Title: Relay
Post by: nobrakes on 12 June 2017, 12:27:15 pm
Hi guys!

Installed 4 LED blinkers and LED brakelight with a realy on my fzs600 2002. After a couple of days blinkers started to flash faster than normal. Dont know whats wrong...

Anyone had the same problem?

If they were working OK and you fitted the new relay that was LED specific then its a knackered relay by the sound of it.

Yeah the LED's use so little power so the relay thinks the bulbs are out. You need to stick a resistor in parallel with each LED to slow the blinking rate down.

I changed the relay at the same time as blinkers.

They blinked normal for some days but now they blink faster.

Is it because of the cheap relay?

Do you even need the relay?
My tail light is an LED replacement and for a while until the weather made them brittle i had LED strip lights connected directly to my indicators, but i never needed a relay at all, and they all flashed in sync.

Agree with BB.

Hoping you did fit an LED relay equivalent to the existing relays pin configuration.

Good luck fella  :thumbup

Well, its just a two-pin relay. Kinda hard to make it wrong  :rolleyes

Unless you, as has been pointed out, have a relay for incandescent type bulbs and not LED. I'm guessing that the replacement relay would have the same number of pins as they have to connect into the existing loom.

Text is from the seller.
It should be fine, I guess i have to order another relay to find out.

Feature:
1. Effective to prevent flashing too fast or not flash phenomenon whe the original car halogen bulb replace LED turn signal!2. Flashing lamp frequency has temperature and voltage compensation3. The minimum LED light load current is 0.02A, can be directly replace the ordinary electronic flash when the turn signal light is the ordinary light4. Relay output current drive capability is good, low saturation voltage5. Low EMI susceptibility6. Standard pin, very convenient to use and replace

Errr, if the relay only has 2 pins then it'll never work (2 needed for coil). Hope you have more than that.

The original had 2pin aswell, worked fine with stock blinkers.
