Double Bubble Screens for Gen1
« on: 19 July 2012, 03:02:21 pm »
I am looking to improve the wind resistance for my Gen1 as the standard screen is hopeless when hitting ton plus (allegedly). I saw the thread on Givi touring screens and the picture of the additional attachment screen which looks poor and takes the looks away in my opinion. I have seen a picture of the MRA double bubble which says its 30mm taller and looks the business, has anyone tried these or has any other recomendations.....I don't like the extremely tall screens as it takes the sports bike looks away and I don't do any touring.

Ahoy, BBB

I've got an MRA dubble bubble on my Fazer Gen 1.
TBH I find it makes very little difference at all, I still get blown round the place at 80 - 85mph.
It's fine up to those speeds but beyond is just a world of blustery gusts and ultimately a sore neck.
Recently I swung my bars up a little as I felt I was face down into the gusts of wind and that has helped more, I'm in the process of finding out which bars will have me reclining just a little more. I'm hoping it will send the wind over my head and not into my face.
I don't want to spend £115 on a Vario as I don't like the look either.
There's a chap on here called devilsyam I think with a custom yellow gen 1 with a double bubble that looks far more effective than the MRA.
Here it is:  http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,3768.msg30808.html#msg30808

I swapped the original screen for a double bubble but found it worse. For some reason it hurt my ears at high speed and flicked tears from my eyes up onto the visor.  In the end I went for a slightly taller screen with a flip top front and it's perfect.

Has anyone tried the Powerbronze Airflow?

For some reason the Fabbri Double doesn’t seem to get much press, for me it’s the best so far.  Have tried most of the top makes & all of the genuine Yamaha ones.  Measuring 385mm in length with a significant bubble deflection, this is well worth a try!
It’s all about personal fitting & preference, I’m 5ft  8” with odd job build from Gold finger, using Renthal 758’s!  Good wind protection to approx 100mph.
Just sold a MRA Vairo as it just didn’t work for me, with a MRA DB on its way to try, hoping this will hit the sweet spot as it’s a bit wider than the Fabbri, if not that’s being flogged on!

It just so happens I have a Fabbri Double Bubble dark smoke tint available taken off the Gen 1 Fazer 1000 I have just sold. If anyone wants it, please get in touch. It's in excellent condition having been fitted in August 2010 and done about 3000 miles. It cost me £64 and I'd be looking for £30 plus p & p. Call on 07831 879444. John
