Seriously keep the FZS600 and sell the SV :p
I know, I know. In reality, the SV has 13k miles, is 7 years newer and has a lot more life left in it. It's not as much fun or as good a bike but it's only my commuter and I had a bargain on that too. I'm doing a track day tomorrow on my FZ1 so i've still got 1 Fazer to make me smile

I always tend to buy the Castrol stuff as they have a motorbike specific one. This one is a more general oil not specifically engineered for motorbikes, does that make any difference?

risiculous price mate. if you was closer id snap your hand off just to get it at that money.
It is ridiculous, i've had so many people after the bike. I expect it to be gone this evening. Definately could have got about £650+ I reckon. Still, it's a steal of a bargain but it's served it's purpose and does mean i'll have the space and be £450 richer. That'll cover new tyres and C&S that I need for my SV650 and may even have some beer money left.

The only thing stopping me from going for this is the problem of where to keep it - but have been known to worry about these things after the deed is done!
Do it! Wont see a bargain like this again

Would you take £300 for it cheif?
No sorry, £300 is too low and it's worth more than that. It's a working bike, I just stopped riding it.

Yep, my trusty old FZS600 is currently gathering dust in my garage and any grand plans of keeping it as a track bike or some sort of project bike are just not going to happen and I need the space so i'm flogging it cheap. The details: - 1999 FZS600 in black 74k Taxed until April 2014 Needs an MOT - Allowed it to expire as I now commute on a SV650 instead. I got lazy basically. Good bitsBombproof engine Gearbox perfect Brakes still sharp Heated grips fuel can Motad exhaust system Scottoiler Bad bitsbadly pitted forks 3 out of 8 exhaust studs snapped Numerous marks and scuffs Tatty engine paint, badly flaking rear suspension shagged The bike has been used as a winter commuter but has been loved and looked after where it needed to be. I don't have time or space to do anything with it anymore so it's got to go. It starts on the button and still has a strong heart, could be used as a winter hack for many years to come. £495 ono - do your worst

Do you know of the thermo wax device would need replacing if it has failed or would adjusting the idle speed be good enough (if I can free the bugger!)

I noticed today that my 07 FZ1 was idling at 1650rpm. Any ideas as to what could have caused this to happen?
I went to adjust the idle speed today but the whole cable twisted rather than turn inside itself so I guess somethings seized?
Had anyone had any similar experiences?

Their choice though and they are legal. Not my choice but it's up to them really

Does anybody know of any decent temporary insurers out there? Cant seem to find any, the ones that do show up on google dont actually provide the facility to quote! A group of us have a ride out planned but my mate has just had his cbr600f nicked from outside his house - he's gutted of course! I said id lend him my FZS600 but its currently uninsured so was hoping we could do a 2 day cover from someone but im not having any luck Sent from my GT-P5110 using Tapatalk 2

I'd been thinking about which bike to go for as my first big bike since getting my 125 last year. The 3 I was toying with was Hornet, Fazer, and SV. I learned on a Hornet, and I wasn't quite happy with the riding position so that went pretty much straight away. So it was left between the other two. Every so often I'd say "that's it, Fazer it is" and then a few minutes later "but the SV is meant to be fast".... In the end, I opted for the Fazer for 2 reasons - I'm a big lad, and the SV is meant to cripple tall riders like me. And the 2nd is, the shop got a nice Fazer in the week before my test, so it was fate if you will. I still wonder what would be if I'd gone down the SV route, but I suppose I'll never know. Oh, that was the other thing that put me off about the SV - it's a common bike for new riders, and apparently it's hard to find one that hasn't been dropped in some way.
You chose well buddy, it's not the most comfortable for taller people. I'm close to 6ft and it's a little cramped, the Fazer is far more comfortable, is much quicker and ultimately a better bike. The only reason I changed is because my Fazer is on 73k now, i've had 2 of them before so fancied something different and a twin appealed to me

Much the same as my thoughts when I rode it, I personally preferred the rev happy fzs engine over the sv - didn't like the power delivery of the twin.
I can imagine its a good commuter bike though
Me too, one of the reasons I held onto the FZS for so long is because that engine just loves to rev and I have such a hoot on it every day. Unfortunately the rest of the bike is getting too old now, if only I could take the engine with me! It fires up every morning on 1 crank from the button, push and BANG...off we go. It still pulls as strong as ever, I know it would happily go on for 10's of thousands of miles more....such a shame and waste really I'm with you though, there's no surge of power with the SV, it pulls OK but never with any kind of anger, then it runs out of revs. I guess it's not that type of bike which is fine for a commute but would become boring if it was for the weekend too. It does mean I can abuse it all day long and not really get into too much trouble
