New downpipes fitted
« on: 21 August 2012, 09:40:08 pm »
Just fitted some from Sandybikesspares. The old ones came off easily. New ones went on like a dream. Look great. The pipes came day after ordering. Test ride tomorrow. Something's bound to go wrong now.

Make sure the nuts are all torqued correctly and check them every other day for a couple of weeks because they need to settle in properly, and the hot/cold thing can make them loosen a little bit.  ;)

£174 including next day delivery. Comes with the 4 exhaust gaskets for the header pipes and the gasket to join the silencer link pipe to the downpipes. They don't provide the nuts that attach the downpipes to the cylinders so if the old ones snap, you'll need some 10mm nuts.

If you want nice shiny domed nuts  :rolleyes   I used these which were perfect for the job and only 99p inc postage.  Torque for the header nuts is 10Nm.

I recently fitted a set of downpipes from Sandybikespares and think they're bloody brilliant!
You lose a tiny bit of top end but the fat shove of torque in the midrange more than makes up for it. I think the extra torque comes from the 4-2-1 design and the larger internal diameter of the pipes. Probably the best mod I've done to the bike!  :thumbup
