I went to the optician today because I keep seeing the world fall apart.

Yeah, it's just the gold version.
I can't believe the prizes on this show, which ran from 1995 to 2001.
In fact it had some of the biggest prizes ever on there, i can't thing of anything similar right now?

On at 5am though, but i'm up early every day so i see it most mornings now.  :lol

They were probably too old to get tampered with back in the 80s 🤭

Oops.

Open the doors and it will blow away then just rinse the airframes with fresh water and they should be good to go again.

Not quite that easy.  The engines will need to be stripped, flushed and run up as will the electronics systems, some foams turn into a sticky smelly mess although they may not be corrosive, they could react with some materials.  They may be no permanent damage but it's certainly not going to be a quick jet wash or hose down, many hours of work me thinks, someones for the high jump especially if it was a prank!

It will depend on the foam but in most cases you are correct. there is a newer foam out there that does just require a rinse down but......

A lot of time will be required to inspect the guts of the airframes to make sure no foam got in before any one can sign it off. the engines on those will just need an inspection as the whole thing including intakes and exhaust are above the foamline

Look at the height of the foam line on the two aircraft on the right and the one right at the back their engines are below or half way. mate  ;)

I wouldn't like to be in there when that goes off.And surely there must be some sort of major foc-off warning before it goes off - give you a chance to run for your life. But then its the USA - maybe not. :eek

Never been in the situation myself but getting covered in the foam is OK, just keep the space in front of your face clear and you can break as the bubbles are full of air.
Several people have died when they have been caught in the foam though as they panicked and got disorientated and ultimately forgot to clear the space in front of their faces

But it won't feed a fire?

And yeah it would be easy to panic in such a situation, and sometimes you'll never know until it happens - and then it could be too late.
I'm familiar with deluge systems.  They stress to us the active firing system must be disabled before you enter a protected area (there is still limited passive ambient temperature protection).  When it is on active, it will fire a whole zone of heads, and spray out absolute shit loads of water.  It suppresses the oxygen in the enviroment, to the extent it would be a threat to your well being - you might not get out.

Probably the same sort of scenario with a car going underwater,it must take a lot of bottle to sit and wait for the car to fill up before trying to open the windows. :eek

My 7 year old nephew showed me with pride the "telephone" he had just made from a string and two tin cans. I pulled out my iPhone and said, "That's nice, but..."

"Look at what kids your age make in China!

Phrases that mean nothing will happen:

Leave it with me
I’ll have a word
I’ll see what I can find
Consider it done!
I’ll make some calls
I’ll think about it
Certainly a possibility
Let’s come back to that
Good idea
Maybe
It’s on my list
Might see you down there
I’ll look into it

the foam of yesteryear contained bulls blood, and I have been caught not only in foam system discharges but deluges as well, sometimes inspecting them working and sometimes not.
