Hi all, Now summer is upon us (well, for a few days) I have been riding the little Fazer quite hard.
However, over the last few days, one or two issues became apparent when exiting corners...
1) on tight corners, upon exiting, the front lifts slightly, and feels to be 'skipping' whilst the bike is still slightly leant over
2) on smooth, fast corners/bends, the rear feels to be slipping/sliding all over the place.
I have played with preload etc, and tried adjusting the bars (got renthal 'superbike low' bars) and I've tried adjusting fork height within the yokes, to no avail.
Has anyone else experienced this, and are there any recommended modifications?

Before you go playing with fork heights and other factors, what tyres have you on, and what pressure / condition are they in?
Mine occasionally feels like its slipping at the back (esp on one particular bend) - but I also know full well my back tyre is squared off (motorways) and it won't be helping.
If you're running sporty tyres on it, are they hot enough?

The tyres are only 200 miles old continental conti motion tyres, and pressures are as per the manual, so I sure hope it's not a tyre issue :) as for tyre temperature, the rear gets very warm, and the front gets slightly warm. One thing I have noted is tearing at the edges and wrinkling (like and old persons skin) in the middle...

The front lifting on corner exits is the exciting bit! Try some S bends at speed, mid corner I'm mostly on the back wheel! (or lean forward on the foot pegs, my ZX-6 was a bugger for that, had to ride it in the bends with all my weight over the tank to stop the front going skywards on the exits)

Also, 200 miles isn't a lot of bedding in for the back, and you will see a fair bit of shiney stuff on the side of the tyre which will scrub off as you go on. This normally causes the wiggle until its properly scrubbed off.

Ill admit that it is exciting, but im no Valentino Rossi, and my fitness isn't a strong point, so I want it to be nice and easy to handle/ throw about/ thrash :)
Here's the tyres, first pic is the rear, second is the front.... think you'll agree they're scrubbed in pretty darn well lol

Looks as thou the rear has still got a bit more rubbing in to do compared to the fronts

I'm on BT 021's and they get a bit squirmy on the edge but I thought that was normal

Golly! I think I've cracked it!
Today I drained all the old fork oil out (it was filthy) and put in some 10wt as recommended by a friend of mine. I then dropped the forks a further 10 mm through the yokes and viola! It is now near perfect. Well as perfect as the old girl will be :)

seems to like jump off bumps etc and jarrs me through the handelbars

Change the fork oil and play with fork height, I will be changing the springs in the very near future, and will update you on how that goes :)

well?....for a kick off ben?...is that a 120/70/17 you running up front?? :rolleyes ......you should be on a 110/70..? that will mess up your handling straight away??....and your rear should be 160/60/17.......

what you have done to your bike is to alter its geometry to compensate !!..with a 120 on the front it makes the bike want to run wide on corners!...thats why your feeling the rear sliding/slipping as you put it??...put a 110 on front and that ...will....sort your problem!!!! thats as long as you got a 160 on rear!!!!!! :rolleyes

Have got a160/60 rear, front is 120 as it makes the bike tip in easier and in the first few weeks of owning the bike I rode off the edge of the 110. All 3 of my bikes run a 120 as opposed to 110 due to this :) ah well, handles like a dream now and I love the Fazer once more!

Out of curisoity have you checked your front wheel bearings? It makes for very interesting cornering when the right hand one wares out. its the least defended one with only a seal to protect it. Just a thought chaps.
