Just a heads up for anyone in striking distance of The Ace Cafe, it’s Yamaha Day on the 23rd of this month.
-
Sounds like a plan. ;)
Back in the day, members from the SE used to meet at the ACE weekly at one point, great times albeit what 20 odd years ago :eek
-
had to check GNASHER`S dates there...reopened in 1994 cant believe it was that long ago,was there on the opening day but cant remember what bike i was on...anyone remember the other ACE CAFE on the A40 just west of the hoover building ? can remember going on Friday nights in 1981 on a brand new suzuki X7...remember coming home past RAF Northolt on the A40 the low street lights made it feel you were going a lot faster than you were and of course no speed camera`s back then so it was flat out all the way home...happy days

As it s local'ish I will be going, Im just taking a ride down there now for lunch to confirm.
-
I was at the Ace Reunion in 1994 which was to commemorate 25 years of it being shut. It was still Just Tyres then, but Mark got to use the venue for the weekend. He used to come round with a collecting bucket to help fund returning the site to a cafe, on various Rocker runs, that had been in place years before he came on the scene. Credit to him for getting his dream off the ground. Must be well minted now as there's Ace franchises all over the world now. Wouldn't think he used to be Old Bill.

Spoke to the owner, they have no problem with any motorcyclists going down there. With guidelines being on track, people will be allowed inside after the 13th.

Will pencil 23rd in my diary, I could be persuaded to crawl out of the woodwork for a LOFO meet since it's been so, so long since I last joined anything FOCU related. :-)
-
Do we have a time you guys would like to set? Lunch time when its the warmest and when we can order food..? If we have an idea of numbers I can try and reserve some seating space.
-
I can do anytime. Getting a table's a good idea, be nice to put some faces to some pseudonyms :lol
-
Well we have 5 people so far.
-
Put me down as a probable.
If I can summon up the strength for the entire North Circular :\
-
Like Mtread I'm a probable but baulking at the thought of using the North Circular, even on a Sunday.
One possible fly in the ointment, doesn't the owner have a thing against Fazers, one of the last times I was there heard he had asked some of our brethren to park out of sight

I know the owner and I find that hard to believe, so reading between the lines, its sounds like you heard this anecdotal comment from someone else?

Never had any hassle parking my Fazer there wherever I wanted. Perhaps the chap in question just had a particularly scuzzy looking Fazer... :rollin

Weather forecast is still ok for Sunday. What's a good arrival time to aim for. North Circ is a drag, but everyone's in the same boat.
-
Yep mostly sunny, then cludy with some small showers later in the day.
-
Will no doubt have to pack some waterproofs for Sunday, as the forecast is not as rosey as it was. Anyone got an idea of an arrival time.
-
I may well ride down for an Hour or so
-
Im going to be down have lunch with the owner from 12.
-
I can make it by 12, hope the showers hold off.
-
I think I can make it for 12 too :)
-
So weather looks to be rain free all the way upto 4pm, for the Ace itself all the way to south herts (where Im based).
-
Same forecast for S.London :thumbup
-
local run for me, 25ish miles west of the ACE...forecast here is for a 35% chance of rain from 1pm...got a few errands to run this morning but will try and get to the ACE for 12...ride safe foccers
-
50 miles for me from the east. See you there
-
Weather is threatening, but if the bike gets wet so be it. Both bikes need a clean and I can do this on Wednesday.
-
Took the A1/ M25 route back. All fine until stinging rain from South Mimms
But nevertheless a good meet up after so long. Thanks for the tea and bacon sarnies.
-
I got lucky going home as I did coming down, the M1 and my part of Hertfordshire was bone dry :-)
-
Nice to see you all. Shame the weather let us down, but hey, we made the effort and that's the main thing. Boring drag around the north/south circs, but home in time for the footie, so not all bad. Hopefully we can sort out another meet on a sunnier day. :thumbup
-
Despite the rain it was still good to get out. Nice meeting you b1k3rdude and good to catch up with Robbo and Mtread....a dry boring A/M40 ride home for me...till the next time foccers :thumbup
-
Lovely looking boxeye. ;)

Have a chat with that boxeye owner red, he might have another engine :D
-
