Foc ing alarm
« on: 20 March 2014, 08:08:25 pm »
Help, I have a datatool red 3 alarm on my FZ1. It was on the bike when purchased. The alarm started playing up two weeks ago, it would not disarm. It worked fine again for a couple of weeks but now will not disarm at all. The fob has a new battery, any ideas ?

Cheers Bubs :eek

Hi,
The system 3 is years old, they are known to fail after 6-8 years old, best bet is to get it taken off, it will become unreliable.

I had one on an old zx7r years ago and got so fed up with it I took the rear side panel off and cut it out of the loom. It was surprisingly easy to reconnect all the wiring and was back up and running in about 15 minutes.

Try another battery, it's so easy to discharge those little things inadvertently when handling them, the alarm won't reliably respond to a weak signal from the fob. I drop the battery into the fob straight from the blister pack and am careful not to touch it.
I go through the same pullavar when changing the battery on my dive computer. Worth the fuss.
