Title: Fork damper removal tool
Post by: fatboy on 29 July 2023, 09:52:17 pm
Hi guys
Tried the tapered broom handle trick, with no results
Anyone used a damper rod removal tool
And any idea what sort of one would be suitable
Cheers

That's expensive for something you'll rarely use. I would still persevere with the broom handle, it's always worked for me, even the very first time when the bolt seemed extremely tight. Maybe get someone to assist you holding the fork leg down onto the handle while you try to undo it.

If it’s the same size as the 1000, I just force fitted a 27mm socket into a length of hollow tube. Ran some Araldite around the joint and bound it with some gaffa tape for good measure. Then drilled through the tube at the other end to get a screwdriver through to act as a T bar.
