unless I blow up the engine when I try to start it... that would be an entirely different story...
However, what it does mean is no LSD for now and I return to my potentially problematic 5th gear and shifting issues. I live in hope that tidying up the clutch and associated mechanisms might have fixed it since the gears don't look too bad on the old box. Unfortunately, this is yet another item that it is out of my experience, so I'm not 100% sure what I'm looking for...
For the future I think the plan is to reinstall the old box and get the car back on the road. If my finances are looking better next year then I'll be moving out of my current place in to something like a 2 bed house with a garage. I'll have much more freedom to then take the box off and fit the LSD by either repairing the new box, or sourcing another one or something along those lines.
It's definitely frustrating and hard work, but I do really enjoy mechanics at the end of the day... it never feels like it, but I guess it must be true if I keep putting myself through all of this. Having a full on work shop would make life much easier. I'm pretty please with my new ratchet spanners - they've made life sooo much easier on a few scenarios already :D
Dodgy 5th gear - it didn't like to engage without crunching most of the time unless I matched road speed and revs. I got pretty used to this so it became less of an issue. I also experienced heat soak, or something like that, with the clutch hydraulics which meant that in summer if I did anything under 50 for more than 15 minutes it became very hard to change gear. On very hot days in traffic it almost got to a point of having to pull over and stop because you just couldn't change gear.
There is information that the bracket that holds the slave clutch cylinder isn't up to the job, but also that the clutch release arm may need attention to free it up. The latter I have done whereas the former is something I will look at if I continue to experience issues. The hydraulic system itself is sealed so there isn't much you can do with it other than replace it. You can get a new system that isn't sealed which allows you to bleed the system adjust the pedal height in the car, but this mostly affects the other models, not the ZS 180.
Apologies for the long replies, but there's a lot of research and history that has lead me to my decisions :P The new box also had the LSD on it which would have been a nice upgrade. So, in the future I will be rebuilding a gearbox in some fashion :P
The linkages seem fine to me, I'll take a more thorough look in a few days when I take another crack at it.
The system is completely sealed - no bleed nipples anywhere. As far as I am aware, there is something you can do which involves rebuilding the master cylinder with some modified components to allow the system to be bled.
On both boxes I have tried selecting gears with the box off the car and they work ok :) From what I've read recently, the 5th gear synchro may be interfering with the casing going back on... or something like that :\ I found a complete rebuild guide to the PG1 box on the Rover Tech forums so that will come in handy later on
I still love the car and it really isn't the car that's causing me the stress. I know full well that things may go wrong when doing any sort of work on a vehicle and I accept that. The stress is coming from the pressure of the Management Agency for the building (I'm in a flat with an en-bloc garage).RX8 eh......ooooh very nice sir.........suits you sir...............but why keep the MG then?.....coz you wanna I suppose :lol............I'd like an RX-8 but sadly im now stuck with cars that can easily accommodate a baby seat....pah....oh well maybe when im in my 40's.
The costs I've put in to the car are still worth it, despite it costing way more than I had anticipated when I started in September.
Talking of another car though... it's likely I will be buying my friends car from him as well. It's a ridiculously good deal that I can't say no to - its a Mazda RX-8. They have their quirks, but they shouldn't really affect me plus I know its history of the past 2-3 years and what work has been done to it etc etc
Any foccers fancy helping me move house in Feb? :P
Picked up cage no. 2 today :)
Finally have a car (54 plate RX-8) to get around and make use of... including picking up the new gearbox for the MG :)
I'll get pictures up tomorrow when there is some decent light :)
Don't forget grandpa..... The piston rings are fitted :-))
TE610?
Took the tdr 250 out for a blast around herts, brilliant fun, not sure about the brakes though, think I'm spoilt with the blue spots!

got alot of go too, spins up on tarmac easily

Sure I've seen TDR's with blue spot calipers - thought they were a straight fit - find a TDR forum and ask - problem solved :-)
Bought another two stroke :D
Hey Red you're getting the hang of this photo malarkey..........just in time for cameras to become obsolete :lol
I bet you can programme a VCR using the scanner/tv times :b
VCR ?..........just bought myself one of those new fangled beta max jobbies....very high tech, state of the art, latest technologies thingy........ :lol
Unfazed......starting up your bike to warm the oil before draining it, i understand that bit.....but what's your opinion on starting up the bike with the old oil still in it???......because my bike is sorn for the winter i always like to drain the oil that has been sitting in the engine for months and not start the engine until there's fresh oil back in it as i thought the old stuff would be full of water or condensation and generally a bit crap..........ok it's the same oil that was in it when last switched off.....but just with added water maybe and been through some frost or whatever.
Am i being overly cautious then?
Bought another two stroke :D
Do I really have to?
:useless
Or can't you feckin remember what it is/where you've put it :rollin

It's a big 6 bed house Nick.
Next up is razer wire around my perimeter, acid filled moat with draw bridge and gate house, and machine gun turrets with those auto fire guns like in the alien film. Hopefully that will stop the Deer, evil Muntjac and Pheasants from fighting their way through my hedgerow, hoofing up my nice lawn and eating my vegetation.
Orf my land!

Last weekend I began the work of replacing the radiator in the ZS - the final step toward getting it back on the road. Today I finished this off and the car is finally running properly with no leaks!!
Looking forward to using it more now and heading off to a meet with it tomorrow :) I'll get some photos up once I've had a chance to wash it... well... get someone else to wash it...

why not? You have nothing else to do, no bike to ride :lol
So you do the housework as well as clean cars then?
I have ladies to pleasure. ;) Liam can clean his own fuckin' car. :b
All nice and clean now :D
Put the RX-8 up for sell as I just can't afford to run it along side the MG and the Fazer and I really need the cash right now. Sad to see it go, but realistically I never fell in love with it as I did with the MG
Can I make a suggestion though? What it needs is....................................black. Yes, black, lots of lovely black all over the place, splash it on, black, BLACK I TELL YOU! :lol
Excellent work Kosmic. Oils I think?
Makes my efforts at watercolours seem pretty crap. I haven't done anything in quite a while, but hoping to get back into it one day. Never tried oils, but I wonder if I might find it a little easier than watercolours, as those are one-shot things; get it too wrong and there's no recovering it, whereas with oils you can rescue mistakes? Not to take anything away from yours, that's pretty bloody good.

Nick. They're not oils it's acrylic paint on canvas. You can get them to look like oils or watercolours depending on how much water you use. I don't really use oils any more because I hate waiting for it to dry.
Changed the oil, spark plug and sharpened the blade on my lawnmower ready for the new season. ROCK AND ROLL!

Finally bit the bullet and dealt with the cars lack of exhaust. It's been a fun few months with the overly loud exhaust (particularly the last week or so with the back box totally removed) but it is now back to reality with a brand new, custom made to order, stainless steel exhaust from the cat back :) Lovely burly noise at the low to mid range which is awesome and she still roars when gunning it :D

Started re-assembly of my suzuki x7 after a rebore........2 stroke twiin cylinder 250cc, for you young uns ..........one piston in no problem, came to fit the other and one of the rings tightens up in the grove before the ends meet, just cant quite get it in the bore, so off with the rings and I try them one at a time, they go in easy :rolleyes....so, put them both back on and try again, still cant get the foccin thing in....round peg in a round hole, and I cant foccin do it :wall.......so off again, try them one at a time , no problems, fit both and still cant get the foccin thing in :wall :wall :wall......so out of curiosity I take the rings off, turn them over and re-fit , fitted in the bore a treat :D.....work that one out ;)
Quote "makes a nice plop, plop noise when I turn it over "
Sounds like my wife after a session
Good thinking nick, the peg in the piston is the full width of the groove, I measured the rings and cant see any difference from side to side....very strange, you could be right but I cant spot the difference....might phone the supplier tomorrow and see what he says........head not on yet but still makes a nice plop, plop noise when I turn it over :lol
Fixed a hood on a camera lens and saved myself best part of £500 in the process. Then went out and shot these.

Cheers Robbie. I kept and flew one of these when I was at secondary school. Inspired by the book Kes. They take an awful lot of dedication and looking after. She is now stuffed and sits on top the book shelf in my music room.
Kessie the Kestrel. She's starting to look a bit raggedy these days.

Entered the Nifty Fifty Endurance race in May, got myself a Suzuki TS50 for the job.
Spent two weeks stripping it down, sorting the clutch, brakes and carb, finally got it running Friday evening.
Took it for its first test ride at my mate's farm, got 50 yards down a track and came off, dislocating my kneecap and tearing ligaments and other meaty shit out of place.
I'm now in a brace, looking at surgery and can't ride for at least two months.

Not sure if it counts as it was technically off road? :b Bike was fine by the way, my mate was pulling wheelies on it afterwards. :D

Worst part was I had my daughter's christening Sunday and ended up wearing a suit with cut off shorts, like that fucker in the money supermarket advert! Ever since she was born last December, my folks were asking me to stop riding, to ride safely etc. It's funny to think that every day I rag a 95bhp Yamaha down the M6 and through Birmingham, and it's a poxy 50cc bike at 10mph that actually does me in. :rollin

Started the strip down and stripped down the throttle cable and lubed as it was sticking. Also started polishing the frame.. You can see the part that's polished... Just need to do the rest of the frame and forks. The rear tyre has a nail in it :( , so will take to bike shop to get a plug put in it. Going to check amount of oil in the forks as the front end is really soft :\
Heels and all? :eek :eek :eek
I saw a 14 plate V7 Guzzi in the early '70s Black/Red colours today. Parked up at the top of the A50 slip road off the roundabout where it crosses the A38.
It wasn't yours was it?

Rode the Guzzi to Minehead today ,stopping at Riders in Bridgewater on the way , getting used to it, I reckon 75 miles each way is about far as my upper back can take , the mind is willing ,just wish the body felt the same way .
Went for a spin down to lanark-douglas- muirkirk strathaven...
It isn't that much louder than the huge standard can. Aprilia fitted an exhaust valve purely for noise regs. it remains closed until 6000 rpm to pass the noise tests. (God only knows how they got away with that one!). I disconnected mine because it caused hunting on a steady throttle.. It's the best sounding bike i've ever owned... 8)
Will you two just piss off with your really nice bikes either of which i would like!!!
Did the 50 mile cycle route of the Coventry and Rugby Bikeathon for the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Charity, with my wife Liz, son Ryan and his best friend. Great weather, great ride (even though we did it in mountain bikes and got passed by hundreds (or what seemed like hundreds) of road bike riders) and lovely fresh roast pork and stuffing sandwiches at the end :)

Love the Guzzi :)
We followed one from Baden-Baden on the B500 a couple of years back. The old? rider was clad in black, oldstyle leathers. He didn't hang about & the bike handled beautifully. I don't know what model it was but it was fun to follow on such a great road.

I can only guess how loud it is with the valve open :)

Long time no speaky Foccers - this has been keeping me busy recently. ZX9r 2004.
Very clean but new bikes always require a bit of work, was working on it over the weekend hence it's semi naked state :b
Took the hooligan bike to work today :lol nearly more fun than the Fazer :eek

blimey that cleans up well man :thumbup ,you obviously have too much time on yer hands ;)
comfortable id call it but lacking in the grin factor though,i was just glad to have something to get out in the rare irish sunshineSunshine in Ireland! :eek Must be like Scotland where i reside :lol
Billy Balthorpe.....that FZR looks minted, must've cost you a fortune......anyway they are before my time a bit but i do like them and i sat on the 750 version which was surprisingly comfortable....my limited understanding is that this 1000 was crammed into the same 750 frame.
Anyway...my question is this....ok they look cool but how does it handle when it matters....have you done a y hard cornering yet & how would it compare in that department against the fazer?
Met up with some local lads and rode some fantastic byways to Glider café at Charing for some breakfast. A 20 strong contingent of the Kent greenlaners turned up looking and sounding like a Mad Max movie. A good start to Fathers day and only one little off when my front washed out over some tree roots. Managed to pick it up and remount before the others came round the corner and rip the piss out of me. :D Had to own up to it though when I needed to borrow an allen key to retighten my handguard :oThat looks a lot of fun, not sure how my knees would cope with that lol :)
Went to see Terminator .
Yes , but I am a fan of Arnie and the Terminator franchise , plenty of action and a few scenes from the first film , but with different actors , worth a watch imo .Went to see Terminator .
And????
Any good?
Razor wire is far more effective and does not block the wind :lol :lol
Went out on the Guzzi , pass Chew Valley and Blagdon lakes , up through Burrington , through Cheddar , stopped for a coffee , then headed for home .
Topped up the coolant, bled the clutch and changed the oil on the Aprillia RSV.
Looked at FJ 1200 and thought about taking the engine out for a clean and re-spray, but decided it was too much effort for today.
I WANT IT!!!
Fitted a Baglux tank cover to the tiger which I got for a bargain. :D
Only to find out that it needs a specific tank bag to fit!
My alpha bag is now bloody redundant! : :)
Had a ride out to North Wales to get some running in miles on my new Ducati :DFantastic looking bike .
Doesn't look very good weather on the pic below but it was lovely most of the day, unusual for Wales :eek

New Bike--running in at present--she's got all the trinkets and novelties as well--proper fast too
No magic tree air freshener fitted yet and no ashtray either, just done over 500 miles on her, cornering is smooth and steady, acceleration in Dynamic mode is pretty fierce, will take a wee bit of getting used to, but so far no real causes for concern, just a pretty good bike.New Bike--running in at present--she's got all the trinkets and novelties as well--proper fast too
Did you go for the magic tree upgrade.....forest fresh..mmmmmmmm :lol
Anyway...i feel we need a review :deal
Got wiped out on my new Ducati, last Sunday actually, so no riding for me for some time :'(
Can't even get in the garage to do some tinkering, just pain and rehabilitation for me for the next few months at least :'(

I think Wanker is to nice a word for him.
Just bought this for the R1. I'm gonna be sat at the front door like a kid waiting for it to arrive. :P
Took the head off my honda cb250rs to see why its burning oil, yep, that will be why then...
Woooooo....hold up there MR NOG.......a quick check on FOC-U rules and regs tells me that if you dont own a fazer you cant use the "poke fun"thingy...... ;) .....heres a piccie that might explain it better to a non fazer owner...... :lol ...didn't do a "how to" as not a fazer , same principles though.. ;)
unfazed....surprisingly it didn' t smoke that much and a compression test showed a good reading only a slight improvemet with a drop of oil down the bore before re-testing, you could smell it though, and to make matters worse I dont think the oils been changed since new, a real stale smell :\ .....didn't expect this level of damage though, I had already bought the replacement barrel/piston before stripping as cheaper than rebore/new piston/rings...all good now

Last time I saw that kind of wear was on a CB125 which had a lot of piston slap and the gudgeon pin was badly worn. We thought that may have been the cause or the bore/piston wear. We rebored it to first oversize and replaced all the bits and it went like a train for years after. Never really understood why the pin wore so badly, as it never happened again.
What was the play in the gudgeon pin like?

Took the Husky 350 out for a quick spin,,called at the pub for a pint,, got home and the dog had escaped,,oh dear ,, got into the chicken orchard,,,i found one badly chewed chicken,,,still alive ,,,,just.
Terry the young cockerel came out from the bushes,unscathed,,3 pheasants came down from the trees to me,,then after half an hour I spotted another chicken,,looks ok,,it was wedged in some thistles,be tween some rubbish,,
so 1 chicken missing and a pheasant,, hope they appear in the morning,, also hope the injured chicken survives.
My fault,,leaving poultry out while away,,dog just doing what working dogs do.
Now the dog was out,,came to greet me,,,naughty dog,,,buttttt, my wife says the dog only got out when it heard the motorbike,,,perhaps mr Fox paid a visit,,thats why the chicken is missing,,,,,so what happened ?
Picked it up....and rode it home from cheltenham on the A40......& had a bacon roll at Oasis cafe Abergavenny....first tome i've been there. 8)

O.k. So not me personally but thought my brother had been a bit quiet for the last few days and today I found out why.
It was a bit of an animal on the road but now it's been supermoto'd....... It still is, just goes round corners better. :D
Wassat slim?......another pic.....ah ok....since you insist :bTheres a really nice TRX cafe in Grantham, spoked wheels and usd forks (think they were but been awhile) will try to get a pic of it sometime.
I only took pics coz Nick was being so smug with his lakeland pics....where he photoshopped his bike into the lakes.
Thats what he does...he showed me the software....and his camping kit is alll just pictures of camping kit that he transposes onto wherever he wants us to think he is.
Ahh yes, owned an old air cooled 490 many years back. 4 speed box and could be a bastard to start.
Thing was like a coiled spring just waiting to hurt you. Flipped mine in 3rd gear too, just remember seeing the rear mudguard shatter as I slid down the road behind it looking at the sparks.
Even rode it off road for a while with a knackered shock, that was challenging. :lol
Everyone should have a spin on a twostroke once in their life. I had a 250lc with a YPVS lump fitted, passed everything except petrol stations

Got talking to a chap who used to race TZs on the Island the other day, he made me laugh. When I mentioned I'd owned a couple of H2 750s, he said, "ah yes, used to be said they were the only petrol-cooled motorcycles" :lol
Just got back off a mini break with the missus on the tiger. Blackpool to Barnard Castle for a couple of nights and exploring the sights of Durham.stevie, she is one ugly bitch
It was her first time where we've spent the night away on the bike, and had to pack both the panniers with the usual ladies items. I had barely a tank bag full. : :)
She enjoyed it though, she's planning France next year!

Didn't I tel you that !!
Got complimented on it's looks at a petrol station I stopped at. Which brings me to...yep, no fuel gauge,
Do you know how much the RD500 was priced at?. I'm guessing somewhere between £15,000-£20,000.

Nice colour though apart from the gold= less black
Good choice Hedgetrimmer! (I may be biased as I've got an 09 ST-R). Good to see you've found a nice one (and the corresponding forum LOL!)
Also arranged to have a nice large shed installed to hold both bikes and give me somewhere to work on them, installation date end of Feb.

I was thinking of more when a couple of Foccers would be visiting, they wouldn't be expected to leave their bikes outside. :lol
It would be very difficult to negotiate the steps into the kitchen :lol
I like your thinking... LOFOS hit Cumbria.
Put the winning bid on it on Ebay,
This is a new chapter :eek

Can you imagine how many cafes there are between you lot and Cumbria? Better set off now if you want to make it up here by summer :lol

My last bike was a Honda, a VFR, what a beauty of a bike, just like what it says on the box, amazing quality and reliability, just like the FZ1s,,(except the fireblades 175 bhp engine is expected to use a litre of oil per 1000 miles, hell, the vfr didn't)
It will be fine, it's just a bike, lol

Id call my bike Black Death..........but it is too slow......."black not quite dead but in absolute agony forever" doesnt have the same ring to it :o

What about "The Plague".
Do you know how much the RD500 was priced at?. I'm guessing somewhere between £15,000-£20,000.
I don't think it's for sale, nor the 250.
Got complimented on it's looks at a petrol station I stopped at. Which brings me to...yep, no fuel gauge,
Didn't I tel you that !!
Not that bothered tbh.QuoteNice colour though apart from the gold= less black

What are these strange CD things of which you speak?
Good result rierider...been looking at swapping to a round headlight on my trx and that hornet unit looks ok. 8)It looks almost the same to me
@noggythenog
The original Hornet 900 SC48 headlight has a chrome ring and an unpainted housing:
Here in Germany they are rare and quiet expensive. You can buy a new aftermarket headlight for about the same price. But I think the OEM-quality from Stanley is better even if it is used. The one I used for the BMW was cheap since the housing had a crack and the chrome ring some dents and scratches.
An alternative is the very similar headlight from the naked version of the Suzuki SV650.
Finally took the plunge and spent nearly £700 on Rukka Gore Tex jacket & trousers, link below. Good quality feel and a 6yr warranty - got fed up of trying to re proof my gear and failing badly.

Frosties.....with a 6 year guarantee on this stuff that is still only £150 ish per year for those 6 years....for guaranteed comfort.
I can see myself being interested in some...maybe become an all year biker for the first time...few things motor related in the pipeline but sadly not involving any MV Brutale.....my missus might soon have a driving licence & so i plan on giving her the 3 year old skoda and getting myself an old merc sprinter to get done up as a camper.....complete with space for loading a bike.....thing is i dont want to be putting unnecessary mileage on a camper just by going back and forward to work.....bike is the obvious answer.....but i need to look smart in work and be dry so itll have to be an all weather bike and some decent all weather gear.......decisions decisions :b
Went to see the new Dad's Army film this evening... :'( :'( :'(

I already have my idea of what it will be like, but what was your verdict?
Well later this afternoon the roads were dry,got home early enough to tax the fireblade and take it for some fresh petrol and a gentle test ride.

It went very well,i don't know if I will get on with it but will see how the summer goes.
The bike has only done 1700 miles and you can tell, it is so tight, and it sure goes, it has the original tyres on,6 year old Dunlop Qualifires, plenty of tread but I will change them as they may be harder than new.
I tried it a bit on the dual carriageway, haha, hell, what can I say.
Went to see the new Dad's Army film this evening... :'( :'( :'(
I already have my idea of what it will be like, but what was your verdict?
I found it very disappointing.
I really like the original show and I did try to view the new movie with an open mind, trying not to compare the characters too much with the old cast, but I found that's inevitable (and therefore disappointing).
The old storyline of Mainwaring removing his spectacles and consequently stumbling around gets used a lot and the ending was a bit OTT.
Overall I would give it 1* out of 5.

but in truthfulness the moment i heard the new Captain Mainwarings voice i immediately shouted out "That's gonna be shit!"
Nice bike & I like the look of your "family seat"! :lolYeh, gates take a bit of painting every two years
Went to see the new Dad's Army film this evening... :'( :'( :'(Its shocking to think that if it were now then I think I would of been in Dads Army, I wonder if we were suddenly transported back then how many of us would actually be the age to be in Dads Army (home guard)

It would have been cheaper just to include bike recovery on your insurance. :lol :lol
I won just over a couple of grand on the Irish Lotto a week ago on their version of Hotpicks so thought i'd treat myself.
I had the week off as well using up my holiday, so bought a 4K Panasonic 40 inch LED tv, and also a twin HD tuner Freeview recorder/Bluray/DVD player that also upscales every channel to 4K as well.
Now, i work on a daily basis with high end monitors, but the picture quality when using the HD channels is simply jaw droppingly stunning, and believe me i'm a fussy sod due to my job.
Also both of them have wifi so have all the extras available as well with no need for any wires at all to faff about with, and can also receive anything from my phone wirelessly too.
Job's a good'un. :smokin

Its nice around there Nick, 3 degrees when I got back home last night, I have just bought the Oxford 2.0 Jacket and trousers and they with the thermal liners are abosolutly amazing, very very warm,no chill anywhere, loads of pockets, I have been looking for a waterproof set of Textiles for a while, jus thope they are cool enough in the summer, I have fitted the heated grips too,
Bike looks good, nippy is it?
Well that's weird... can't say I've heard of that sort of configuration on a 4 cylinder before
sat on my sofa watching the bikes through the window, gutted to ill to ride. :'(
Today, did the Keswick/Borrowdale/Honister/Buttermere/Whinlatter/Keswick loop. I wrapped up so much, I was actually too warm at times. And found my old cold-killers inner gloves before going, which worked a treat inside Spada Enforcer gloves.
Borrowdale:

I think that's called Sergeant's Crag:
(http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN1687_zpspa1ruzyv.jpg) (http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/nicknicklxs/media/DSCN1687_zpspa1ruzyv.jpg.html)
If you walk to the foot of it, then swing around it to the right, the path takes you up towards Angle Tarn and you can go on to Bow Fell from there. I did it the other way around a few years ago, starting at Langdale, and camping down below the tarn.
Heading up towards the Honister Pass:
(http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN1689_zpsuqhuhugt.jpg) (http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/nicknicklxs/media/DSCN1689_zpsuqhuhugt.jpg.html)
And at the cafe car park:
(http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN1693_zpstp1ie7ur.jpg) (http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/nicknicklxs/media/DSCN1693_zpstp1ie7ur.jpg.html)

One of the things I love about the Lake District is you don't have to walk far above the roads and car parks to get some really stunning views:
(http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN1697_zpsllofwduo.jpg) (http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/nicknicklxs/media/DSCN1697_zpsllofwduo.jpg.html)
Although I have definitely lost my hill-fitness!
Yeah, I know, I've posted this view before, but it's a favourite of mine :) :
(http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN1713_zpslnluqc18.jpg) (http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/nicknicklxs/media/DSCN1713_zpslnluqc18.jpg.html)
I had been a bit concerned about the possibility of ice on this loop, but in actual fact the roads were all dry, and very little run-off from the hills. Past Buttermere and you go past Crummock Water:
(http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN1731_zpszvphtmuu.jpg) (http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/nicknicklxs/media/DSCN1731_zpszvphtmuu.jpg.html)
There's a great walk I did above here. Starting with Whiteless Pike:
(http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN1739_zpsuqpex8fv.jpg) (http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/nicknicklxs/media/DSCN1739_zpsuqpex8fv.jpg.html)
You carry on up onto, I think, Eel Crag, then turn to cross a broad, high plain, which takes you to the top of Grasmoor:
(http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN1729_zpsp3zzmscp.jpg) (http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/nicknicklxs/media/DSCN1729_zpsp3zzmscp.jpg.html)
From which you get some really spectacular views all the way to Scafell on a good day, with ridge after ridge in between.
Also viewed from hereabouts, Red Pike:
(http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN1737_zpsw6buvntd.jpg) (http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/nicknicklxs/media/DSCN1737_zpsw6buvntd.jpg.html)
From the Buttermere side, a bit of a desperate scramble on very loose, steep scree towards the top!
A last shot looking back down the road before heading for the cafe and home:
(http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN1747_zpsd3awqj7z.jpg) (http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/nicknicklxs/media/DSCN1747_zpsd3awqj7z.jpg.html)

Rode the Striple up to the Hartside cafe. Much better suited to these roads than the big Fazer, just feels like everything's a bit more in hand. Great road up there, but Sunday is obviously not a good day for it, as there were loads of chavved-up cars tearing up and down, barely keeping to their own side of the road. So my cunning plan is to do it again tomorrow, when it's supposed to be sunnier too :D

Im still yet to make my first trip up to Hartside. This will be my first summer with a "big" bike so hopefully plenty of trips out and about the North East :)

Great looking bike , gonna be taking a Harley out for a demo Saturday .
Went up to Blackpool and bought this. Spent the rest of the afternoon riding round to my mates and showing it off. Its lovely, doesn't vibrate, handles, stops well, very chuckable, and FAST (for a cruiser).

Tip not top .Washed and chamoised the Astra , and took a pile of the old decking to the top.

Messed around on Salisbury Plain. That reminds me the other week I was trundling along my fave twisties when I hit a load of mud on the road from a tractor. But then up in the distance there was this brown blob and as I got closer to make out what it was I realised it was bike and rider completely covered in mud.
Cheers
Markie
sat on my arse outside the pub on the beach, had a few nice sunny day butwindywhat will tommorow bring. ;)
Lovely bikeThanks and great fun to ride .
Looking good
The road down to Ambleside from kirkstone pass is called the struggle it's great when you get a clear run down weeling and jumping the crests

Bought this :)It looks mint .
Bought this :)Fabulous bike mate :thumbup I love Tuonos, great bike to ride as are the Milles. I've had a few and have been hankering after another one.
I've got tcx boots and they are brilliant. I'm taking my tuono out for it's first proper ride today, so i can tinker with the suspension. It sounds amazing.. Neighbours are going to hate me :lol
Just a little heads up - naughty boy, one of your photos shows your neighbours van number plate which is traceable to which you (naughty boy) live next door to. Naughty Boy.

Billy lives next door to Red98.......Skoda pickup.....cant be many of those about......if he doesn't then id be worried about Red turning up, stealing the pick up and loading the bikes on the back...we all know he is capable he has put up pics on here of bikes loaded up on a pickup before :b
I wasn't referring to security but to the public admission of no tax -mot- insurance and riding around the block
Fat fingers, small keyboard :lol .......no not a fazer graveyard....bracknel forest, great MB track
Wouldn't have minded seeing some photos of the Flying Scotsman though - or couldn't you keep up with it? :lol
I did about 150 miles on the Striple today, which is much more realistic for it if I don't want to end up in pain :lol Route was Alston, Hexham, Stanhope, Middleton and home. This is the Triumph's proper hunting ground from now on I think. Absolutely gorgeous weather today :D
Stopped at Derwent Reservoir:
(http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN1852_zpsyqr107no.jpg) (http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/nicknicklxs/media/DSCN1852_zpsyqr107no.jpg.html)
And then got all arty-farty with the camera :lol
And it's nice to enjoy some complete silence for a while:
Especially after the aural battering this bike subjects me to :lol I love it, like a symphony with the pipe, the transmission whine and the roar from the air box; it all builds to a howling crescendo when you wind it on, but by foc, it's deafening!
Liz and I have been getting out on our mountain bikes over in Connecticut - some easy stuff on the Hop River Trail and some nice off-road riding around Case Mountain :)

Mr Sharp - yep, it was steep, rocky and covered in wet leaves, but good fun - couldn't have ridden it the other way though (no traction).
Unfazed - you just make me feel old and stupid, coz I don't get your comment..........and I know it must be me, i don't get what my kids joke about either these days - when you become a pensioner, I'm sure you automatically lose your sense of humour 😕.
As the Fazer is now reserved for the Europe trip, took the Striple to the Lakes again.

Was getting into a nice rhythm on the way back when some car came hacking it up behind me. The light was fading at this point so I let him go in front cos the Striple's headlights are pants, then chased him. He was moving, no idea what car it was, but three figure speeds were clocked, and fun was had!
Went for a cycle around Alburferia :lol
unfazed I thought most people looked like that in alburferia 8)Yes, but usually after midnight :lol
Wish I had his bank balance :'(Went for a cycle around Alburferia :lol

Great weekend on the river. What river and what boat ?
I love the "splay pattern" on your lid it makes it look like the lid is coming at me out the screen
Thats fantastic , good luck with your other challenge , finished mine on Sunday , completed the my Marathon challenge and have raised £75 for BHF .
Liz and I cycled the British Heart Foundation 50 mile Cotswolds ride yesterday with a few friends from Yorkshire.
Probably didn't help spending Saturday night in the pub (had to get up at 5.30 Sunday morning to get down to Cheltenham ready for an 8 o'clock start to the ride), but the ride was great and the weather was fantastic. A few nice hills (no nasty ones) and lots of quiet roads.
Weekend after next we do our annual Coast to Coast cycle ride (150 miles approx) - we have 30 riders with us and hope to raise a load of money for Macmillan Cancer Support - will post up a Just Giving link, hoping for a bit of support from you guys on here. This is our ninth consecutive year of organising and doing this ride - especially poignant as we've lost 3 family members to cancer in the last 18 months and Liz has a 30 yr old friend going through chemo right now.
Picked this up yesterday. So that's two of these ive got now in the same colours.

Its a mess, mouse nests everywhere, when I eventually got the tank open it was horrible. The fork stanchions are focced, as are chain and sprockets, cant get the callipers off, exhaust is standard and was only fitted 12 months before the bike was left in a garden, so hopefully I can rescue it.
I had a little help putting the finishing touches to my daughter's first Yamaha.

Went to Trooping The Colour. Superb stuff! :thumbupIs that you in the hat at the end of the balcony? :lol

It was more in reference to the fact that he got one of those, I want one.
rode my new bike home in the rain ,,but really enjoyed it nonetheless :DI've got one of them. Utterly brilliant bike. Get the gabro ecu reflash for even more power everywhere.
yesterday before todays rain ,went to kinsale on the tuono and took some pics lots of fun this thing is,,only gettin 90 mile b4 the reserve light comes on but i didnt buy it for its fuel economy :lol
will you two f**k off with your gorgeous bikes and get a room for your mutual masterbation fest. :bDon't you mean foc off :lol
Nice looking bike.
Put the kettle on and had tea, the rest can wait until tomorrow, hope that was the problem :rolleyes
V4 wins hands down. :) Better handling, lighter, smaller, better brakes, sounds better, looks better, with tuning both bikes are excellent, but you can get 160 hp at the back wheel of the v4 with a simple ecu reflash and probably 135 hp with the later v2
Put the kettle on and had tea, the rest can wait until tomorrow, hope that was the problem :rolleyesYep, lack of tea breaks can cause all kinds of problems :lol
Hope that helps.
Leaving work today, got a phone call, took off my new 2 day old €140 anti glare driving glasses and helmet to answer the call, put glasses on the tank bag and helmet over them. Foccing wrong number :rolleyes .
Started the bike, put on the helmet took the bike of the centre stand, put down the side stand, and stood right on top of my foccing glasses FOC, FOC FOC. Never heard them falling, foccing mangled.
Had to ride home with the €5 pair that I have for a foccing year

I got 5 pairs of e bay unfazed 10 quid, :) shit but stop the sun, lol

I had an SV650, but it's not in the same league as the kind of litre V twins I'm thinking about. I wish I could stretch to the V4 Tuono though. When I was still living down in Oxfordshire, several times I stood and drooled over one at Blade's in Swindon. Maybe I would find the grunt of the V2 a bit too brutal nowadays.

I've had my RSV Mille for 13 years and while I love it to bits, I'm totally underwhelmed by the "grunt" - it's definitely NOT brutal - compared to my FJ1200 it just doesn't have any low to mid range grunt! Even compared to the Fazer 1000 I don't find the V2 grunty at lower revs. BUT, the thing is, it is grunty at what FEELS like low revs, but look at the tacho and its doing 6000 rpm.
I think what people confuse on a V2 is how high the engine is really revving - my RSV can't pull from 3000 rpm anything like as strongly at eith the FJ, or the Fazer - but both of those bikes feel (and sound) as though they're revving much higher because the 4 firing pulses.
I do agree on the V4 compromise - I loved the RSV4 I rode and Liz's old VF 750 engine is a relaxing gem to use, smooth, torquey and sounds low revving, even at 5-6000 rpm.
Secret is to remove the battery and back depending on the type and stand it on edge over a dry heat source, I generally use the immersion tank in the hot press or the rayburn cooker in winter when it is on. :thumbup
I have recovered a number of devices for people that way.
11 days ago left my tablet PC on the garden table whilst trimming a plant growing up the house wall. Whilst up the ladder it started to spit with rain.... forgot about the bloody tablet!
Found it later that afternoon.... switched it on.... nothing 😕😕😖
Put it in airing cupboard for a couple of days with back removed and tried the 'bag of rice ' trick. Nothing....no signs of life. A week later replaced it with new one as still no signs of life.
Yesterday, before binning it I tried one last time and the thing came to life and works fine 😂
So....the purpose of posting...if you get your phone or tablet wet, don't give up too soon, you never know!
D
Bit of an update....the tablet worked fine for about a week then suddenly died.. :'( I found that if I removed the battery then reconnected it the boot process ran for a couple of seconds then it died. Each time i disconnect the battery and reconnect it it starts to boot then dies.
Any ideas anyone?
I have tried with two different batteries with the same outcome.

Nice gentle ride on the MT10 this morning...360 miles covered so far and really starting to gel with it. Backed off some front and rear preload to soften the suspension to eliminate some of that jarring, worked a treat.
Picture of the bike in it's natural habitat.....It's all about the twisties. :)
worked on my little project i got recently ,tw 125 2004 been lying up for over a year ,gas tank is rusted from the inside out so awaiting one from the uk ,,easy bike to work on tbh, really enjoyin cleaning it up ,,all parts off and sanded primed and painted with rattle cans,,,,and then went to barley cove the most south westerly point of Ireland on the fazer cause the apprilla is in the shop waiting on a new stator from the uk
:rollin , speakin of which is there room for much under the seat of the mt-10,,has it sunk in u own one yet ? :lolThere's no room under there either, managed to get a small bottle of visor spray and a cloth by the battery but the tool kit is in the kitchen, haven't got a clue where it goes or how it's going to fit but who cares....I've got cruise control you know :lol
What year and mileage is it?
.
That looks awesome, i want it.
What ever Dazza!!Sorry to disappoint :lol
Pity you didn't get washed out to sea and then i could of come down and borrowed your bike until you got back :lol
Where is the beach Dazza? It's Minster, on the Isle of Sheppey. Literally 15-20 mins from my door just over the Sheppey bridges.
Thats for sure dude ..couldnt believe how well he done to be honest ..everybody wants to learn how to drive it now :rollinThat looks awesome, i want it.

Took my great sounding 46 year old HiFi amp apart today to investigate a burning smell.
Discovered a suppressor capacitor on the mains input line had burned out :'(
It came with the Jensen Interceptor :lol
Should be common enough as it is a Rifa 22nF 275V film capacitor with 15mm lead spacing.
Will try the local electronic stores today and if that fails will order 2 off Farnell Electronics
The Amp on its own was about £110 when I bought the HiFi in 1980, it is rated at 40w rms per channel. :)
Bought my first 'V' twin :D :D
got my first batch of caverjet , after my op. :lol .No pics for this one....please! :eek

Nice to see an understated/grown up Scooby for a change. I think they are great cars that have been ruined by the image of middle aged yobs spinning their gold wheels round car parks haha
As for the tyres, I'm looking for something quieter at the minute. I had a some yokohamas put on my car not so long ago and they are horrendously noisey on the motorway 😖😖
after smashing the shit out of the gixxer in september on track (long story but got a free helicopter ride), she's alive again.
one careful owner.......and me :lol
fast group at oulton, got held in the pits at the start of the day for ages whilst the other bikes were out there. anyway eventually got waved off and shot around on my first sighting lap................no bikes.......hmmmm.
second sighting lap still no bikes..........better up the pace a bit otherwise a gixxer 1000 will come howling past. i'm now going at 8-9/10ths...............still no bikes, come whipping around druids and finally see a bike...................i'll just sit in behind him and..................shit he's touring.
i stand the bike on it's nose, nearly go over the top so let off and .............................bang.
i wake up looking up several sets of nostrils. the chopper had already landed so gawd knows how long i'd been out.
ended up in Stoke hospital, and was walking...............very gingerly i might add, within an hour. because i'd been out for a while they kept me in overnight.
got back to oulton on tues aftie and had a very slow drive home.
bike has a knackered top fairing, split straight down the middle. clock brackets aren't the shape the Harris brothers intended. front loom has some road rash, radiator on the left is now double banana, the o/s crash bung snapped in half so the bellypan and footrest took the slide. tank has man lumps dent in the rear and an elbow dent in the front.
all the hospital staff were asking me what my lottery numbers were!
How are you going to attach that to the bike? :rolleyes
don't be daft unfazed that is for the boot of his scoobie, flying fish I hear. :D:lol :lol

Perfect lovely shots -- a Street triple would of been of (forgot it was "whatever else you have got" )
Yeah! but if you have a RED Fazer you need a good pair of walking boots if you want to get anywhere fast :lol
:finger Some people can be really hurtful :'(

Oi Tommy,
At that rate you'll get renamed PieEater 2.Bet they didn't touch the sides. :lol
Sun came out in the afternoon so couldn't resist a quick blastYes me too out today and I have thought it for years that it just seems to want to "GO" more in the cold air.
I don't know if anyone else finds this but I'm sure our bikes produce more power in the cold air. Haven't got any facts to back this up but it certainly feels like it'
Cold air is denser therefore more air is sucked into each cylinder compared to warmer air therefore bigger bang!!Well, my big bang engine was banging big today :lol
was a good looking morning so decided to head west to healy pass co cork/kerry border ,need new rubber as traction control kept kicking in :lol

Yeah, does seem to be a bit of a lottery these days whether or not someone buying from you will actually turn up and go through with the sale. Oh well, at least it's not a buyer from the bay of evil, so there's some chance. And I've got a queue lined up if this one falls through, as I've underpriced it for a quick sale.
I don't have a guvnor though, so I've placed the amount of the sale price on a bet with a minuscule chance of winning :lol

Took the car for MoTYes I think they have too, has happened to me too, I sat in the waiting room and he came in and said I have a brake bulb out and do I want him to pop one in for £3.99, yes I says and the same as you I get given a pass certificate and also a fail for the brake light being out.
So midway through he calls to his partner about changing a wiper blade there and then to save me a 'fail' and trip to Halfords. Okay I go along with it.
The car passes with indicator bulb advisories and he gives me the MoT certificate...... along with refusal cert due to faulty wiper blade :eek
Not a problem but ...... :rolleyes

I've never tried sloe gin. I hate the taste of gin and sloes just suck the juice from your mouth where there are so sharp but it will be interesting to see how it transforms. We shall see.
visiting the classic bike show in stafford yesterday has renewed my interest in restoring my suzuki gt 250 x7 , when I bought the bike many many years ago the seat lock and bracket had been cut off , so todays day off was put to good use cleaning up the frame where the old bracket was welded on , fabricating a new bracket for the new lock bought on ebay and welding it to the frame , not factory perfect but iam happy with it.....

Dazza you just gotta try slow gin, it is absolutely delicious, I have some on the go with sloes from the Isle of Wight, grown on very chalky ground, just like others in here I can hardly wait to try it.
Shhhh! Don't tell but I have already tried it and it is wonderful. :lol
Here you are - sorry for the delay, I did not forget - its just that I forgot ------------- What !

But the aluminium is stiff and stable enough. It is a fuel injected one from 2010.
Here you are - sorry for the delay, I did not forget - its just that I forgot ------------- What !

Well,my annual trip to the Dragon Rally didn't quite work out as it normally does. My pal (1050 Tiger) and I left south London at 7am, the check-in destination being next to Conwy Castle, a familiar trip west on the A5. However I was quite surprised at the number of bikes heading east towards England, when we were about 50 miles from Conwy. At the Conwy MCC check-in, the rally venue was revealed to be Beddgelert, in the heart of Snowdownia ,alongside a lake.Top man
On arrival at the rally site, it was patently obvious that all the high ground camping spots were already taken. What was left was, as good as damn it, under water. After collecting our rally badge/goody bag and with 340 miles showing on the trip meter, we decided to ride home.
Light was fading and the rain fairly incessant, so we opted for the motorway, as there would be no pleasure gained from retracing our route across country. After a mind numbing slog down the M54/42/40/25, I rolled onto my drive with 614 miles on the trip, and strangely pleased that I could still put in a fair shift on a bike despite my advancing years. :lol
My new Gerbing heated gloves had a severe work out and came through with flying colours, so all in all an "eventful" day.
After the trials and tribulations of last weekend a dry breakfast run for the ST was the order of this morning. The service at The Chalet at Cowfold is excellent in the middle of winter, unlike from Easter onwards. After chowing down the healthy option, it was a quick B road whizz over to Bury Hill for coffee and a natter before an A29 blast home.

Bought this MT09, 2016, 5500 miles and just had dealer sevice, Akrapovic exhaust and Hyperpro springs front and back. Really light and nimble, should have done this a year ago.
:lol You're just a bunch of piss takers.....I like it.

Took a run up to Pateley Bridge and then onto Masham,
When I got back replaced the original crap headlight bulb with a Philips Extreme, looks a lot better.
Yeah, the floor tiles are from Costco, like you say they make garage seem a lot warmer and no more cold feet. Had mine down for over 10 years now and they need replacing. General wear and tear plus wifes pet rabbits like to chew them for some strange reason.
Last autumn I dismantled the Honda C90 Cub to treat the corrosion under the main frame tube and on the rear section under the plastic tail section. All went well and took the metal frame parts for blasting, welding, and powdercoating. All the parts stored away in Aldi flat trays.
Christmas passed ok but developed a chest infection and then on New Years Eve caught "Australian" variant of flu virus. Couldnt breathe by evening, ambulance job to QE Hospital on oxygen and then put into induced coma for a few days. Came round in critical care with tubes & wires everywhere to discover that it had been touch & go for a while. Long story short spent most of January in hospital but got home 30th having lost 5 kilos and had to "learn" to walk properly as muscles were so weak. My sisters who love me dearly were muttering about selling bikes and giving up riding. Just to say I have convalesced by completing the rebuild of "Henry"-the C90 and on Wednesday this week rode the Tracer 75 miles in our balmy Spring sunshine. Indeed, one of the consultants said he thought the motivation to ride again played a large part in my speedy recovery-so its official-motorcycling is good for your wellbeing-but we knew that anyway! My wife and I just passed the 150 mile mark for the week on our mountain bikes 😀. Good weather makes cycling a decent alternative to riding the Fazers !!No, sorry, just don’t get that! :lol

Shit, why do photos rotate when I post them :'(
They are certainly not alone. I cycled 75 miles in the Welsh hills yesterday. Today and tomorrow I am out on the Fazers. Thursday, another 60 -80 miles cycling. I have always combined the two since the late 60's. I had a BSA Sunbeam 250 to which my father attached angle iron so that I could carry my bicycle to races. Much later I used my XJ600 to carry my bikes. I'm 66 years old still cycle 10000 miles a year and love riding on two wheels, motorbikes and bicycles.
Having a garage clearout and found my honda cb 400/4 supersport , took it out of the garage washed it and put it in the shed , thats the furthest its travelled in many many years..........
Just a quick hello from Elounda, Crete. Been here for a few days, lots of great food and and Raki to drink (local spirit). You need to piss on jelly fish stings.
We were swimming off some rocks in crystle clear warm water and the Mrs got stung by a jelly fish, it was really lucky cos it could have been me. Seriously though though she was struggling for about 8 hours with a rash on her butt that she said wss like a searing burn. Ouch! it calmed down but still looks very sore, she says it does not hurt at all now, but I am not convinced. If it was me I would be milking it for sympathy.
I know this post is worthless without pics lol !
I would be careful fitting 17" wheels as the steering geometry will be way out as front is a 16 and rear an 18. lower at front and higher at back :eek making front higher and back lower....both going in opposite directions. I'm sure you have a plan!

Nice, but the best looking bit is the Z650 tail unit with 2/4 seat. But then, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Z650 fan :D
The pipes look good there too.
If i had the money to be buying older bikes, I'd be wanting to do similar mods. Mostly contemporary kind of things from their day, plus handling, and maybe a little tuning.
My ultimate project would have been a Z650 with 750 barrels taken out to 810. A chap who used to work at a local bike dealer had this done to his, and it's something that I've wanted to do for donkey's years. Improve handling (I've seen one with RGV front and rear ends) and chassis strength, but retaining the standard look as far as bodywork/lines go. Alas, I never had either the money or skill to do such a thing.
This is my latest project.....Now ready for mot
I fitted new mirrors and levers to my tuono :)

Agree totally on the Z 650 tailpiece - took an age to find the right tank shape to go with it, then had to redo all the seat mountings ! But, very happy with the result. Classic and Motorcycle Mechanics did a little feature on it in 2002, very proud of what was achieved at a young age.
Is that 70ish mph or years :lol . Old guys rock :thumbup .
Changed a CV joint on the car.
Bastard youtube videos give the impression it’s a 10 minute job… well, I knew that wasn’t going to be the case ‘cos it takes me that long to get the car jacked up to my satisfaction, but it was a 4 hour of fight with corroded bolts, immovable nuts, retaining clips that wouldn’t budge, a buggered thread on the new stub axle and a couple of hundred ml of moly grease, half of which ended up over my hands, tools and the brake disc.
Finished just as daylight faded, haven’t had time to test drive it yet.. hopefully the weird clunking noises have now gone, but next time I’ll just pay someone else to do the job. The novelty of DIY on cars is wearing off now.
I had a Total Knee Replacement. Anyone wanna see the pics? :eek

I lowered the rear on the S2 fazer by 30mm, to suit my stature. Did the same at the front through the forks, I certainly feel it turns in quicker than it previously did. Im not sure so Id want to be applying front brake while leant over though

I upgraded my FAC .20 calibre rapid seven which was shooting at 38ft/lb to .25 calibre (24" polygonal LW barrel) which is now punting out 33 grain slugs at 60ft/lb. and with a custom built moderator is unbelievably quite, both at the indoor (old railway tunnel) club range in Monmouth and sniping rats down on the farm permission from 100 yrds away. I'm a bit of a wuss.. actually don't like killing things (but always loved shooting)so only shoot vermin and targets, but do love the long range stuff.
two very different old bikes (they are both 04s), but both very good at what they do..

The big green shed I built for my partners brother, then we all fell out and now im in the container while it sits empty.Hold it - this gets weirder. Why was he living in a green shed (no wonder you fell out ) and why do you now live in a shipping container.
I could tell you. But then i'd have to kill myself....(is that right?) :lol:rollin
its like most things bike related mate. the glory days are gone im afraid. That's why bikes like minty fjrs stir the blood; they take you back to those crazy times, I'd forgotten about the peages being open..yeah that was summat, all those bikes and noise heading back en masse. the only downside I remember is blokes getting bits (calipers ferrchrist sake!!) getting nicked off their bikes if they camped at the circuit.
Took the FJ 1200 out for a run around Souh Leics & Northants this afternoon, while the sun shone. Put a bottle of Forte Moto Power 1 in the tank when I filled up and put another 15 miles on it to run some through. Hopefully it helps keep the dreaded fuel-gunge from forming in the carbs over the quiet winter months !! I'll be taking the Fazer's out over the next week or so and doing the same thing when I fill them up too.
Couldn't resist taking some pics of the old girl in the sun though :lol :lol .

Might have to buy it a cake.
Woke the Speed Triple up from its summer and autumn slumber in preparation for its winter duty. Cleaned and lubed the chain, pumped up the tyres, gave the button a prod and it burst into life first go. After a warm up, the oil got dropped and replaced with a sumpful of Motul's finest.
Yesterday was the London to Brighton veteran car run, so that was an opportunity for a day out to blast any cobwebs away. I've had it since new in April '94, so it'll be 25 next year. Might have to buy it a cake.
It was a toss up back in the day whether to go for an FJ or a Pan, the shaft drive clinched it. That is one lovely bike mate. :thumbup :thumbup .at the moment I'm painting a load of Ercol furniture,we couldn't afford a new dining room suite so we decided to paint everything in 2 colours and then flat it a bit so it looks like that shabby chic, only done one and a half chairs at the moment and it don't half take some time!,lot cheaper than a new one though, should be finished by Christmas I hope. :rolleyesWe need a picture of shabby chic
Might have to buy it a cake.Lovely bike. I've also got an owned since new 2004 one that's only 15 years old next year. Might buy it a cupcake :)

Still awaiting the Shabby Chic photos Coffee.
Here is my latest bit of handy work, wife was complaining about my skid lids being left about the house. I was fed up with my great nephews coming into the house and using them as Buzz bloody Lightyear helmets dropping them, scratching them and cracking the visor on my LS2 Convert, £27 quid for a replacement visor. :'(
Looked in lots of places including the Bay trying to find a chest that would take the 3 Buckets, some just two small other much to big, so down to B&Q for some pine and out with the tools that have not seen much light since I retired from the building trade, good to know I still have the skills.
Buckets now out of sight, safe from grubby hands, Mrs stopped complaining (Well, about that anyway) can be used to sit on with a couple of cushions and used as a coffee table as well. Jobs-a-good-un.
Hi coffee....interesting project , are you sure these are ERCOL chairs ? Ive not seen those before and the design dos'nt look ERCOL ish.......
.
I hope that you are telling me you have removed that horrible white paint to revel a beautiful example of English Elm carpentry.
Nice bit of handiwork Tommy :thumbup
I don't know whether to distress these a bit more,I'll have to see.
Fifteen, just a teenager then . It'll either want a new phone or a games console
That's a nice collection of bikes :) Like me, 3 is just the right number to stop you getting bored.
That's a nice collection of bikes :) Like me, 3 is just the right number to stop you getting bored.lol yeah mate, three is the magic number alright. As Nick says, and you know same as me no doubt, running em don't come easy, not if you want to keep them all tickety boo, but personally I aint got much else I care about aside from my dog/kids/grandkids, so I don't mind they keep me poor.
ah these things all work out, one way or another bud. I remember two years ago when my old lab died, I would have given every bike ive ever owned for another few days with him. its all just stuff really, innit. Hard times, and good times, come and go. just gotta roll with
Well I have come to a decision.
The Honda C90 that I completely renovated last winter is on eBay, it has to go as I want another project for this winter.
Shall be sorry to see it go in some ways, but needs must, it's either that or the Fazer FZS600 and that might happen sooner than I want, bad arthritis in my wrists.
ho hum!
Im sure that they keep breathing whilst in hibernation, how much air is there in a fridge when the door is shut. There's only one way to find out. You'll have to get in and tell us :lol
Hmmm. Not so sure about the fridge. We had two, but one passed away 5 years ago. We think he was about 80 years old. Father in law found him in the early 50s while out dog walking. He moved to our house when me and the wife moved in 1986. Lovely old fella. Still got the other one, hes been with us 12 years now, found in church yard, unable to trace any owner, guess hes about 60. Ive called them both "he" but the truth is we never know/knew what sex they are, I honestly think its more likely they're both female, but its irrelevant really as we dont dress them up! They overwinter in the garage, in a box lined with cardboard and packed with hay, from late november till early/late March, depends on the weather to an extent
blimey! ive learnt something new today mate!Yeah it is not an ordinary household type fridge it’s half size and if you look at the pic of the fridge that I posted you can see a circular grill in the back, there is a fan in the fridge that blows cold air in at the set temperature so that there is a change of air going on most of the time. (A bit like the air con in your car) Tortoises heart rate is very very slow and so it their breathing so they need very little air, when in hibernation these function slow down much slower than normal. That very slow heart rate and breathing is why they live so long compared with something like a cat that has a very fast metabolism, that’s why the family moggies usually shuffle off this mortal coil after about 17 years or so. If your lucky, and the old tortoise goes on for another hundred years.

Well I'll be buggered..like others I've learnt something and thought you were taking the piss.
So do you prep them for it or just pick them up whilst they're chomping on lettuce, straight in a box and slam them in the fridge ?? I'd shit myself if that happened to me during dinner.
You just have to keep an eye on them. Late summer/early autumn they start to slow down as the temperature cools, so they start to eat less and less. They need to have no crap in the bowels as this rots during hibernation and can cause them problems. Once theyve not eaten for a while, its safe to hibernate them. Its important to not let them be exposed to frost as tis can destroy thier eyes. They are hardy little buggers. And Tommy, in 30 years time youll need a bigger fridge, mines over 5 kilos now
Oh the video will be of the tortoises not me :lol :rollin :rollin :rollin :eekThank god for that :rollin :rollin

Contrary to popular belief tortoise can not swim so bath water needs to be only a few inches deep.
Thanks Mr Red. One of those events you look forward to going to, then say "never again" when you've been, but promptly book a ticket as soon as they go on sale the following year.
Dopey hats are almost compulsory by the way.

Fitted a pair of cnc mirror extenders to my Triumph Speed Four. 5 minute job and £8 for the extenders I can now see behind me not my shoulders, and the nice policeman trying to stop me to tell me I'm going a little to quickly for his liking. (yes I did stop and received a right royal bo**ocking words of advice but nothing else)Not just the Fazers that suffer from elbow view mirrors then
What a great day to have been out on a bike today. Left home around 07:15, heated gloves cranked up to level 3, and after a quick petrol stop, gunned the old Trumpet over to Epsom Downs for the Pioneer Run, meeting up with 2 pals on the way.
The first bikes were away at 8am. Sammy Miller looked as sprightly as ever. Henry Cole and his sidekick were also there, enjoying the occasion. Watched most of the entrants leave, then whizzed off to The Chalet for a quick coffee and a chat, the carpark was heaving. God knows how long people waited for their food order, the wait is bad enough on normal Sundays.
Back on the bikes and over the South Downs, along Brighton seafront, and up to our favourite caff overlooking the marina.
With bellies full, we headed west to Bognor to drop in on a pal for a chinwag. By now the traffic had really died down, so plenty of high jinx were the order of the late afternoon/evening, rolling on to the drive just over twelve hours after leaving. It'll be MOT time for the ST this week, hopefully she'll get a clean bill of health ready for her 25th birthday.
Sorry Mr.Red,
The last 4 times I've tried to post a pic I just get an error message, so didn't bother taking any yesterday. Thought I had the the pic posting nailed, but obviously not. :'(
The error message is http 500, whatever that is.
First ride on my MT09 since being rammed off it on a roundabout by a blind bitch in a Range Rover:lol
Would have been back on bike sooner but after my knee injury was sorted
my heart decided not to work like it should for a bit,
then broke my right ankle when I fell whilst walking dog in the woods.
Then a grand piano fell on my head
Won't be asking slappy for this weeks lottery numbers, that's for sure. :lol .He doesn't even sound safe to stand next to :eek
Glad you're all fixed up now dude and back on two wheels :thumbup . What blue haze is on your short list.
First ride on my MT09 since being rammed off it on a roundabout by a blind bitch in a Range Rover back in October 2018.
It was declared a category N write off which was a joke. Bought the salvage for £795 and spent less than £500 putting it right.
The assessor put that the petrol tank wanted replacing but it was just a scuff from my boot, came off with a wet cloth, no dents or scratches, also said it wanted a complete replacement exhaust but it was just a few scratches on the cover, got an unmarked one off ebay for £25.
Secondhand mirrors, both rider footrest assemblies, bar ends, a couple of indicators all in very good condition and that was it. Replaced the clutch and brake levers with spares that I still had left from my FZ1s, ( they are exactly the same ).
Mot and a good checkover by Roseanne at Leeds Motorcycle MOT centre , would recommend her to anyone, and an oil change andcwas good to go.
Bike looks and goes as good as it did before the ' incident ", and some compensation money sat in the bank earmarked for an old Japanese two stroke to relive my youth on 😊

Managed to fight the headers off my Speed Triple and dropped them off today with the exhaust guy, who's going to make new flanges and repair the holed section. New studs, nuts and gaskets ordered, so just waiting for the stud extractor I ordered, to arrive which won't be until after the weekend. Then hopefully remove the 2 studs that wouldn't come out with a bolt remover. Might try the Harpic trick to clean up the rest of the system.

Thanks guys, sometimes life just gives you lemons.Won't be asking slappy for this weeks lottery numbers, that's for sure. :lol .
Glad you're all fixed up now dude and back on two wheels :thumbup . What blue haze is on your short list.
Would like to get a 1974 RD250 in blue, just like I had when I was 17. Failing that a YDS7 in gold , a mate had one and I always liked it.
Then grow my hair back and lose 3 stone.

We have a paddock bike :)Oooooh, posh :) . Have a great weekend.
Yeah the Harpic 10x didn't do a bad job considering the system had been on there over 20 years.I love this trick for cleaning exhausts, wish I had learned about its years ago.
Rode the ZZR600 from the midlands to near Ghent in Belgium, Dover to Dunkirk ferry. Came back next day. 580 miles over the 2 days.
Oh, and it was 36 degrees as well!

It certainly is.My daughter turned 16 and I wanted to do something memorable with her so....... :D
It's an awesome feeling isnt it. I did it in the states last year... hell of a rush
Finally, after a couple of issues with the guy selling it in the States, then it being held in customs until I paid an extra £50, the Mustang seat for the Virago 1100 has landed.
It's in really good nick considering its age and after a good scrub with vinyl cleaner and then a deep polish, it's come up a treat!!
Hope the following link to my Google Drive works!!!

Took the Harley FXDWG Evo to Steel Horse near Abergavenny to meet up with Paul (Ogri48) on his Fat Boy Evo.probably one of the last meets we will have on the Evos til spring mate, berluddy good job we got the thous too. That 1340 of yours sounds incredibly sweet for a 25 year old lump. And like you, I wouldn't dream of swapping for any Harley made after about 1999. Looking forward to the show buddy :) :)
Really good turnout in the sunshine and fab to catch up with my good mate Paul.

Apparently there is sensor monitoring the oil quality and when it deteriorates to a set level, the light comes on and its time to change the oil
Gave the calipers on the Triumph a quick clean and service. Wired in the necessary bits and pieces for my heated gloves and satnav. Doing the M25 Ring of Red tomorrow.

I'm intrigued as to how that works. A new one to me.
She’s a minter!
Looking good Ogri. Nice work. :) And the twin silencer XJR only ever looks right with the OE cans. :thumbup

im having it burnt and buried with me, in the faint hope that the eygptians were right, and you do get to take your favourite shit into the afterlife with you... ;)Errr - not if you burn it you wont. You will have to mummify it. Maybe lower it into a vat of ACF 50.

First time having one of these in my garage to be sorted
and yes, that vice (much like any poor cow who has been my partner for any length of time), has been through an awful lot...Yeah, it looks like it's got more than its fair share of stories to tell :lol .
With my usual precision and enviable builders 'fingers like pigs tits', I delicately 'fine tuned' my xjr shim bucket retaining tool with a vice, foccing grut big hammer and file, so I could see how the land lies with regards to fitted shim sizes, afore I check the clearances. . S'all goodWhat was wrong with them that you had to "fine tune" them?
Theres nothing that can't do with fine tuning with a 7lb sledge hammer, well not in the building game so we tend to follow that rule with anything else, ain't that right ogriWith my usual precision and enviable builders 'fingers like pigs tits', I delicately 'fine tuned' my xjr shim bucket retaining tool with a vice, foccing grut big hammer and file, so I could see how the land lies with regards to fitted shim sizes, afore I check the clearances. . No fair weather rider you ay? :thumbup :thumbup Fair play to you,I wouldn't want to know about that in the winter, never seen the attraction with the Dragon and Elephant rallies,I suppose you've got to experience them. ;)I get it. Why the hell would you want to camp in a muddy field in February somewhere in Snowdonia. I've always viewed the Dragon as a poor mans Elephant, which I'd planned to do with my best pal, who unfortunately passed away before we could get to do it. The Dragon is always around this past weekend which is historically the worst weather period in the Snowdonia area.
X7?That, or an X5?
Red , there's a house near my work that has three x7s in the porch , I could ask him if he wants rid of them , one complete bike one in bits .
yup...well done spotters, an X7.........bought the engine parts on ebay and seller offered me the frame....bit of a risk as no logbook, frame number is there so might apply for a logbook at DVLA and see what happens....

Just be aware that I’ve tried to do this before and they won’t issue a log book without the registration. The good news you can sometimes get access to an online database where VIN numbers are matched to the registration. And if you can get the registration you can apply for a log book.
good write up on bennetts website... ;)
You'll have heard of "a whiter shade of pale" well I'm a greener shade of green .Cheers bud. Not bought a bike for 16 years, so I figured I could justify splashing ooot a wee bit.

BMW R1200 / R1200GS CANbus System – What BMW say…
On-board network – CAN-bus technology: With fewer cables than ever, the new on-board network ensures a high standard of reliability plus an even wider range of functions. The single-wire system transmits all relevant data via one single wire to the respective control units. Physically, it is a double-wire system with CAN-bus (Controller Area Network) technology consistently interconnecting all control units and the central vehicle electronics (CVE) to form a permanent data network – the various units exchanging data with each other. Apart from simplifying the main wiring harness it also allows efficient, comprehensive diagnosis of all vehicle functions.
A further advantage is that the system no longer requires conventional fuses. CAN-bus technology automatically switches off the suspect component – where possible – and checks whether the function is still defective when the rider again starts the motorcycle. The network also serves to feed all data to the cockpit display on the info-flat-screen. To easily adapt and integrate electronic accessories into the on-board network, there is a plug for special equipment.
I sincerely hope it never gives you any problems, you'll need deep pocketsSame for everything these days. Under warranty for the first three years anyway.
Does it have the gizmos that seem to be on most modern bikes these days? Cornering ABS/launch control/antiwheelie/quickshifter/auto blipper/riding modes/ ya ya ya etc etc. I seem to recall reading a while ago that some of these high end machines are in contact with the manufacturers via the control systemFly by wire throttle.
I seem to recall reading a while ago that some of these high end machines are in contact with the manufacturers via the control systemYeah it’s a got a tracker. You can go for optional emergency call for 300 quid (I didn't). If you chuck it down the road it will automatically call you an ambulance (well it’ll contact the BMW control centre and if you don’t respond they will initiate an emergency response).
I've got cruise control on my Tiger. Only used for dull motorway miles when I want to scratch my nose. When they started introducing average speeds zones well in my last car – a VW Bora 2.0S that I had for just over ten years – I found it quite stressful, you can’t relax. And one average speed zone now runs for 140 miles from Bridge of Allan to Inverness. Bu with cruise control in the Yeti it doesn’t really bother me one bit.
Started making a Portable climbing wall in the shed for my son and myself. All the T Nuts in now to start the frame Will keep us going until the climbing wall reopens and we can go back on the cliffs again. :) Bikes staying in the garage 😥

Ignition switch on my Triumph has progressively got iffy over the winter. Have tried cleaning out with WD40 and then lubing it, but is hit and miss whether it will physically switch from off to on. Thought I'd get the switch off for a closer look. What a ball acheJust a thought. Now it couldn’t be similar to old Yamaha ignition switch. What I have to do with the old Fazer thou it put the key in, then pull it back at a slight angle and the ignition switches on and back off just fine - nae bother. If you put the key in and just try to turn it (as I used to do when it was new), no matter how hard you try to turn it it will not budge. Just seems to be the way it wears.
Clutch cable on my Speed Triple is frayed, so started to work out how to fit the replacement.
Well they couldn't have routed it more complicated and tightly if they'd tried. Looks like most of the bike has to come apart to fit it :eek
You can most times (if it's not too late) secure the new cable outer to the old and pull it through still a faff but better than stripping.I thought about that, but unfortunately the bottom end of the cable has a hard metal sleeve at an angle, and I'm not sure it would drag through without catching.

Oh! man ! you could be in the shit there, they might think you're trying it on :eek I really hope you get a result,is it a return system where they refurb your old one?

I know that's the idea of them but it's almost criminal to see a new shiney bike get that way so early in it's life 😅Cheers Dude.
Just to know it's never gonna be 100% clean again.
On the plus side theres something to be said about the joy of cleaning your bike

In order to remove the top yoke the bottom one is supposed to be removed first as there are interlocking lugs on the frame and ignition switch. Have dropped the forks and headlamp assembly. Hoping if I remove the tank tomorrow, I can rotate the top yoke sufficiently to disengage it from the lug on the frame.
Thanks darrsi, but no worries, it kept me occupied for a few days. I must admit, I did expect some improvement after a good flushing with WD, but that wasn’t the case. The paraffin soak seemed to sort it out, but as you say, the contact cleaner would have done the trick with a lot less drama. :)
It was time for the winter jacket yesterday. I thought it might have been overkill, but by the time we got to the breakfast stop, my two companions were decidedly cold. Spent much of the morning in Sussex yesterday, breakfasting at The Roedean, before some cross country to the A22 at Halland, then the Ashdown Forest back into Kent and then home. Last weeks thrash on the Triumph loosened up the headlamp bolts and broke the speedo cable. The new cable was certainly still working as I rolled on to the drive with 180 miles on the trip, and just in time for MotoGP. An enjoyable morning without a doubt.I have the same issues because I don't ride all the time and there can be big gaps in my riding I only remember the last time I went out and haven't had the slower process of adding layers.

Nice BM but the top box looks massive on the bike.
Taxed the Sprint tonight and I'm on holiday for the next week, hopefully get a few miles in running some errands. :lol :lol
Sad day today. Funeral of one of my riding buddies. Lost him to big C. A good turn out of bikes, mainly proper 60's cafe racers. Afterwards had a rip up to Rykas to chat over happier times spent with our pal. "Slow Down" by Larry Williams, was the chosen track as we exited the chapel. A fitting tribute as he nearly always left us for dust. RIP Tony.
the FZS fazer 600 at least. When on the center stand there is hardly any weight on the front wheel.
I had a nice run up around the Derbyshire Dales this pm, likely to be my last time on the fazer for a few weeks, so when I got back home, just gave it a quick wipe down, fasteners check etc, then parked it up with both tyres of the deck.

Yep, on the centre sand, jack under the headers. Looking to get out for a spin later this week, if it stops pissing down, as the surgery is healing up ok. Need to get som etime on the bike, I've a evening track session coming up on the 9th June
Check your MOT before filing it away.
Took number one car in yesterday. It's done just over 20,000 miles, but they'd accidently entered it as 200,000 :eek .
Ah, what's 180,000 miles between friends? :D
Uncorrected, about 8 grand off the resale value of my motor :'(
It was only on about 16,000 last time. You don't think they might wonder why it suddenly shot up 184,000 miles during lockdown? :lol
Can you drink a pint of Sherry ride the bike???:lol Harvey’s, a well known Sussex brewery, if you’re from the south.
Then went the long way to Whiteways(Bury Hill), where the landowners have just introduced paid parking. No one seemed sure if this included bikes or not, but paid up just to be on the safe side.According to whiteways facebook page parking charges for bikes were dropped 31st Jan, the day after you posted this 😆
Brings back childhood memories of a two week school trip camping to Anglesey. Pissed down every single day. There's one to go with the childhood memories :lol
Alkylate fuel--- had to google it. I guess you wont be putting E10 in anytime soon :D
Halfords do a cheap bulb swap, but I think you need to buy the bulbs from them
I assume you didn't get an owners instruction book with the car? They usually show you how to change bulbs. Otherwise why not try you tube? I have always found it useful for "how to" advice.. Good luck!
What car is it?
What car is it?
2012 Skoda Fabia Mark 2 HTP
For a number of cars you need to take off the front bumper, in order get at and change a bulb :rolleyes
It was MOT day last Friday for the Speed Triple, passing with no advisories fortunately. She’ll be able to celebrate her 30th birthday at the weekend with a whizz down to Whitstable, providing the weather plays ball.8)
