I'm having exactly the same issue. Im not on the bike every day but seems to be coming and going. No one seems to be able to properly diagnose this issue

Update to my issue...

Since I last posted I haven't had the bike out much but I thought the issue had cured itself. It was starting first touch of the button every time when cold. I was even going into the garage on days I wasn't using her to start her and she would fire up sweet as anything.

Today however the quandary returned. Jumped on her...cold...started first time. Off I went approx 2 miles where I stopped to use a cash machine. Jumped back on, she ticked over but didn't fire. Took a few goes but eventually she started. Off I went again where I had to stop again after another mile. Same thing happened. After I got her started this time I was on her for about another 8 miles (all running fine) stopped and this time it took 15mins to get going. It's really getting to me this! I have a big trip planned at the end of the month a really need to diagnose this issue.

Tonight I took the tank off and the filters look fine.

I am useless at mechanics and new to bikes but trying to learn but I have noticed something which may or may not be something....whenever I turn the ignition on from cold I usually get the clicking sound which I am assuming is the fuel pump sourcing petrol and she starts fine. When she is warm I seldom hear that clicking noise. Would this be that the pump is not sourcing petrol and therefore why she is stubborn to start when warm??

Guys all ideas very welcome. I'm panicking as I need this sorted for my big trip to Ireland's Bike Fest in a few weeks.

Cheers

Chris

FZS600 Fazer / Jack Up Kits Explained??
« on: 06 May 2012, 06:47:33 pm »
Can I ask the wisdom of you folks about 25mm jack up kits. I've heard they're good and improve the handling but could someone explain how they do this and if possible give a link for the right kit for a 2002 foxeye if recommended

Hi guys. I'm still having the problem. The best way I can describe it is temperamental. Sometimes starts on the button even cold with no choke, then other times won't start immediately after being run. It does always start eventually though and runs great.
I changed the oil and filters to K&N and the battery is new. Took the plugs out yesterday and had a look. They were a bit dark but not too bad. They've only done 8k miles but thinking of changinging them.

Apart from that I'm at a total loss of what the issue is  :\

FZS600 Fazer / Warm starting problem
« on: 04 May 2012, 10:48:31 am »
Just a quick question about my 2002 fzs600s with 8k miles. I've never had a problem with starting. Always fired first time on the button as a new battery was put in a month ago. However after being out on her for 30mins and stopped for 20mins and when trying to start her again she turned over but took a while to fire. That night she was harder to start again turning over for 1-2mins but she fired. At this point the fuel light had just came on so I filled her with fuel and she seemed to fire up fine again on the button. Another couple of cold starts later and she fired again fine but since another warm start she took 2-3 goes to get her to fire.

I had been thinking it was a fuel issue, possibly a bit of dirt in the tank as after she was filled she appears to be ok bar the 1 dodgy warm start.
Am I on the right lines or does this point towards another issue? I only bought the bike a couple of months ago. She was mint but I believe still has the original plugs.

Any opinions greatly received....cheers in advance!

FZS600 Fazer / K&N Airfilter increasing horsepower?
« on: 05 April 2012, 12:36:46 pm »
I am just about to replace my stock Airfilter with a K&N filter which promises to increase horsepower by up to 4%. Can anyone tell me or does anyone know if this claim is true, will there be any improvement in horse power or is this impossible on a standard setup?

Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on premium grade petrol with the fzs600. For example will using a product like bp ultimate petrol give a significant improvement on performance and mpg or is it negligible between using something like tesco brand?

Great. In regards to champion oil can anyone recommend a good supplier. Also would you recommend putting in a K&N air filter?

« on: 22 March 2012, 04:31:17 pm »
Hi guys just looking a bit of advice on my new fzs600 2002 with 6.5k miles. Just bought it but was going to change the oil and filters.

What oil and filters do you recommend? I don't mind spending a bit more for a better product if it is worth it and good for the bike.

Also have you any other suggestions on what to check/change. Everything else seems to be in great nick...chain etc

Cheers

Chris

FZS600 Fazer / Fzs600 & fzs600s
« on: 18 March 2012, 02:23:04 am »
Hi everyone. This is my second post. I wrote on here two weeks ago when asking advice whether to buy a fzs600 2002 or a fz6 for my first bike. Well I went for the fzs600 and I love it. It's mint as well!

Anyway my question is my bike was sold as a fzs600's'. What are the differences between a fzs600 and a fzs600s if there are any or are they really the same bike?

23
Oh also on this both bikes have the fox eye style fairing

Hey everyone. I apologise if a similar topic has been posted here but I just want to get a bit of advice from people who know. I am hopefully about to buy my first bike...a fazer in the next week or so and I have two options I am torn between.
One of the bikes is a 2002 Fazer 600s with belly pan. It has only 6k miles and has been totally cherished and really is in showroom condition. Unfortunately it requires tax and MOT. The seller is looking £2100.
The other bike is also a very very clean 2007 FZ6 S2 in blue with 10k miles. It has 8 mths MOT but needs taxed. The seller is looking £2250.
I have heard that the older bikes are better and as this would be my first bike I want to make the right decision. I am concerned about the older bike needing work soon, or seals failing due to its age but it has been garaged and is immaculate. You really would be hard pushed finding a better example at a year old.

I am just really interested in you guys views on this. How do the level of miles compare to the age etc.

Look forward to reading your replies...

Regards

Chris
