Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / European restriction

Need to pick some brains, took my fazer 1000 gen 1 to be dyno tested today as i had a gut feeling it was holding back. Turns out to have the european restriction  producing 98.8 bhp @tbw. Does anybody know exactly how it is restricted either carbs, cam, ecu or a combination of them all ? Fair play to my local bike shop where i bought it  who said they would remedy it for me foc which i didn't expect tbh. Only i want to get it ivanised soon but to my mind, depending on the way it is restricted need to sort this first. Any feedback or advice will be welcome.

Need to pick some brains, took my bike for a dyno run today and my thoughts were confirmed....98.8 bhp @ the rear wheel. Turns out it has the european restriction. Does anyone know how exactly it is restricted either carbs, cam, ecu or a combination of one or another ? Fair play to my local bike shop where i bought it who said if i can find out how it is restricted they will have it back in and sort it. Maybe an ivan's jet kit will make a difference but in my mind i feel i need to get it de-restricted first.  Any feed back will be welcome.

Thought it only polite to introduce myself. Hello people, my name is Darren, I live in kent and have recently been bitten again with the bike bug after over 20 years away after a friend lent me his hornet  for a week. Have had many bikes in the past from motocross to 350 & 500 powervalves  & a gpz 1000 rx. I work on the London underground as a protection master/site person in charge and am an ex-bootneck. Came across this site only last month and think i'll stick around for a bit. Ride Safely  :)

Hi all, took it out on sunday, hit 150 before i backed off and as i think about it  i don't think i have nailed it long enough to achieve top speed. Have got it booked in for a dyno run on friday and am first on Mike's reserve list for the full monty in april. I will get on the dyno after to give me an accurate measure of the power gain. Which should be interesting. Will let you know the figures as i'm sure you are all as anal about those sort of things as i am. :eek

Thanks for all your comments ....some more helpful than others but not as entertaining, have just realised my bike has got 6 gears not 5 so perhaps it's alright after all !    No seriously took it out today, hit 145 in 5th  i think conditions play a big part in it and totally agree about the aerodynamics.  Am seriously considering getting it ivanised. At 47  should i still be chasing the rush...I think so, not ready for a pipe and slippers yet.

Hi everyone, would appreciate any feedback on what sort of top speed you are getting from a stock 03 model. Mine seems to be struggling over 140, have crept it up to 150 indicated, don't know if i'm expecting too much or it is holding back. Have checked air filter which was quite dirty have blown it out and ordered a new one which i intend to fit before taking it out again. I will see if this makes a difference but in the meantime would appreciate any input...safe riding.
