Bar end weights
« on: 31 January 2012, 07:15:14 pm »
Hi all.I'm new to this forum so please bear with me. Anyone know how to get the bar end weights off? I've tried pushing, pulling and even a heat gun on what looks like glue inside. Only thing this did was to melt the end of the throttle rubber (OOPS). Any thoughts? Thanks.

What bike have you got?

The FZS600 has allen key bolts so all you need is to stick an allen key in there and unscrew? Think you need 8mm

why dont you throw up a picture of how it looks - ive replaced my bar end weights and also the grips but dont really know what you are referring to.

I asked a question similar to this a while back because I want to fill my bars with expandable foam to stem the buzzing, apparently if you peal back the grips, there are 2 clips that you need to depress to remove the internal bit that the bar ends screw into.  I've not tried it myself yet because I don't want to pull my heated grips off and brake them, they are stuck fast to the bars.

If you get those inserts out can I have on please?  :D   Got rid of the bar end mirrors when I put the faring back on (before I even rode it) and got no weights as one side is missing the thing to screw it into.
