I noticed in a recent pic (and elsewhere) people put their prized crash helmets on seats, mirrors, etc.Having lost a custom painted (motor racing) helmet to the tarmac after it blew off the boot of the car I have always tried to stick to - "If it's not on my head it's on the floor" - on the basis that it is difficult for it to fall off the floor.Any views ?
At the petrol station i put it on top of the pump casing, not the cleanest place but then the padding is washable & a bit o dirts still better than a ruined helmet.
At petrol stations it's on my head, if they don't like it I shop elsewhere.
Mirrors are fine, as long as the gloves aren't in the hat,
Don't want to hijack this thread off the original topic but IMO yes, it's too much hassle to take it off when filling up.I don't make any fuss any more, I just get back on and go elsewhere, but most of the time I use Tesco as they have 'pay at pump' facilities and everyone's happy.
one great advantage of a flip front lid.don't need to take it off
