FZS1000 Black engines
« on: 14 June 2023, 08:20:48 pm »
I have been looking at a few FZS1000 online and not sure if this is normal or not. Some of the ones with black engine cases appear to have silver or grey cylinders. Is this right or should i be wary?

I don't ever recall seeing this, I know some of the 600's had black casings with silver rocker box cover and fins, but the 1000s were either fully silver or black. Can you share a link?

It was never available with black casing silver engine onl all black or all silver.
Most likely the owner replaced them due to accident damage or painted them black due to the silver paint peeling as it was an issue with the earlier silver engines.
Just ask when buying, but if the machine is in good condition and no obvious accident damage I would not let it put you off

You'll only see this if motors been out for a refurb & repaint like mine.
Either all Silver or all Black motors from factory.

Whats others have said, the latter.

Unlike Gaz's which is a silver engine with black engine covers, what I guess you have seen is mostly black engine/s but with random parts of it in silver (eg the cylibnger barrels).

Black engine covers are getting quite hard to find.

Either black engines with silver cylinders or silver with black.

Thanks all - dropped the idea of getting an  FZS1000 for now and gone for an MT-09 Tracer instead.
