Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Rear shock ? ....sorry!
« on: 12 December 2021, 08:44:02 am »
Hi All,

so rode the Fazer 1000 gen1 round the block and the front forks are leaking so 1st question whats the preferred springs for road riding(progressive with 7.5 oil?)  and 2nd question is the R6 08 on rear shock a straight swap and does that include 2017 to present R6 rear shock ?

i did read a lot on here so i think i have answered my own question but if someone could confirm that would be great and at least its not a which oil/tyres question  :rollin :rollin

Hi All,

so its been awhile since I've been on here after i sold the Fazer 600 and brought an R1 i swiftly named Triggers Broom  :) , had it a couple of years, then got a R1 5vy which i still have.

Had several bikes to commute on (scooters 125 ,AJS Cadwell 125, Xmax 300,) but recent thought Fazer 1000 Gen 1, so i brought a bit of a donkey in the looks dept (badly painted wheels /engine/ rusty frame but only surface) but 2 previous owners and 34k miles.

it has a few issues.. no mot, no neutral light, right indicators/ hazards don't always work but the main concern is its clunky from 1st to 2nd, i haven't ridden it yet but is this normal , seem to remember my 5JJ was the same.

i will ask these questions in the Fazer 1000 section as well or feel free to move this whole thread there. :rollin :rollin

The headlights on an R1 4xv,5jj and 5pw 1998-2003 (exhaust up the side models) have 1 headlight unit consisting of a left and right H4 hi/ lo beam so a pair would be the whole unit as its a single unit, but the R1 5VY ( underseat model) has 2 separate light units each unit has two H7 lamps fitted ( the high beam one looks like a projector light) so four lights, two left and two right ,  i hope that has made everything clear as mud as i even confused myself writing that  :rolleyes :)

If the black base is plastic it should lever off but use a electrically insulated screwdriver and isolate the light first  :eek :eek :rollin
Mark :)

That's no good is it!?! How can you see what to do without having the light on.  :lol

Hahahaha i hadn't thought of that :rollin :rollin

Thanks for the reply , he had a huge accident in 2001 on a fazer 1000 and nearly lost his leg, he still uses a stick now and brought this a few years ago but hasnt had the confidence and strength to ride it, i did tell him to wait until the summer well april may time and i would get it running and moted ( it does run ), i had the same bike in yellow/black but it hurt my knees more than the R1 does but i do miss the Fazer  :lol

The other bike is/was a ZXR400 i rebuilt for my son awhile ago  ;)

Thanks Mark

For Sale & Wanted / FZS 600 Fazer Foxeye
« on: 16 December 2017, 02:33:02 pm »
Hi all,

My brother is selling his Fazer 600 foxeye, just over 4000 miles from new ( its not moted at present GN03 MHZ you can check the mot history on line), light blue, standard except Venom end can and low seat ( have standard can and seat) , i Think Rich ( my brother) has done less than 300 miles since he brought it in about 2013 ,every year Rich had the bike collected by MOTT Bike shop, moted, drained and cleaned the carbs etc then delivered back to him and then it sat in his garage for another year.
I would think it needs the battery charging and the carbs cleaning (again) but i will check with Rich

If you're looking for a low mileage Fazer this is it :D

The bike is in basingstoke Hampshire i haven't got any recent pics but the bike is garaged.

Now for the price  :rolleyes   I know its not the height of summer but a bike like this doesn't come up very often  ;)  so please tell me if i am way off on the price but i was thinking about £2500 ??

Your thoughts and input would be greatly recieved.

Thanks Mark 07731679927

I sold my Fazer 600 a long time ago and use and R1 all year round ( if its snowing DT50MX :rollin ) still come on here as its a great forum  :D
Mark :)

I replaced the exup on both of my R1s (5jj carbs) and (5pw injection) with race Hindle headers , the 5jj gave more power through out the rev range 73 torque and 132 bhp with exup to 79 torque and 144 bhp with Hindle headers and about 1 hour dyno time,  i havnt dynoed the 5pw yet, i think if you want to remove the exup i would  fit either race headers or wire it open, i know its a Fazer not an R1 but there isn't that much difference ;) ;) ;)

Hi Nick,

if its the same as the R1 color its called:

Mat Black Metallic #2 (MBL2) Frame Color http://www.colorrite.comMark

49
Looks like a yzf 750 front end as the R1s don't have the recess above the calipers  ;)

Nice TRX, loved mine , just make sure you change the emulsion tubes in the carbs if its done over 12,000 miles, had 80bhp at the back wheel on mine :D

Mark :)

Calipers are 4xv or 5jj as 5pws have gold spot fitted ;)
