Bollocks. The Fazers fine for two up work spend what you would "upgrading" to a VFR on the suspension.

Oh, too late never mind.

suspensions not the issues, after more torque.

Teach your partner to ride. Get her through her test. Then get her a fazer of her own. Sorted lol

This last suggestion is definitely the way forward.

just do it soon before the stupid new licence regulations come next year!

know your limitations

I had a VFR 800 (58 plate, 18000 miles) for a fortnight this month.
Take it from me, if you want torque or EVEN more importantly USEABLE torque, prepare for a massive disappointment.
Talk about "never meet your heroes". I'd lusted after a Viffer since passing my test.
In my eyes, it was three times better looking than my Fazer, nice dash layout with useful info, Honda badge, yadda yadda yadda but it was way out of my budget.
I'd bought my 2002 Fazer 1000 from a Honda main dealer and it had to go back for an EXUP strip down (a story for another day).
Anyway, imagine my delight when they said I could use their VFR as a courtesy bike for as long as the job takes.
No exaggeration, within 50 YARDS I knew I would hate it.
Horrible knees up, lean on your wrists riding position. The bike was also not as tall as my Fazer but my feet were no better planted on the ground. This is because it is fat like a fat thing. The last time I'd had my legs that wide apart to sit on anything it was a rodeo bull in Faliraki. Also due to the thickness (or lack of) of the VFR's seat, I can confirm the bull was more comfortable. Thinking about it, a real bull would be more comfortable.
The screen was a joke for turbulence. I know you can get aftermarket but considering the angle of the slot where it sits in the fairing I would imagine it will be a fugly one to make touring anything other than an effort (I'm 5'11" by the way).
Then there's the engine... believe me, if you want it to go it can really go....fast but my god do you have to work it. NOTHING and I mean nothing of any consequence happens until 4k rpm, then it livens up. The model I rode had the two to four valve issue around 7k rpm where the delay in power is nothing short of a joke (how so many thousands made it out of the factory like this I don't know)
I didn't actually know of this issue, I just accelerated and thought WTF is this?! 35 miles later, got home, sore, aching and thoroughly pissed off and googled "VFR acceleration problem" and there was no shortage of info.
The problem was apparently sorted on 2006 onwards. Either I had an old model or the problem is still there.
As for useable power lower down the revs, if you are in 5th or 6th and doing say 50mph and you want to go urgently, prepare to press down your left foot two notches because nothing will happen.
If you're in 4th doing around 30 and the road opens up, nothing. Mini- roundabout in 2nd doing 10-15 mph and want to pull away smoothly? Guess what? Nothing.
Now I'm fat, but I ain't the size of two people and I reckon this bike, two up, may have you ruing your decision.
I know these things are seriously rated by many their owners on lots of forums and you see their holiday snaps showing them all over Europe, so maybe I'm missing something.
There is also the possibility that they've spent so much money acquiring one, they try VERY hard indeed to justify their decision, who knows?
All I know is that when the dealer called, 2 weeks and 800 miles later, to say my 6 year older, 10k miles higher and £4k cheaper Fazer was finally fixed, I was like a kid on Christmas morning, I could have honestly have kissed it.
I strongly recommend you take a VFR for an extended TWO UP test ride. By extended, I mean a day at least.
Finally, if you ride the VFR in any manner other than like a Christian, you will become very bored, very quickly looking at petrol station forecourts. It could drink George Best and Oliver Reed under the table  :lol
The fact that you can, doesn't always mean you should.

I NEVER watch Emergency Bikers for the emergencies...
