Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Tyres (that old chestnut)

So, without wanting something that last forever and a day, which tyres for my 07 plate FZ1, all the reviews I have seen are from years back, which are the real sticky bastards.

WallaceThanks for the reply, I did do that with the multimeter on DC volts. I got a reading of -3.2 v and I wasn't sure of what that would relate to. I did read somewhere that the reading sgould show zero, what do you say, maybe I have the meter on the wrong setting.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / New battery goes flat FZ1n

I put a new battery on my bike FZ1 every year, and if I don't keep it on the optimiser, it flattens within a week, it is now un rideable really for fear of getting caught out. I think there is a bad earth or a leak to earth, but recently I have seen a lot of stuff with the Alternator/generator falling to bits, does anyone have a clue as to what it might be. Thanks guys

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / converting FZ1S to Naked FZ1N
« on: 23 September 2020, 03:18:58 pm »
Hi Guys
Does anyone have any useful advice on changing from my FZ1S with top half fairing to a Naked single headlight, I have seen the kits on ebay and was thinking of doing it, I could always revert back? I think, what puzzles me is my S has 2 headlamps and the N only one, so what happens to the spare bulb and holder.

OK Guys thanks for the comments ah ah, and yes the link pipe was the fuc**ng right way round..eventually I got the sod fitted, not without some real mucking around. the link pipe was a total piss fit over the Yamaha pipes, so had to use a bandage to fill in the space, and for the can to clear the swing arm I had to barely push the link onto the Yamaha pipe (30-35mm) it ended up that the carbon can was 1mm clear of the swing arm, which I thought was pretty close. It seems ok, and i have done about 150 miles this weekend with it, the sound is superb, and I think it pulls better with this on. I will post any further info. Thanks for all your "comments" ah ah

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Leo Vince slip on
« on: 10 March 2016, 05:35:16 pm »
Hi Guys
Was wondering if anyone could throw some light on this, I have a 2007 FZ1 and I just purchased a Leo Vince carbon slip on silencer, I took the standard Yamaha one off, together with the power valve cables (pushed them back under seat) the distributor told me that the short link pipe would simply slide over the existing header pipe without any exhaust packing ring...well it don't, there must be 2mm at least gap, which could never be clamped.

I pressed on anyway, and soon found that whichever way I twisted the can and it's link pipe the can would foul the swing arm, I pulled the link right to it's extreme on the header pipes end, and it still looked very suspiciously close to the swing arm, then I attempted to fit the carbon strap to see if this at least did fit. I found that if I followed the instructions and put all the spacers on as described, the long bolt was not even long enough to pass through into the original rubber mount hole in the rear passenger footrest hanger, and if I did use a longer bolt, I'm thinking that the link pipe joint to original would be strained dramatically.

Have I purchased a fucking bag of shit or can anyone assist with some ideas. Thanks in advance Guys...

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Touring Luggage
« on: 03 February 2016, 04:56:14 pm »
Hi

This is my first post on here, so hi there Guys. I have purchased a 2007 Fazer 100o ABS, which I am intending using for a few trips in Europe. The range of Luggage available is really good nowadays, but I thought I would ask to see what others have used and recommend, I'm not going for hard cases, so am looking at decent soft options, and I will need some quite large ones. I notice that GIVI do a sort of steady bar which keeps the luggage away from the wheel etc too.

I have a pretty decent Oxford tail pack, which I think will do for me, and I want a tank top bag (should I opt for the ones with the filler cap fixing ????

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
