FZ6 stalling on tick over

Hi all, some advice is required from all you knowledgeable people out there. I was about 20mins into my journey when I had to stop in traffic. I put my 2004 fz6 into neutral and then it stalled.  When I started it again it stalled. The only way I could keep it running was to keep the throttle open slightly and keep the revs up. If I let it back on tick over then it would stall again. I must say that it always started again. 
Could it be that I've over filled the tank as it does seem a fueling issue.  Any help great fully appreciated.

Does it run ok? No hesitation / misfire etc?
Has the bike stood? Last service?

Possibly dirty fuel, or too low idle speed, could do with more info (does it only do it when hot?)

Could be water in fuel? Should clear itself soon if that's the case.

Is there a misfire when the bike is running, could be damp plug leads or some thing, might be worth giving the coolant a check as if there is no coolant in engine sender could be reading cold (no water to heat it) and cause the bike to overfuel.

If it keeps happening get the dealer to check the TPS (throttle position sensor) known fault on FZ6 2004. Mine started stalling on idle or on down shifting.
After countless services eventually got Yamaha to replace it for free.

Hi all,  thanks for all your advice.  The bike hasn't sat idle and wasn't wet weather when it happened.  I started it up 2 days later and it sat on tick over all ok, so maybe just one of those things!Yes the bike had been running for 20-30mins before this happened.  I am due to give it a good run out next week and see how it runs.

I had a similar problem on a breakfast run. We rode for about 30 minutes at lower speeds, and as I pulled into a town and stopped at a traffic light, it did the same thing. I eventually pulled off at the traffic light, and haven't had the problem since.
 
Not sure if it is dirty fuel or an airlock. But it self-corrected.

My Fazer seems all ok.  I think it may have been an air lock or something. Anyway seems fine now. Again cheers for all advice given, it's much appreciated. Happy days
