Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Clocks Illumination
« on: 26 June 2020, 06:52:12 am »
Hi all,

I finally got around to replacing the lamps in the clocks.

I found these on fleabay:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/T5-286-Led-White-Dashboard-0-4w-1-Bulbs-5050-Speedo-Wedge-Xenon-HID-Bulb-Light/372683677781?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=641481581024&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Red, amber, green and white available.

I used green for the general illumination and indicators, amber for the fuel, red for oil. All with no issue.

The intensity is fine for the general illumination and perfect for the indicators. The neutral lamp may be a bit on the bright side at night but I'll wait to see how I get on with it. A little rub with some crocus paper on the plastic lens of the LED would probably be sufficient as a diffuser if needed.

A dab of Evo-stick for the rubber strips after assembly.

Jobs a good un!  :D

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Speedohealer v4
« on: 27 March 2020, 06:57:18 pm »
Just found one under my seat?  Never heard of it before. I've done a quick Google and found the website but juts keep saying about correcting the speedo? I don't know why it wouldn't be right anyway? Does it mean I might not have stock gearing?
Are they any good? Or shall I get rid of it?

I am on my second Fazer 1000, both had\have a 15t front and a Speedhealer to correct the speedo.

The improved acceleration from the 15t is fab and you will not miss the top end anyway. Anything over the ton and you are in deep doo doo! And you will still get 50mpg on average (both of mine were\is Ivanised)

With the front sprocket cover of count the the teeth, my old bike is out there somewhere .... last seen on the Pile o' Shite (IOW). I should never have sold it!!!

All done, quite easy in reality but we drained the coolant\dropped the rad to do it which seems a lot of work for a plug change!!  :)

My FZS1000 is a lot easier!! :rolleyes

Pointer please ..... how to you access the spark plugs to change them.

From the top or is it from the front\side. How much have you got to take off to access them?

Thanks

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Clutch Action
« on: 15 March 2019, 04:23:50 pm »
Hi all

My son has just brought a 09 plate FZ1 and I have seen it today for the 1st time. 10k miles and very clean

The clutch action seems heavy and a bit sticky at the lever. Is that the norm or is there something amiss perhaps. I can't comment yet how it rides but will tomorrow!! (if he lets me have a go)

Ooops...I've just realised there is the box eye Gen1, a Gen2(?) with a similiar nose fairing to my thou and the new FZ6 which is what I was thinking of. However opinions of both Gen2 and FZ6 would be useful!!

Thanks

FZ6 / Fazer / New Rider
« on: 29 June 2017, 06:38:18 pm »
Hi all,

I'm Timbo, usually on the Fazer 1000 forum :lol !

Opinions please. My wife to be is about to pass her test (she better had or else) would a Gen 2 FZ6 be new rider friendly? All things considered I think she will make a good rider in time so I would have thought she would be okay on one although I understand they are a bit frisky?

Are there any major issues with them?

Is there anything I need to know before I go looking for one?

Thanks

Not sure you'll find a part number for the plug as it's oressed in during manufacture and thus an integral part of the mainshaft not a separate item.

Well, not meant to be separate ... ;)

I see, well I will do when I get in there. Plastic I assume?

"Once inside the clutch cover there's a plug that sits in the centre of the clutch assembly - it should be intact and in place rather than floating around inside, that's the first check point."

Can anyone offer a part number for the plug, I'm trying to identify it. I assume I will need a new gasket once I have taken the cover off. Will I need anything else to check this? The bike does not change gear too well 1st to 2nd at low speed around town etc. Not major but annoying!
