Hi all
I have fitted a bodge number plate light to my recently rear ended fz1s so I can still ride it while I wait for parts to arrive from fowlers (up to three weeks 🤬). While I was at it I checked how I would remove it later.


I've checked the service manual but it doesn't describe the actual procedure, the sticking point for me was how to remover the tool holder tray so the cables can be pushed out, the seat stay brackets prevent it from coming out the top way. Or is it a question of removing the side panels and splash guard so the entire subframe can be removed and the parts disassembled off the bike?


I'm sure I will figure it out eventually over a weekend of tantrums in the garage. If anyone knows the correct method I would greatly appreciate the input and only have to suffer half a day of tantrums (or maybe a whole day) 😅

I had a rear linkage knock advisory on my last MOT so I've been looking into repairing it. I've looked in the manual and it looks like there's four in total not including the monoshock mounts.


Firstly does anyone know where I can get a rebuild kit other than yamaha a Google search returns nothing, and secondly are the monoshock ends bearing or bushes, it's hard to tell from the manual.

How important is the 91mm air gap, I  mean if you put precisely 545ml of oil in then all things being equal it must be right, what can change to make the air gap incorrect? The reason  I'm asking is I put 545ml of oil in bone dry forks spring out fully compressed and the gap was about 105mm

Hi all, just had a fork seal go so I'm replacing it, I'm just wondering what the general consensus is on which grade to use, I'm assuming the bog standard is 5w just wondering if 7.5 will make a noticeable difference, I'm not sure which grade was in there before but its very clean so probably has been changed recently, had a search on the forum but really tricky finding relevant results 🙈
