And so it begins..fce on a 2009
« on: 07 September 2013, 09:44:36 pm »
Fitted the ivans fce to my fz1 today. Been reading up on it first,, lots of opinions, some say it improves a 2009 some say it makes no difference. I guess it depends how they ran beforehand. Mine had a definite prob, changing gear etc there was a lag then lurch whenever I throttled off then on, unless I was right up in the powerband. Same thing taking long corners, on off throttle was a right pain. Anyhoo, took me time and made a proper job of it, soldered the wires into the connectors as well as crimping them etc, then took it out for an hour. Huge improvement all round, and surprisingly, deffo a horsepower hike from about 4k rpm. I'll use it like this for a week in lots of different situations before I start the rest of the jobs( pc3, secondaries, airbox mod etc)make sure it's not my imagination, but so far it's definitely a winner. :)

I thought the FCE needed a PC2/3 installed for it to actually work?

No, does what it is supposed to without any other module being required. :)

Sounds good, all the reports say it is the first mod to do,, with me it will be the last,or until now, its my winter spend mod for me, hope it works like yours,
I have done all the other external mods so hope it adds to them.

It still grieves me that the gen 2 needs stuff like this compared to my old gen 1, but I just know there's a very good bike in there somewhere. Btw I took a new 2013 gen 2 out on demo, and it ran like it had an fce and a power commander already fitted!!!. Yamaha have definitely done summat, just a shame I couldn't bring myself to pay 9 grand for one even if I had it. Normally, manufacturers get summat sorted just in time to discontinue it, so I'm seriously expecting a cross plane crank gen 3 announced this winter..
Thanks again for the part tim  ;)
