FZ6 / Fazer / FZ6 04 Gear indicator
« on: 22 April 2016, 01:47:26 pm »
Has anybody had any joy fitting the Ebay jobby gear indicators to their FZ6?

Looked at all the wiring diagrams on here, in the Haynes and trawled web pages for days but still struggling to find where Im supposed to wire it up to...

Looking for a switched live that wont drain the battery and also having trouble findng the right wires for the neutral light, dont fancy going in from behind the clocks.

Anyone had any experience?

Cheers.

MOT just done on Friday with no printed advisories.

Guy recommened new chain and sprockets so back end stripped ready for parcel arriving tomorrow!

I've just ordered a set too, let me know how it goes as this'll be the first time I've actually changed a chain on a motorbike, yes I know it's totally disgraceful with all the years riding I've done :lol

Was a nice real easy job surprisingly! Make sure you have a chain riveting tool handy for the final link as I never  :lol

Took me longer to clean all the crap from the casings and re-allign the rear wheel than it did to do the job itself!

I was also hoping that a new correctly tensioned chain would help to eliminate some of the typical Yam gear change clunk, but, nope....

Knackering day.....on the  :faz , yay!  :)  Did loads of the gnarly little mountain roads in the Lakes, including Honister, Wrynose and Kirkstone passes. But quite a few other roads around here are similar in steepness, and they require constant concentration. It was actually pretty warm in the sun too, to the point where getting the colder winds at the tops of the passes was a relief!

It's a fabulous place; the sense of remote, open space is fantastic up here, one of my favourite in the region.

Looks a lovely ride and cracking weather for it too.

I really need to get myself over there at some point. So many nice places not far from my doorstep and I never think to bother.

Very nice work!

I always find myself standing in the garage staring at my bike with all these ideas and intentions...

The hard part is actually getting off my arse and doing them!  :lol

Rode the Striple up to the Hartside cafe. Much better suited to these roads than the big Fazer, just feels like everything's a bit more in hand. Great road up there, but Sunday is obviously not a good day for it, as there were loads of chavved-up cars tearing up and down, barely keeping to their own side of the road. So my cunning plan is to do it again tomorrow, when it's supposed to be sunnier too  :D

Im still yet to make my first trip up to Hartside. This will be my first summer with a "big" bike so hopefully plenty of trips out and about the North East :)

Oops, thanks for the replies and apologies for the delay  :rolleyes

A few pics from the day I picked it up and shortly after a quick wash and panniers removed:

Really enjoying the bike so far, especially the riding position.  Still just trying to take it easy with it being my first big bike and only passing my test a few weeks back.

Hopefully if the weather plays ball this weekend will be my first group ride out which Im looking forward to  :D

Only little niggle I have is it sounds as though theres a slight tinny rattling sound/exhaust blowing that appears around 4-5k rpm which I cant bloody suss out what it is and its driving me mad haha

Shes a 2004 with almost 35k on the clock so not immaculate. Are there any things I should be looking out for around this sort of mileage?

Thanks for looking guys!

Kind regards.

Hi guys.

Just recently passed my big bike test after having been riding my 125 for the last couple of years and ended up buying myself an FZ6 2004 as my first bike.

I must say its a very comfortable bike and a great riding position for my lanky legs and Im really enjoying it so far :)

Looking forward to picking all your brains with alsorts of problems and questions over the coming weeks ;)

Thanks for having me!
